It’s March and the coffee is ready. The brew pictured below is from Coffeeholics in Blacksburg, VA. Every time we visit Daughter #2 at school, we make sure to visit. It’s so, so good. I’m sitting down with Coco, Deborah and you for a little catch up session. March has been a long month already.
Is That You, Spring?
Over coffee I’d tell you we’re going through a very rough time with our beloved dog, Ozzy. He contracted a fungal infection called Blastomycosis and it’s been so very scary. I took him to 3 different vets before we got a correct diagnosis and then he spent several days hospitalized, burning up with a fever that would not quit and struggling to breathe.
Finally, after more than a week, his fever broke. We are nowhere near out of the woods yet, but I am praying his temperature stays down so his poor little lungs can begin to heal.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you have any spring travels coming up. February was our travel month, with trips to Virginia to visit daughter #2 at school and to Atlanta to visit Daughter #1. While we don’t have anything planned for March, I am very much looking forward to having Thing 2 arriving home for spring break TODAY! Yay!
Over coffee I’d ask you if you’re still seeing holiday decorations up and lit or is it just me? A neighbor across the street has their Christmas tree, along with a bunch of other decorations up inside and lit every night. Another house down the street still has a Santa’s sleigh and reindeer all lit up on his lawn. Am I missing something? Is this a thing??
Over coffee I’d ask you if you are a fan of daylight savings time. Since I am all for a later sunset, I’ll say yes, I’m a fan, even though losing that hour this weekend is not my favorite.
Alright your turn: What would you tell me over coffee?
Poor Ozzy! I’m glad he’s on the mend. I hope he fully recovers –and you too!! It’s so hard to see our little furry loves suffering.
I was just pondering the few people who haven’t taken their decorations down. What is up with that?
Three different vets? Wow, that’s wild! Poor little Ozzy—struggling to breathe must have been so scary for him.
On the bright side, if these people wait long enough to take down their decorations, they’ll be ahead of the game for next winter!
Oh, what a rough time for Ozzy. I hope the fever breaking is a sign of recovery. That sounds so scary.
I just had my one work trip of March but I’m staying at a hotel in DC for a conference later this month, so maybe that counts too? In April I’ve got quick trips to NYC and Chicago for work, but nothing fun.
I am not a fan of the time change since morning is my “me” time.
Oh no- poor Ozzy! Sounds like he’s through the worst of it- I hope he continues to heal. Three days in the hospital is a lot- you must have been so worried.
Hmm, Christmas decs still up AND LIT in March??? I almost think these people are making some kind of statement, but I don’t know what it would be. I’ll admit I didn’t get our outdoor lights down until right around Valentine’s Day, but I wasn’t turning them on. It was just laziness on my part.
Do NOT get me started on DST- I might start screaming angrily.
I’m so sorry Ozzy has had rough time of it – hopefully he’s past the worst of it and is on the mend.
Funny you mentioned the Christmas decorations – one of my neighbors still have their lights up and lit. So odd!
I admit I’m not looking forward to DST – losing that hour always messes with my internal clock 🙁
Oh no poor Ozzy hope he is ok and you are too. I do look forward to DST and I love the lighter afternoons and evenings. I do have a quick trip to Chi to go wedding dress shopping with my daughter and then a busy summer travel hopefully. Thanks for joining for coffee
I am surprised how many houses still have up holiday decorations. I mean it’s March.
I am a fan of more daylight hours.
Hope Ozzie continues to improve.
Poor Ozzy! I hope he is all better soon!
I do hate losing the hour on DST, but I’m neutral about the rest of it.
I know our decorations were up late, but I was just lazy this year. I think other people feel the same.
There’s a house, on one of my walking routes, that still has a tree sitting in its front window. After a recent snow episode, the driveway and sidewalk remained unshoveled…hence, I assume the residents are snowbirds who have not yet returned, LOL. I have been thinking of your family and poor Ozzy. I hope he’s feeling better each day <3
I am a huge fan of longer light during the evening thanks to daylight saving time. And you’re correct, Monday’s 5 AM alarm which will really be 4 AM is going to be tough especially with how much rest my body is needing these days.
Enjoy your time with your daughter!
