Life slowed down considerably here this week and I am enjoying the space. Space is my word for 2025 and I am doing my best to live into it. With a much lighter workload. at least until my new contract starts, I made time this week to see friends, spend time with family, and get around to doing things I’d been putting off.
Enjoying the Space
The holiday season officially drew to a close when we took Thing 2 to the airport so she could head back to campus for Spring Semester. While school doesn’t start for another week, she returned early for the sorority rush. It’s been an exciting time for me…er…I mean her…if one enjoys rollercoaster rides…and I can’t wait to see where she ends up. Eeek! Sorority rush is not for the faint of heart…just saying.
Here’s how the week in workouts went:
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, 30 mins. Bike Hills & Sprint Intervals + Core and Foam Roll
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Full-Body Strength + Mobility
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles otherwise rest
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, 30 mins treadmill run, Stretch & Sauna
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Treadmill intervals + Strength and Core work
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength + Sauna
Our weather has been all over the place this week. From mild and windy to downright frigid, however our outdoor walking game stayed on point. We’re coming up on the 5-year anniversary of our daily walks which started when the world shut down due to Covid. Can you believe it’s been that long?
Running however, is not so hot lately. I’ve had nagging hip pain that comes and goes, and lately I know in my gut that running isn’t a good idea, although I ran a bit on the treadmill. Thursday’s run felt okay-ish, but not so much on Friday. A visit to the Bone and Joint Institute is in my future.
I’m still doing well with the push-up goal I set at the beginning of the year. I’m up to 3 sets of 10 good-form push-ups. That third set is tough but I’m getting it.
How was your week? Are you going strong with your goals? How’s your weather?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!
I’m glad you’re finding space and setting boundaries. This should be a much better time for you. It was great to see you last week–we need to do that more often!
Space is a great word. I’ve been trying to hold space for more personal time during the week, but it’s tough!
That’s a lot of push-ups! I can do about 8-9 in one set with good form. I need a long break to get through 3 sets.
Ooh- space. GREAT word for the year. Glad you were able to find some this week. I agree the holidays officially end when the kids go back to college- good luck to your daughter. I probably will never vicariously experience sorority rush, so at least that’s one less roller coaster ride for me.
i hope you can resolve the hip pain! That sucks. But at least you’re super strong.
I do remember sorority rush for my daughter! Ugh not for me! Good luck to her. I am also not loving running right now but that’s ok life comes in cycles and so does running. Keep moving forward
Well done on the pushups! Great goal. Sorry about the hip. I can’t believe the pandemic was 5 years ago!
I just got down on the floor to test my proper push-up form… and I maxed out at 5, never mind 3 x 10. That’s next-level strength, Marcia – seriously impressive! Well done! 💪
I hope you celebrated the anniversary of your 4-mile walk in style with a glass of bubbly – that milestone is definitely worth toasting! Here’s hoping your visit to the Bone and Joint Institute brings a solid plan to get that hip feeling better soon.
Way to go on all those push-ups! My daily push-up streak ended back in the fall (cant’ remember the actual date,LOL), but I’m doing them again on the daily (I can’t remember that actual date either). I’m only doing 10/day, so your 30 reps are quite impressive! I hope the rush went well for the daughter…my oldest went through that. It was tense!
How great that you have a little more free time at the moment. Will your next contract have you as tied up as previously?
Hope Thing 2 finds the perfect match!
That walk streak reminds me of Bermuda before it all changed.
Good luck with your goals. I’m not sure I can do one push up.
I’m trying to will myself to run outside today. Brrrr
Good job on the push ups. Those are a challenge for me! Sorority Rush is quite the process. I wish your daughter the best of luck and hope she finds a great match!
