Thanksgiving week is here and so is my gang. Thing 1 flew in from Atlanta on Wednesday and Thing 2 arrived amidst the first snow of the season on Thursday. As you can imagine, this Mama Bear could not be happier to have a full house. I’ve been trying to get as much Thanksgiving prep done (menu planning, grocery shopping) as possible despite a ridiculous work schedule.
Here’s how the week in workouts went:
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Strength Training
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles, visited my mom
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, long work day
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Strength Training + Bike Hills and Sprints pickup T1 from ORD
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, rest, pickup T2 from ORD
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 5 miles
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Strength Training
All Roads Lead to Thanksgiving
Running, well fitness in general, remains on the back burner as I contend with a chaotic work schedule. I’ve made some decisions that will change things for the better on that front in 2025. Things feel a little, (okay a lot) wobbly at the moment, but big changes are rarely ever comfortable.
Today we are making our annual visit to Soldier Field for a Chicago Bears game. I runfess I much prefer college football at this point, especially my two favorite teams. Go Jackets! Go Hokies!
I told you in a previous post that my strength cycle sort of fizzled so I picked up where I left off for a do-over of sorts. It’s all about consistency, right? Easier said than done sometimes.

Enjoy the family! So nice to have everyone together.
All the best with the work changes – I’m sure you made the right decision, although it must have felt scary. Yay to 2025!

I feel you and love that everyone is home and together. Those are the times that I am the happiest as well. Life comes in cycles and so does fitness. You will find your rhythm again!
