Like peeling away the layers of an onion, life events reveal themselves, sometimes gradually and sometimes suddenly. This week life threw us a curveball we did not see coming. I have to remain cagey because all of the family does not yet know. Some of you know what’s going on, and I am grateful for the support. That said, while I still feel like I’m wading in quicksand, I leaned into my workouts for sanity and stress relief.
Here’s how the week in workouts went:
Sunday: Walk 2 miles
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Strength + Core
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, 30 min run, 30 min cycle
Wednesday: Walk 2 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Run 30 mins. Upper body strength + Core
Friday: Walk 4 miles, 30 min run, 30 min cycle
Saturday: Walk 4 miles
When Suddenly Everything Changes
This was the sky on our morning walk the day everything changed, as we hurried toward home. An omen of things to come?
I won’t lie: This week seems like it’s been going on for months. Time lapsed in slow motion. What seemed like days was really only hours. I’ve been floating along in a touch and go sort of suspended reality.
I was disappointed that we had to cancel our trip to Switzerland this summer, and I embraced our “summer of staying home”. Now it’s become clear that being at home was indeed the best choice. The universe has your back.
I’ll leave you with a pic of some of my deck flowers. I’m spending lots of time out here breathing, meditating and decompressing. We will get through this.

Life really is a marathon, isn’t it? These are the tough miles, and if I know you, you’re digging in deep. Sending love and healing to you and your family.
Coco says
That sky really is ominous — I hope you are finding a bit of shelter from this storm and seeing a break in the clouds. You know you’ve got so many people sending you love.
I guess I missed when you had to cancel your trip, but I am glad that left you where you need to be now.
Deborah Brooks says
Life sure does have a way of throwing curve balls at us. One thing I learned myself this past year, you are more resilient than you think you are. You are stronger than you think you are. I struggle with the “what ifs” sometimes. Sending all the good vibes and hugs to you and your family.
Jenny says
Marcia, I don’t know what’s going on but it sounds like you’re going through something big. Yes, the universe has your back, as do your friends and blogging community! I”ll be thinking about you…. sending hugs and all the positive vibes I can.
Susanne says
Life has a tendency to act up against us for sure. Mind yourself and stay active… it’s such a good stress-reliever. Sending hugs to you and your family.

I have found so many things in my life which have happened for a reason, and it sounds like you were where you needed to be. I send your family all of the positive thoughts and prayers as you weather out this storm!
Kimberly Hatting says
I agree, the universe does have our backs, even when we don’t realize it. Continued hugs and prayers to all of you. May the universe continue to do its thing 😉
Michelle says
So glad that you were home when you needed to be – the Universe does have our backs! Continuing to think of you and your family and sending lots of hugs and good vibes.

I’m continuing to send hugs and prayers your way.

Oh no Marcia, I’m so sorry you got hit with this curveball. It’s a good thing that you are strong and know how to navigate yourself and your family through this.
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it”. I know that you will have the best response!
Liz Dexter says
I don’t know what’s going on but I am sending you strength and resilience from over here. I know very well what it’s like when you’re going about your daily business and there’s a call about a hospital trip or some such, so hoping whatever it is has a positive resolution and that you can grit your teeth and get through it.
Jenn says
So many hugs.
