Here we are, time for the May Coffee Date already. Time sure does fly. As much as I try to slow down and soak up the goodness in each day, I also find myself frantic and rushing. The weeks can seem long but the months fly by. I’m sitting down with Deborah, Coco and you for a little catch-up session.
May Coffee Already
Over coffee I’d tell you spring is finally in full swing here. The trees and flowers are blooming and I spotted the first flocks of ducklings and goslings.
Last year we had no chicks in our area because, according to a neighbor, their nests were flooded out in a heavy rainstorm. This year is better!
The spring-flowering trees are blooming as well…2 to 3 weeks earlier than usual. I suspect our exceptionally mild February might have something to do with that.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you have plans for May. Here we are hurtling at what feels like warp speed toward high school graduation. Senior Sunrise took place yesterday and our last (ever) Band concert, along with Band awards night and Senior night are coming up next week. Sniff. Graduation day is not far behind, and my mom is scheduled for surgery on that day as well. Keep us all in your thoughts that everything goes well.
Over coffee I’d tell you that getting our deck opened up and most of the deck containers planted gave me a huge sense of accomplishment. I went with Virginia Tech Hokie colors this year, since we’ll be having a grad party out here in just a few short weeks. The Caveman also has a milestone birthday coming soon that I am deep in party planning mode for.
What would you tell me over coffee?
I’m also linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

All the best for your mum!!
Oh, your hosting a grad party! That sounds like a lot of work but also a lot of fun. How many people are you expecting?
Over coffee, I would tell you that preparing my parents for their move into their new apartment is taking a lot of nerves. They are convinced that they can take everything along…. my sister, brother and me keep on telling them to get rid of their stuff.
The way it looks now we will be moving everything first and then throwing away things. Sigh.

Well done on getting your patio all ready to go! I have a clean palette here, so that will be a fun project (when I actually tackle it). Good luck with all the busyness! Hope all goes well, especially for your mom’s surgery.

You do have a busy month ahead! I love the idea of Hokie colors for your flowers — they look so vibrant!
I hope your mom’s surgery does well.
Is graduation in May or June?
Deborah Brooks says
I am working on getting the deck ready this weekend too if I can stay away from the rain. Exciting times ahead for your daughter! Hope you. Mom’s surgery goes well
Jenny says
Oh wow- it’s the busiest of all busy months for you, with a graduating senior!!! Like you, I’m trying to soak in the goodness of every day, instead of just complaining about how busy it is. You do have a lot going on- good luck with your mom’s surgery. I hope everything goes well.

Aww, yay! Look at all those ducks! <3 The flowering trees are gorgeous!
I hope your mom has a speedy recovery from the surgery!
Michelle says
Wow kudos to you for already getting your deck ready and containers planted. With construction still happening I’m trying to let go of not getting much planted this year.
May will be hectic for sure – try to enjoy all of those moments leading up to graduation! And, I’m wishing your mom the best with her surgery.
Jenn says
Oh, goodness. Senior year is hard! All these lasts on the way to the next adventure!
Your deck flowers look beautiful. I have to update my pots out front, but gardening is not my thing, so I am dragging my feet.
Sending good thoughts for your mother’s surgery!
