It’s been a busy couple of weeks, with a spring-break trip followed by a college visit. Let’s just say my workouts this past week have been consistently inconsistent. Here’s how the week shook out.
Sunday: Still in VA, lots of walking, late flight home, so “rest” day
Monday: Walk 4 miles, crazy work schedule starting with a 6am staff meeting, so “rest”
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, work event so more “rest”
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles. Trail run with pup, 3 miles
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, 15 min bike hills & sprints warmup, Strength + Core
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Strength – Core – Sauna
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Consistently Inconsistent
Spring is most definitely in full swing here finally, although the weather continues to be a bit up and down. Overall there’s a warming trend so all good. I’m really itching to get the garden going but we’ve got another month to go yet before we’re out of the frost danger zone.
As I mentioned above, my workouts have been spotty but any workout is better then none so I’m not going to beat myself up over it. A delayed connection in Charlotte, NC when we flew home from Virginia had us finally getting home in the wee hours of Monday morning. A 6am work meeting was just rude, and the next day was no better as an event had me working until 9:30pm. The struggle is real. Since Ozzy’s been boarding so much lately, guilt got the better of me and I brought him with for a few trail miles. Fresh air and sunshine is always a good idea.
Backing up a but, we spent last weekend in Blacksburg, VA at an Admitted Student event at Virginia Tech. This was Thing 1’s first time on campus and I was relieved when she loved it even more than she thought she would. The campus was beautiful, the people were kind, events were fun and informative, and overall it was a great trip. Drop-off day will likely be brutal for this mama but I’m excited for her!
Speaking of inconsistent. my sleep schedule and diet have been on vacation mode lately and my Lumen readings are not where I like them to be. Aqua and blue are indicators of fat-burn and as you can see, there’s no fat burn going on. Sigh. Try Lumen for yourself and take advantage of their spring sale, Save $100 with code MARCIA until April 30.
How was your week? How do you get back on track after vacation? Good luck to everyone running the Boston Marathon!
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

I am so glad that you had a great visit at va Tech. We hope you make a swing through DC on one of your visits. Drop off was hard for me every single year! You will make it 🙂

Oh boy. I was just reliving the college dropoff freshman year. It’s always hard to say goodbye but that first one is a killer. Hopefully it will be a little easier knowing that she’s happy and excited to be there (no. Nothing makes it easier!!!)
Coming back from vacation is always hard. Especially when you have a killer work schedule! But I would say you didn’t do too badly. You got something in every day- 4 mile walks definitely count!

Oh sweet Ozzy! He looks like he is enjoying his run with you!
Exciting times with your kids! Glad she liked the school so much!

Yes, the college drop-offs are hard! For me, the first one was the toughest, but the others were still emotional. I can relate to your “inconsistency” situation…it feels like that’s been my life the past month as I navigated my way through all the moving/relocating chaos.

I’m glad your weather is getting nice — especially since I’m heading to Chicago tomorrow — although it looks like rain.
I definitely had a harder time dropping off my son at college — since that meant going home to an empty nest. I made it through though.

That sounds like such a pleasant week with all that walking. For being inconsistent it looks good to me! And your trail – I love it after just seeing your photos.
After coming back from holidays I sometimes struggle a bit to get back on track, but for the gym since I have appointments with a trainer, I just go straight into it. For at-home workouts I try to ease back into it and let work and weather (as in – is it too nice to not go for a walk?) guide me.

We had summer one day and then cold rain wind. Ugly stuff.
I’m in NyC today and it’s lovely.
Yes it’s hard to get back into a routine after vacation. Even after crappy weather.

You have been so busy this year!
I just keep going after vacation. I try not to let things change too much, which makes it easier to get back in the swing of things.
My sleep is always hot garbage. Current culprit is hot flashes and tornado trauma.

I’m so glad to hear that your daughter loves the VT campus. It’s beautiful, but I’m biased. 😉
Ugh on having a 6 AM meeting the morning after a flight delay and not getting home until much later than expected. Hope things are getting back to normal.

I don’t know how you keep up the consistency with your daily walks! Considering your heavy work schedule, that’s impressive!
