It’s time once again to open up the Runfessional so we can head into a new month with a clean soul…and soles. Let’s get started shall we?
Runfessions: Galentine’s Day Edition
While a Valentine’s Day celebration didn’t really happen this year (I had a work event and the Caveman went over to his parents’ house to help with a computer problem) I runfess I am tickled by this Galentine’s Day card he received from his mom. He didn’t know what Galentine’s Day was and apparently she didn’t either.
January was the 15th anniversary of this blog. I runfess I don’t pay much attention to how many years I’ve been writing here. If I did, I’d probably have said something back in January. Haha!
With the Tokyo Marathon less than two weeks away, the difficulty of getting an entry into the 6 Marathon Major races seems more difficult than ever. Abbott, the World Marathon Majors owner, continues to cook up various ways to increase one’s chances of getting an entry but they cost $$ and people complain about that too. I runfess I am grateful, once again, that I finished the majors 5 years ago. Seems like ancient history now but I’m so glad I did!
While I rarely accept ambassadorships or promote products anymore, for years I featured weekly product reviews and giveaways on this blog. Sometimes I’ll come across an item I still use and I’ll wonder if the company is still in business. This towel from Inperspire continues to hang on my treadmill. I runfess after a little Googling, it looks like they haven’t been in business since 2013.
Ok your turn: What have you to runfess? Do you have blog artifacts lying around?
I’m also linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

That towel is quite the artifact! I have several similar towels, from various swag acquisitions, that I use for the same purpose. Wow, it’s already been five years since you ran Tokyo!

LOL on the Galentine’s Day card — I wonder if she even noticed the “G”?
I have a ridiculous amount of stuff I still use — a lot of stuff we got at Fitbloggin’ — like the Reebok gym bags and JumpSport mini-tramp I finagled somehow.

I’m glad you were able to do a race in FL even if it wasn’t the big one you planned on — and congrats on the AG award!
That ice cream race is perfect for you!!

Love the card, that is a cute story! Love that you finished all of the Marathon Majors as well, what an accomplishment! And that medal is gorgeous!

Not sure how my comment to Darlene ended up here!

Happy blog anniversary! Yours was one fo the first I started reading. Now , I cannot even remember when I started mine. Time sure does fly! Thanks for the link up
Michelle says
15 years – wow! Like Deborah said, yours was the first one I started reading – amazing that we’re all still at it 😉
That card is priceless! LOL!
It’s crazy how much stuff I used to get for product reviews – I purged a lot of what I had left before the reno started.
Jenny says
Ha, that’s funny- your husband’s mom got him a Galentine’s Day card by mistake? Did no one notice this until you pointed it out?
Happy Blogiversary! 15 years is a loooong time. I can’t say I have any blog artifacts, but strangely I did also write about a towel in my runfession post today.

Happy blogversary!
I wish I had a heart for the majors, or marathons at all, but i love it for the people who complete that challenge. It’s so amazing.
I did a purge and found a bunch of old things from old companies. It’s interesting that we hold on to those memories, or artifacts, as you say.

I missed my 15 year anniversary, in March, it will be 16 years.
I have some bumper stickers…. weird?
Happy Blogversary. I remember the Studly Runner.

Too funny – I find random things and get emails about brands that have closed all the time. It’s sometimes no surprise and sometimes a bummer.
I am super annoyed by all of the Abbott pay extra for virtual races for a chance to be rejected “opportunities.” Do I sound bitter?? I am! I finally paid RunBuk for London and Destination Tours for Berlin for this year so I’ll have only one left – Tokyo.

Happy 15! I think you need to plan a sweet 16 for next January 😀
I have random products from Fab Fit Fun and other boxes, but I tossed many

I’m always impressed that you did the 6 Majors!
You are right, it has become a money-making machine. Just the other day I got a mail inviting me to do a half marathon every month for six months (at USD 115 each) so that I can get a better chance to enter one of the majors. Ridiculous!
I’m thinking of doing Boston in 2025, so it’s going to be interesting if and how I get that entry.
