Happy Lunar New Year! February here so far (knock wood) has been delightful. Temps staying in the 40s overnight and rising up to the mid-50s during the day is very rare in these parts and I’m enjoying every second of it. I’m still (carefully) on the comeback trail after a bout with pneumonia so I’m not running just yet, but hopefully soon. Here’s how the workouts went:
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, 20 mins bike hills and sprints, Strength, Core, Sauna
Monday: Walk 4 miles, 30 mins bike, Restorative Yoga
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, very early work day
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, 30 mins bike, Strength, Sauna
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, early work day
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Core, Yoga, Sauna
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Bike 20 mins, Strength, Sauna
Lunar New Year Rundown
I decided my lungs weren’t quite ready for running so I stuck to my usual bike-strength-stretch-sauna routine. I’m making decent progress on the bench press, among other exercises.
This week the bench press went like this:
1×25 reps @45lbs
1×12 reps @65lbs
2×12 reps @85lbs
1×10 reps @95lbs
1×25 negatives @45lbs as a finisher
After being a Balega Ambassador for many years, I was bummed when the company was sold and the program ended. Enter Jogology socks. The founders of Balega started a new sock brand and invited me to their Ambassador program. I haven’t tried the socks yet but I’m excited to do so. They come in low-, medium- and high-cushion styles, and are available online and at your local Fleet Feet store.
I’ll leave you with this sunrise pic. I’m still holding out hope for an early spring!
How was your week? Did you celebrate Lunar New Year? Any Superbowl plans?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

I did not know that about Balega! Very cool that you are representing Jogology. Hopefully I will see their brand in our running shop. I do love Balega socks. Sounds like the new product has a lot of good tech and brains behind it!

I’ve had a few pairs of Balega socks over the years, but I’ve not heard of Jogology. Based on the Balega founders starting Jogology, I assume they’re relatively new?
I hope your endurance comes back soon. I was in top marathon shape the last two times I had pneumonia and it blew me away at how much my stamina was shot when I tried to run once I felt better. Luckily, it came back pretty quickly.

I did not know Balega was sold! I’m so glad to see you feeling better and getting back to things you love. Do you use a barbell or dumbbell for your bench presses? I am ready for some heavier and wondering the best way to go? Hope you have another strong week
Wendy says
It’s good to see that you are feeling better. Your bench presses are impressive (pun intended)! Those Jogology socks look a lot like Balega. You’ll have to share if they seem similar.

Wow, I didn’t hear that about Balega- but I love my Balega socks. They’re the best! Nice job staying so active this week with your walks, core work, yoga, and strenght — wow!

I love Balegas… didn’t know they were sold.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. My hubby was sick for a month.
Michelle says
Balegas have long been a fave – curious to hear what you think of Jogology.
So glad to hear you’re feeling better!

I knew nothing about Lunar New Year, so no- didn’t celebrate. But I am excited for the Super Bowl!
I’m glad you’re feeling better and are having a nice February.
I’ve recently been wearing Balega socks and I love them. I’ll be interested to hear your review of Jogology.
My pecs are sore just reading about your bench presses. How do you do negatives?
Kimberly Hatting says
Nice work, Marcia! Progress is fun, isn’t it? 😉 The Jogology socks have me intrigued, as I was also a fan on Balega.I am also hopeful for an early spring because an early summer would logically follow, ha!

I’m glad to hear you’re doing ok and that the weather treats you well too. Those socks look good! I love running socks, they are so comfy even if you don’t run. Looks like a good week with a lot of walking and more. Hope you can get back to running soon.

I just had a look at the jogology website to learn about who is behind the company. I do like the Balega socks for road running and it looks like jogology has similar products.
For the trails, I need socks that close snugly at the cuff, otherwise I always have sand and pebbles in my socks. Who knows, maybe jogology will include these type of socks one day.
Jenn says
I hope you are able to get back to you normal routine soon. Pneumonia is no joke.
I have been running in Jogology for a few months and really like them. They are so light I barely know I have them on!
Keep on recovering!

Like many others here, I hadn’t heard about Balega; those were some of my go-to socks! I’ll check out Jogology if it is available here.
Glad you’re on the mend- pneumonia is no joke.
The weather sounds lovely for this time of year!
