Although I’m not running the Berlin Marathon this year, I’m coaching a few runners who are, so for me, all roads lead to Berlin. It was fun to send them all off this week with one last pep talk. Back home, here’s how my workouts shook out.
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, 20 min bike hill & sprint intervals, Full Body Strength
Monday: Walk 4 miles, rest
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, 1 hr Andy Speer Strength + Core
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, 1 hour yoga
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 5 miles
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Just a little throwback pic from Berlin. I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since I ran there. It was my first international full marathon and 4th of the 6 World Marathon Majors.
The seasons are definitely changing here. I find myself shifting from opening the windows to let the cool air in, to closing them to preserve the warmth, to keeping them closed to preserve the cool air. Basically the temperature has been all over the place, but the furnace will be on soon enough and I never look forward to that day.
I’d hoped to run on Tuesday, but it became a whole rainy day, which we haven’t had all summer, until now. There were more thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday featured gloomy showers as well.
Our walking streak, that started back in March of 2020 remains strong, and now that the sun rises so much later, we’re treated to some amazing views in the morning. In other news I’m celebrating a work anniversary with Lululemon and I have an exciting new contract. Cheers to a great year ahead!

I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since you ran Berlin–I remember when we met up for lunch and you brought your medal to show me! Speaking of lunch…are things winding down for you? I’d love to catch up.

Great photos!
Berlin was TEN years ago for me, I can’t believe it…it was my first international as well. I was very inspired watching it this morning! Incredible. Looked like a great day, I hope your athletes did well!

That sunrise is amazing! Congrats on your anniversary with Lululemon!
Here you go to bed most days and it’s warm (not always) — enough that our second floor bedroom needs a little AC. Then you wake up and you’re cold!
The heating/plumbing guy is coming out this coming week. It’s time!

Well done on your work anniversary! We’ve closed the bedroom windows at night which is always a real autumn thing for me (my office window is still on the snib). Mind you, we’ve also got Covid so it’s hard to tell if we’re warm or cold! I blame the new leggings I bought and got excited about ….

That sunrise pic! I’m kind of hit & miss on the sunrises these days, since they’re “rising” so late and I’m usually back home from whatever #OptOutside endeavor I’ve done for the morning, LOL.I remember you’re Berlin adventure! Great job on maintaining the walking streak 😉

Wow, you have run some incredible races. I’m sure you have some amazing memories.
There are definitely benefits to the darker mornings- it’s nice to be out as the sun is rising! Your photo in beautiful.
I’m getting my runfessions ready!

I just did the Berlin Marathon yesterday! This time I actually managed to finish it, ha!
It was an amazing experience. It’s a fast course, but very congested. It took me a good 12km of weaving to finally get into a groove.

What a beautiful sunrise picture!
I’m looking forward to heading to New England with our gravel bikes in a few weeks to check out the leaves. Here’s hoping the weather will be as spectacular as it was last fall.
Having run the MCM 10 times, I can’t wait to check out your video. I’m sure it will bring back some fun memories!

Good luck to all your runners!
I wish we could open the windows here, but it’s just too buggy and humid. Even with screens.
I ran a 5k in the Bahamas once, but that’s the extent of my international running.
Black Knight says
The sunrise is amazing, I love to run and watch the sunrise.
Good luck to your runners.
I have run in Berlin, Athens, Edinburgh (4 times) and Cardiff.

All of my friends who ran Berlin had a tough race! I heard it was a bit warm maybe? My husband and I have been talking about running it next year. Do you have any experience with using Marathon Tours for Berlin? I’m not sure what the downside of that would be (other than price maybe?).
Tony Volkas @ 1PLs says
I have a friend and he ran in that marathon! He said he liked it, but it was stuffy. I admire people who run marathons. It takes a lot of patience, time and moral strength to prepare for marathons and this deserves respect. It’s really cool that people find the strength to run so many kilometers. For me, even 5 kilometers is difficult, not to mention marathons. It feels like marathon runners don’t get tired at all while running, but as if they are walking and i just do not understand how it works hahaha. I am in love with this kind of people! They are so strong and deserve respect.
