This week! Oh this week. This was the week with all the back-to-school open houses, meet the teachers and band exhibitions. Mix into that full-time work, insane heat, and my friend’s wake and funeral, and the week felt full, not in a good way. I kept moving though, here’s how the workouts went:
Sunday: Walk 4 miles Trail Run 5 miles
Monday: Walk 4 miles, rest
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Wednesday: Walk 2 miles, Strength + Core
Thursday: Walk 2 miles, otherwise rest
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Tabata + Strength
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, rest
I failed to take a single running pic this week so I’ll share a sunset instead, as they’ve been stunning lately. The sun in late summer just hits different. The extreme heat (they were not kidding with a feels like of 120) caused me to cut a couple of my walks short. It’s just too hot for Oz (and us) to be out very long, except in the early morning.
Speaking of Oz, we celebrated National Dog Day of course. My very best boy is also the King of the Side Eye.

I guess we lucked out… the heat did not head west.
Thanks for sharing your sun pics… my only view have been sunflower fields… lately I rarely see the sunrise of sunset.
You are so consistent with your daily walks… I’ve been slacking on those… marathon brain!

I am sorry to read you had a rough week. Way to stay consistent through the heat, school and what must have been a tough funeral. Hugs to you and hope you have a better week

You had a consistent week of workouts in spite of the difficulties. I’m sorry about your friend, that must be hard. I know the back to school stuff can be overwhelming- you finish a full day of work and then realize you have to schlepp over to the high school, when all you want to do is relax. Well- things will calm down (?) At least your intense heat should be over for this season.
Liz Dexter says
That’s a really hard week, glad you’ve got through it.

Funerals make a tough week even tougher. You did amazing with keeping up with your workouts despite all the challenges.
Did you see the women’s marathon at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest yesterday? They had to deal with intense heat and humidity. I felt sorry for them.

So sorry for the tough week, Marcia. Wish I could hug you in person <3 I have been lacking in sunrise/sunset pics recently…probably because the sunrise is coming so late these days, it's making its grand appearance after I've gone back inside. Sigh.
Wendy says
Sorry you had such a tough week–I didn’t realize you were working so much!
I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend. We also had a loss–a friend of both of ours, who stood up at our wedding, passed away. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend his memorial because of work. It was just too soon to lose him.

Hugs, Marcia. Gone far too early.
That sunset view is stunning. I hope it’s soothing a little bit to have that to look at.
Thankfully the heat will not hit here — Bandit is so darn heat intolerant.

That sounds like a rough week for you. Going to a friend’s funeral must be so hard.
And that heat! Just wow. Well done keeping active.
I hope you’ll get a more relaxing week ahead.

I’m so sorry it was a tough week Marcia – especially the loss of your friend. Sending you lots of hugs. I hope this week is quieter for you.

That sounds like a rough week. I’m sure grief makes every thing feel harder, and the heat just exacerbates it.
I hope this week is better.

haha, Ozzy and the side-eye, what a cutie. Every day feels like dog day over here, without kids especially. We took them to this “Big Woof” festival yesterday at King’s Cross that I believe was technically for International Dog day, it was adorable.
That sunset really is stunning. Thank you for sharing!

So sorry to hear about such a tough week with so much going on. Here’s hoping this week is a little less hectic and sad.
That is crazy high heat. Luckily, we didn’t get anything like that in the DC area. It was hot and humid on Friday, but nothing like that!
Black Knight says
Sorry for the tough week.
Ozzy is too cute. I miss a dog but I have too many cats at home and in the backyard.
Here heat was terrible but, luckily, today is a rainy day!

Back to school is always so busy! We’ve had all kinds of things going on! Love Oz’s side eye! He know every day is Oz day!
