I am back from what may very well be the most amazing trip I’ve ever been on. I’m readjusting quite well to the change in time zones and there’s so much to tell you it’s honestly pretty overwhelming. While I’m not ready to share a complete post-vacay rundown, I’ll give you a quick overview of our travels.
The family with our safari Ranger and Tracker
This trip took months of planning. It had a lot of moving parts and we weren’t quite sure how or if it would all shake out, but wow. At the end of the day, it all came together beautifully. So. Many. Flights. I’m pretty proud of my finely-honed ability to sleep on planes. Practice makes perfect I guess. Here’s how we moved around the world:
Chicago
Connect in Atlanta
3 days in Capetown, SA
2 days in Zimbabwe for Victoria Falls and Elephant Rescue
1 Day in Johannesburg, SA
4 Days on Safari in Hoedspruit, SA
3 Days in Amsterdam, NL
Each part of our journey was so amazing in and of itself, it’s tough to sort through all the highlights. You can expect a massive photo dump in the future. I’ve also shared quite a bit over on Facebook and Instagram.

An amazing trip! I can sleep on planes, in fact last time we flew I was asleep for takeoff! It’s a good superpower to have, right?

Your trip definitely looked amazing! I have a lot of trouble sleeping on a plane, but the longest flight I’ve ever taken was to Hawaii — nowhere near as long as your flight.
Someday I really hope to visit some of the places you went to!

I am so happy you had a great time!!! How was the weather when you were in Cape Town? I hope it was good enough for you to go up Table Mountain.
I would love to go to see the Victoria Falls, that’s on our plan for next year. Would you recommend it?

What an amazing vacation. I would like to visit SA if ….. only my wife was not afraid of flying.
Luckily I could visit Amsterdam and other cities around it: very beautiful and interesting places.

you really had an amazing trip! I have only been to Rwanda (and only 5 days) but it was the most incredible experience!! And I only did coffee farms and helped in a community project so I still have to go back to other countries to be a tourist!
really sad I missed you while you were here but totally understand. It’s different when you are with your family!

Sounds like an amazing trip! Quick question, did you need a visa for any of the Africa bits?
