Valentine’s week was all about travel or shall I say getting ready to travel. Thing 2 shipped out to Orlando with her school marching band and we headed to Atlanta for our final college visit before Thing 1 graduates. Here’s how the workouts went before we left:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail run 4 miles
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest, well work
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Treadmill 4 miles, sauna
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Strength + Core, Travel Day
Friday: Atlanta
Saturday: Atlanta
Sunday: Atlanta
Valentine’s Week Rundown
Early in the week, we enjoyed mild weather, especially for February, with plenty of sunshine. I ran early before the trails thawed, because when they did, they were a flooded, mushy mess.
By mid-week, more seasonal (cold) weather blew in on 45mph howling winds that sent me to the pain cave for some strength and treadmill shenanigans.
Our Valentine’s Day was low-key, celebrated at one of our favorite sushi spots.
On Thursday, we got out of town and headed South. While Atlanta’s weather isn’t great, I’ll take 60’s over teens and icy wind any day so no complaints here.
Runfession Friday Linkup
It’s that time once again. Join me right here this Friday for the February edition of the Runfession Friday Linkup!
How was your week? Has it been mild? Has old man winter made an appearance? Any trips coming up?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!
Wendy says
Lucky you, escaping this cold week. Fortunately, it’s started thawing. Enjoy your time in Atlanta!
Runfessions already?
Coco says
That photo is lovely!
I hop you are enjoying Atlanta!
How can it be time for runfessions already???
Deborah Brooks says
Have a great time in Atlanta! those college years do fly by. Runfessions already!?
Jenny says
Ha ha… I was about to exclaim that it’s time for Runfessions already, but it sounds like everyone feels the same way. I hope you’re enjoying your time in Atlanta- it must be bittersweet. I love the sunrise (or sunset?) photo!
Kimberly Hatting says
Yeah, ditto…Runfessions really snuck up on us this month! Old Man Winter and Momma N threw a major snow party on Thursday here, but the bulk of the snow was gone by yesterday. I hope your trip to Atlanta has been a great one!
Susanne says
How nice for you to get some mild nice weather! I hear you about muddy sticky trails… seen much of that in Sweden. Or even here after some heavy rains. We had a mild week here too with 55F and I’ve really been enjoying it.
Michelle says
Yay for escaping to Atlanta! Amazing to think you have a graduation on the horizon. We had pretty mild weather here most of the week but Mother N has quickly reminded us that it’s still winter.
Teresa says
Roses are always nice. Getting on the trails before they turn into slush also nice. Warm in Atlanta sounds perfect to me right now.
Debbie says
Hope you’ve had a wonderful time in Atlanta! See you Friday in the Runfessional!
Jenn says
We had sushi on Valentine’s Day, too!
It was cold for a few days, but we are warming up again.
The boys are going to the March Madness games in Orlando in a few weeks. I was hoping to go to the Strawberry Festival in South Florida, but looks like I get stuck at home again. Oh, well.
Catrina says
You have such a great gym at home!! Just today at Crossfit I was thinking how nice it would be to have a rack like that at home.
We do our workouts on a tiled floor on the balcony and we have to be very careful about not dropping the weights. I should get some rubber mats to put over the tiles.
Darlene Cardillo says
Hope your trip to Atlanta went well.
It’s always a good idea to escape the cold.
Yes I did. The weather was lovely.
Cari says
mm sushi! and what a great sunrise
Was just listening to a podcast about bar work and then you pick that pic. Had to laugh
Travel safe!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Is your daughter marching at the parade in Disney? That was so fun when my son did it this year. I hope you are having a great time in Atlanta.
Kim G says
A low key Valentine’s Day sounds great, and that sushi looks so yummy!

OMG how did I miss it’s Runfessions again already? Hmmm. I’ve got to think of some . .
You know you had me had sushi. 🙂 Forget the roses, just bring me sushi!
I’m sure Atlanta is bittersweet — but yup, 60s at home was marvelous. Too bad it’s back to Winter now!
