Not sure if it was last week’s Friday the 13th combined with Mercury in Retrograde, lack of Vitamin D or I’m a late comer to the mid-life crisis, but it was an ornery kind of week. Before I get to that, here’s how the workouts went.
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Hour of Power 2x(10 tread, 10 bike, 10 strength)
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Run treadmill intervals + Strength
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Bootcamp
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
An Ornery Kind of Week
As I mentioned above, I’ve been ornery. With my word of the year being FOCUS, I’m working hard to fight distraction and use my time as efficiently as possible. I made solid progress on that this week, but on sthe flipside, I’ve been super irritated with clients that don’t respect my time. According to the Caveman, I “take things too personally” and need to remember that it’s just business. Point taken. Moving on.
Let the record show I hit the 1k mark on Peloton this week as well as did my 500th meditation. My favorite workout of the week was Monday’s “Hour of Power”. HOP is my own concoction so don’t look for it on Peloton. Ha! I’d forgotten how much I love speed intervals and putting on the Nike Alphaflys I typically save for the track brought me joy. There’s nothing like picking up the pace a little (or a lot) for a nice boost of endorphins.

I’ll leave you with this sunrise view from the trail. It’s so nice to catch a glimpse of the sun at such a gloomy time of year.

I think this neverending grayness is getting to everyone. I commented on Jessie’s post about patients not respecting my time, so I get it. I don’t get ornery, but I feel kind of panicky when they keep me in the room too long. I don’t want to cut them off, and sometimes it’s hard to extricate myself from the conversation! So I feel you.
I think I’m going to take a page from your training manual and do some intervals on the TM instead of just running. I struggled with that this week.
Deborah Brooks says
I also like a little speed interval thrown in! This weather has been awfullly Un motivating for sure. I cannot complain bc it’s Been pretty mild so far and no snow or ice at all. I also take things way too personally sometimes. I think that means we are nice people 🙂

20 minutes. I’m jealous. Lol.
What a crappy weather week. And that makes me moody.
But I’m home this week, hopefully the storm tonight does not do too much damage to my running routes.

I’m grateful we had sunshine because all the snow was a bit much for me. I hear ya on the treadmill speed fun! I’ve learned, for me, the best ‘mill coping vice is intervals aplenty. That sunrise pic is beautiful!!!

I’m sorry about the orneryness. I too get cranky when people waste my time — it’s just rude and self-centered!
LOL on your hour of power — looks like a spicy combination!

I had quite a few frustrations this week — tis the season, amiright? We’re only human! But people who don’t respect your time ARE annoying.
Yes, every glimpse of the yellow thing (none today) is most welcome. Although I see shoveling in my future tomorrow.
Jessie says
Got to get those 20 minutes! Love your yellow top. We’re allowed to have grouchy weeks for no reason sometimes 🙂
can I use a post about likes and dislikes about London as a runfession? 🙂 I

Your Hour of Power workout sounds fun! I notice that you and Wendy both mentioned getting a tiny glimpse of sun- yes, it’s very gray there this time of year! If I had to guess, I would say that’s what’s making you ornery. You need a trip to Florida!

I feel you on the ornery week! Work was frustrating and this gloomy weather certainly isn’t helping.
Your Hour of Power sounds like a good one! And congrats on hitting the 1K mark on Peloton.

I get you on the “just business” thing but I also think it’s annoying when people don’t respect other people’s time, I would also be frustrated. But also, you probably can’t do anything about it and then it’s better to let it go and move on.
I’ve certainly been moody this week, because of a new injury and other things. The weather has been very gloomy here too and even with snow at the beginning of the week.

I hear you! I feel like I switch up my schedule to accommodate my clients a lot more than they do so for me. My other pet peeve is when I reschedule to fit someone in and then they cancel the night before.

Hmmm, I was accused of being cranky just today! I’d say it was more feeling unappreciated and sick of picking up after my family (when they should be doing it themselves!). But I digress… 😉
Hope you are having a great week!

I love that photo of you in the yellow sweater! Sun makes all the difference!
We arrived in Cape Town last week and I had a completely new appreciation for all the sunshine.
500 meditation sessions! I’m sure that really helps when dealing with all the hectic craziness. Wishing you a wonderful week, Marcia!

I understand what your husband means by not taking things too personally – that’s something I need to work on – but it’s definitely hard not to get upset when people don’t respect your time. I am always on time if I need to meet someone so I always expect the same in return.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Whether it is personal or business, everyone needs to respect others’ time. I would be annoyed too. I am tired of the gloomy days. I need more sunshine. I was moody last week but I think it was because of the period and that time of the month. Not feeling so crabby anymore. 🙂
