Thanksgiving week was a blur. Tons of work, interspersed with holiday prep, as well as my best effort to enjoy having everyone home. Here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run, I don’t even remember how long it was
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Tabata, Strength
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Bootcamp, Upper body Strength + Core
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Trot 4 Miles
Friday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Plyometric Intervals (college girl headed back to ATL)
Sunday: Walk 2 miles, Heavy Strength
Thanksgiving Week
Our mild weather returned, which was most welcome. Our daily walks were gorgeous and so enjoyable. Ozzy loves terrorizing the geese and fish.
I was so grateful to participate in our virtual blogger virtual trot. Thanks to Carianne for organizing it! You all are the reason I continue to write this blog!
Thanksgiving was nice, with a smaller group of family. Just 10 this year vs the usual 16+. I’m not sure why, but the bird took FOR EVER to roast. A full hour beyond what Google said was needed before it was up to temperature. Geez.
The highlight here was the sweet potatoes. Since certain people weren’t here this year I strayed away from the brown sugar/marshmallow crusted ones and made Roasted Hasselback sweets topped with pecans, thyme and some parmesan. Oh man were they ever good and so pretty too. Of course I didn’t get a pic.

I laughed so hard when I saw this meme. I hope that was not me! Never!
How was your week? What was your Thanksgiving highlight? Any Black Friday scores? How do you like your sweet potatoes?

I love sweet potatoes but we didn’t have them. Me just butter and brown sugar or in soup. Those deserts look amazing.
No Black Friday shopping. I worked.
My week highlight was just family friends and racing.

It sounds like you had a good Thanksgiving.
We did not have sweet potatoes this year. I tried a new approach to mashed potatoes — roasting instead of boiling first. Somehow it seemed easier.
I was not inspired to do any Black Friday shopping. I hate browsing on-line.

Aside from all the frantic work, it sounds like you had a great holiday! I don’t miss all the shopping, prep, and cooking of Thanksgiving! They recently changed chefs where my mom lives & even my husband said the dinner was very good.

I’m sure those sweet potatoes were delicious! We always just do regular mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving and no sweet potatoes. So you cooked for 10 people? That oreo cheesecake looks amazing- I’m impressed.
I always work on Black Friday, which makes me a little cranky, but then I tell myself it’s better to be earning money than spending it. I hope you got a little time off after Thanksgiving- it’s not exactly a relaxing holiday.

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! That oreo cheesecake looks amazing!
I did a little damage on Black Friday – couldn’t resist the Athleta deals 😉

I actually prefer my sweet potatoes just baked (like a regular potato, LOL) with a little bit of butter. I’m not a fan of the canned ones with all the “fluff” on top. Very minimal Black Friday shopping for me, but I BF-fess I got a lot of it done prior to the actual day itself. I love that meme…I don’t think it’s ever been me, but my mom (and late MIL) had that T-Rex down to perfection 😉

10 instead of 16! Ten would be enough to turn me into a T-Rex. I’m very bad at staying calm when we have guests, it drives Kai nuts.
When will your college girl be back? Christmas?
Well done on those cakes!
Deborah Brooks says
one of our guests made some sweet potatoes that sound like yours. I do not like the ones w marshmallows either. This week really kicked my butt! I was so happy to have everyone here but wow I am tired today.

I’m not a fan of the sweetened sweet potatoes–like Kim, I like mine baked with a bit of butter. I didn’t host this year but I made all kinds of things to bring to Lisa’s. I’m just exhausted from hanging with the boys and it is absolutely the best kind of exhaustion, not like that work kind. Time to dig in and get ready for the holidays!

Is there a recipe for that Oreo cheesecake? I would love to make that for Christmas!
OMG that meme may me laugh out loud!
Debbie says
I’m definitely going to try that sweet potato recipe. We love sweet potatoes and my favorite are the sweet potato fries – slice sweet potatoes in steak size fries, toss in tiny amount of olive oil, salt, pepper, and Rosemary. Bake at 425° for about 20-30 minutes, depending on thickness of fries.
I love your group of blogging friends!
