With the Caveman away on business, Thing 2 back in school, and Thing 1 home for just 6 days, my mission this week was to make the very most of our limited mother-daughter time together. Here’s how the week in workouts went.
Monday: Walk 2 miles, otherwise rest (well 5am photoshoot)
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Run 3 miles + Core
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Tabata, Strength/Balance/Mobility, Upper Body Strength
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Trail run 5 miles
Friday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Saturday: Walk 2 miles, Heavy Strength
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, run of some sort
Mom Nature was good to us this week. We enjoyed warm, sunny days with nights cool enough to turn off the air conditioning and open the windows. Morning runs in mid-50 temps are nothing short of divine. I did notice though, that there’s much more debris on the trails now. Acorns, black walnut pods and horse chestnuts made running rather treacherous.
I’ve also noticed the geese flying in their V-formation on a handful of occasions this week. Seems kind of early to think about migration doesn’t it? Typically migration starts in September. Wonder what that portends for winter?
Eating out, getting takeout and frozen custard made my Lumen readings pretty much a cluster this week, but who cares? This week was all about fun. We knocked out House of Gucci and went to see Where the Crawdads Sing. I can’t believe Monday will be Thing 1’s “last first” day of school as she begins her senior year at Georgia Tech. I know I say it all the time but time sure flies.

Strength, Balance & Mobility Workout. You read that right, this workout covers a lot of bases in a short amount of time. Grab your light hand weights and join me.
I’ll leave you with this sunrise pic. Now that the sun is rising so much later, it’s easier to be out in time to enjoy it. How’s that for glass half full?
Runfession Friday Linkup
This one sure snuck up! Join me here this Friday for the Runfession Friday linkup!
How was your week? Any signs of fall where you are?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

I can’t believe how early it gets dark each day. Not happy.
Same weather here. Cool early and then it warms up. But yesterday it did get up to 90.
Hope your daughters have a good school year. I’m sure it was nice to spend time with them. They grow up so fast.
Coco says
Sounds like a fun week! What was the Monday photo shoot? How was the movie? I enjoyed the book a few years ago.
We had a brief taste of fall weather, but summer is back!
Wendy says
Glad you are getting some time with M! Will you accompany her back to school?
Did you like the movie? I’m always worried that it will stray from the book.
Cari says
Senior year already, wow. We’ve really known each other a long time.
Glad you had a good week together! That sunrise. Just magic. We had similarly good weather and I loved it. Almost tempted to take the AC out again but I know that would jinx it.
Deborah Brooks says
glad you were able to squeeze in some fun quality time with your kids this week. the summer did fly by fast! Still feels like summer around here though
Jenny says
Runs in the mid-50s sound like heaven! We’re a long way away from that here. I’ll try your new workout (you know I’m a fan now!) And yes, runfession time definitely snuck up. I better start thinking about what I want to runfess!
Kimberly Hatting says
Quality time with the kids is so nice! The daughters and I have really had a great summer of bonding, sharing so many laughs and great conversation. I wish the son lived closer. I’m already noticing a few leaves changing color and fallen leaves on the ground…too soon, that’s all I got to say about that. Our driveway is a mess of acorn and walnut debris as well.

Fall is upon us! Those geese are smart.
Time really does fly. Sounds like a wonderful week of mother-daughter time. I need to go see Where the Crawdads sing!

The end of the week was hot, too bad about my race! And so it goes. And yes, I’ve seen large groups of geese migrating as well.
Where I was today, which is a higher elevation, already had trees turning.
Fun sounds good! I definitely could’ve gone for ice cream today but I also don’t want to go back out. It might b yogurt for dinner . . .
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oh, I’m also listening to Where the Crawdads Sing on the way back & forth to my mom. Just about one more trip will almost wrap it up. Amazing book!
Catrina says
A photoshoot on Monday morning at 5am? That sounds very interesting. You must have gotten the perfect sunrise light for that shoot.
Talking of which, that’s a fabulous sunrise photo!
I saw the House of Gucci on the plane and I really liked it. Amazing what a good actress Lady Gaga is.
Michelle says
So glad you got to spend some time with M before she returns to school. Time really does move way too fast!
I like your glass-half-full perspective on the later sunrise. I miss the extra daylight but welcome the fall weather.
I runfess that I will miss this week’s runfessions as I’ll be in the thick of college move-in.
Kim G says
Glad that you were able to have a fun week with your daughter, and that the weather cooperated too!
I haven’t seen too many geese here but it does seem kind of early for them to start migrating.

I love that you got to spend time with your daughters. And I agree on the food, sometimes you just need to enjoy it. I run around 4:30 in the morning so I had sunrises during the longer days, but now it’s usually dark when I finish. Enjoy those sunrises, they are beautiful. Great workout week.
Jenn says
Crazy busy week and fall is no where in sight. Our sunrises are fine, but I am almost missing them entirely because I’m going out too early.
