It’s time to sit down, relax and catch up with Deborah, Coco and you, at the first coffee date of summer. I’m going with coffee I got in Portland when I was there for the Nike intern drop-off. A cute little coffee roaster called Fetch is right in Thing 1’s neighborhood and all the coffees are dog themed. Today I’m drinking one called Muddy Paws.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you have plans for the holiday weekend. We’re celebrating all of the July birthdays (there are 6 of them) with the Caveman’s side of the family on 7/3, then we’re headed to the lake for some July 4th shenanigans with friends. I am very much looking forward to some time off work!
Over coffee I’d ask you if this felt like the longest week ever. Blame it on the upcoming holiday, but I swear it felt like Friday on Tuesday and every day thereafter.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you’re doing any gardening lately. While I considered taking a plot in our community garden, I quickly ditched that plan and, veggie-wise, all I’ve got this year is one pathetic container of tomatoes growing on our deck and a few perennial herbs in the garden. Better than nothing I guess.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you have goals for July. I’ve been using my Lumen Metabolism tracker all year and I can tell you it helps me keep my eating and activity on track. It also helps me understand the impact of stress and sleep on the metabolism. I’m waking up in what used to be an elusive fat burn mode, pretty consistently now, and I feel great. I attribute it to shifting the types of workouts I do, as well as timing when I consume various foods. This holiday weekend only, take advantage of Lumen’s 4th of July sale and save $100! Learn more here.
Have a safe and fun holiday weekend! What would you tell me over coffee?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Yes, last week did feel like the longest week ever. At least it finally is Friday for real.
We don’t have ANY place for this weekend. I’m sure we’ll go for a bike ride or two …. Your plans for the 4th sound like a lot of fun. I hope the celebrations with the ILs is fun too.

This week felt off to me the whole time maybe bc of travel last week. We are doing our yearly run into DC on the 4th hoping I don’t melt. I have fallen off of using the lumen lately but I guess I could go back. I got frustrated w it a while back. Have a great weekend!

Yes, it was a weird week for various reasons- I kept forgetting what day it was. I do have July 4th off and I’m looking forward to it! My weekend won’t be quite as eventful as yours, but that’s okay. I need the rest!

Thant’s a lot of birthdays… then you’re home fee?
I have perennials to feed the deer and some tomato plants that may give one or two tomatoes… lol
I have Monday off for a race and Tuesday off for a hike… then off to NYC for work…

I am off to my moms for the fourth, but at least with my husband (and Bandit) in tow so I don’t have to do all the driving.
Our raised beds had the bottom literally fall out in the Spring. Mr. Judy fixed them (I didn’t ask him to). I planted nothing. Nada. I think there’s a cucumber plant growing in there, and the rest is weeds. Needless to say, Mr. Judy isn’t very pleased.
Have a fun weekend with your friends, Marcia!

Awh, what a cute themed coffee shop! How does Ozzy feel about it? Sounds like an exciting & busy holiday weekend on the roster… enjoy!
Catrina says
What an interesting idea to make all the coffee dog-themed. I guess most of their guests come with their dogs and they have free dog treats?
Time at the lake with friends sounds wonderful! Have a lovely and above all relaxing holiday!
Michelle says
It did feel like the longest week – I thought Friday would never come!
Sounds like a fun weekend ahead – Enjoy!!
Wendy says
This month actually felt like the longest month ever. Glad we are moving on to July. We’re home this weekend but we’ve got some fun things planned! I’m looking forward to it.

I will be working for 1.5 days out of the 3-day weekend, but I’m having my family over for a long-overdue housewarming, and looking forward to having tomorrow off! :]
I’ve been meaning to start gardening but might leave it for next year because there’s so much to work on right now. (Hopefully by then I’ll have more of an idea of what I’m doing too!)

Wow, tons of birthday’s in July, how fun! I do agree that last week was the longest ever – June just seemed to drag on. The metabolism tracker looks super interesting, I’m gonna check it out. I’ve been thinking a lot more about my nutrition and activity lately.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great idea to celebrate all of the birthdays together. But that is a lot of them. Cute roastery! A cat one will be cute too. I have a race on Monday in Elmhurst. Last time I ran it was in 2019 so I am looking forward to it.
Renée says
hope you all have a lot of fun celebrating this weekend!
funny you should mention gardening; we ARE actually giving it a shot and trying to come up with ways to keep cats from pooping in both the front and back gardens! I love cats but my cats are strictly indoor. So far I’ve got coffee grounds, orange peels and eggs shells amongst my plants these days!
I am still fiddling with the Lumen. Some days I just don’t understand how it could be one way or another to be honest. but I am trying to be more aware of what I’m eating and when, plus timing my workouts. It’s interesting in any case!
Jenn says
No gardening for me! I have no talent for it!
I adore the dog-themed coffee. So cute.
Hope you have a great week!
