Well hello SUMMER! I’ve waited a long time to see you and enjoy your warm breezes. I tried to make the most of this first week of long, yet fleeting summer days. Here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Tuesday: Walk 2 miles, Run 20 minutes, Strength 20 minutes
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, HIIT Interval Workout + Core
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Track 4 miles
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Strength + Core
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Sunday: TBD
The big news here is I finally made it over to the track. It took two tries: It was packed on my first visit so the next day I got there earlier and was rewarded with an empty track. I am woefully out of shape speed-wise but that’s to be expected. I just ran the straightaways and jog/walked the curves. It was a start.
What really motivated me to head to the track were these shoes that arrived on my doorstep, courtesy of my new Nike connection, Thing 1. Haha! See the unboxing and first test run here. It’s been years since I’ve worn the Nike Pegasus but I have to say I am loving this update so far. I wonder if my “shoe fairy” might wave her magic wand and make a Pegasus Trail shoe appear…
I little lighter workload this week afforded me space to fit in lunch with Wendy. Sadly we neglected to document this with any pics.

Low-Impact HIIT. This is a great workout when you’re pressed for time or it’s just too dang hot to run. Grab your weights and join me.
How was your first week of summer? Do you have summer goals?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

Thanks for the reminder. I need to head to the track.
Summer has arrived. But it’s leaving tomorrow.
No real goals. Well to use my SUP. Get on my bike. Keep up the runs. Start training for the fall half marathons? Are you coming to Cape Cod?

new shoes are always fun! I don’t do my speed work on the track but I am enjoying have some short speed sessions in my weekly rotation. Summer running is so challenging!

So great to have that Nike connection (even if I don’t run in their shoes and almost never have). Great job getting back on a track! I don’t think the track near me is still open to the public — although I don’t really know. My speedwork tends to be on the road.
Fingers crossed about the Nike trail shoes! That would be sweet!

Sounds like you had a nice week! Work must have slowed down a little if you got all those workouts in. I never run in Nikes- they just don’t seem to fit the shape of my clown feet- but I wish I had a shoe fairy!
So you and Kim both got on the track this week- the only track I have available is at my husband’s school and it’s about 15 minutes away. I might try to get there a few times this summer though.

Hah! That deer is busted checking out your tasty greenery.
Nice to have a shoe connection! My first running shoes were Nike Shox because my husband thought they looked cool. They were not the shoe for me, but I had to learn that the hard way.
Nice to have lunch with Wendy!

Yay the track! I think that’s the first time I’ve seen a black track. In Switzerland, the tracks are always red. In Cape Town, they’re light blue.
I wish I had a Nike or Asics connection. So cool!

So nice to have a shoe fairy 😉
Nice work getting back to the track. It’s been more than a minute since I’ve done any speedwork.

Those new Pegasus are quite lovely! Too bad I’m wedded to Brooks….lol
I’m sorry we forgot to get a picture on Thursday. Guess we’ll have to meet up again, SOON! It was just great to catch up with you.

I love track workouts. Glad you were able to get out there. The sprint straights and jog curves is a great speed workout. I agree with Jenny. I tried Nike and I wear size 12 shoes and they just don’t seem to fit my clown feet either. So cool that you have a shoe connection though.
Kimberly Hatting says
oooh, I like the idea of spinting the straightaways and recovering (?) on the curves. I might have to give that a try! As you may remember, I’m not a fan of the track, so I need to find some new (creative!) ways to “dislike it less.” You are lucky to have a shoe fairy!
Cari says
Glad you got to see Wendy
And yay on the track. I loved running it and wish mine was closer since that’s much more fun than measuring the varied distances. I do love the bridle path surface though
Awesome on the shoe fairy

Track workouts are so fun! Lucky you to have one nearby.

Glad you were able to hit the track last week. I have not done a track workout in years but I try to do interval training on the treadmill a few times a week.
Glad you got to see Wendy too!
Liz Dexter says
No goals here, just keep running every week and keep socialised with my lovely friends.

Now that’s what you call having connections in high places!! LOL! Glad you’re enjoying them so far and well done for getting back to the track!
