Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there, whether you’re a human mom, plant mom, pet mom or you have a mom, I’m celebrating all of us!
Here’s how the first week of May went down workout wise:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 5 miles
Tuesday: Walk 1 mile (so gross out), Strength Interval workout
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise chaos…I mean rest
Thursday: Walk 2 miles, oral surgery…ouch
Friday: Walk 1 mile, treadmill 3 miles
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Run Like a Mother 5k
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
After the cluster that was last week, I was determined to do a better job of setting boundaries and managing my time according to my priorities. While this week was not pretty by any means and things will be rough for a few more weeks, I felt like I gained a bit more control. It meant blocking out time and saying no to a few projects but it had to be done.
We had plenty of rainy, windy cold, overcast weather to go around this week as per usual, but by Saturday the clouds broke and the sun made a long-awaited appearance.
I had the most perfect morning to knock out the Run Like a Mother virtual, trail style of course!
We had several friends graduate from college this weekend, including Thing 1’s sorority big sister and I couldn’t help but get a little wistful. I remember many of them as preschoolers and it’s surreal to see them all grown up and ready to begin the next chapter. Congrats to all of the graduates on such a huge milestone!

No gorgeous weather. I’m sure as I leave on vacation it will arrive.
Happy Mother’s Day.
We both got in some good runs so that’s a win.
Hope you have the same this coming week

I’m so glad you had a better week. It’s easy to get sucked into work, that’s for sure! I was so happy to see the sun finally, but this prolonged rainy/cold/windy stretch did a number on my psyche. I’m heading out this morning for a run and hoping to start to shake off the funk. It will help once the mud dries up!
Happy Mother’s Day!

My daughter sent me an article about the lack of sun in Chicago these past few weeks. It’s tough for sure to have it so dreary every day. Glad to read you had a better week. Happy Mother’s day to you

Yay for setting boundaries! I’m not saying no to clients, but I am asking for longer turn-around times when there’s no reason to do ^everything^ ASAP.
Mother’s Day is bittersweet these days, because my time with my kids is less and less frequent. At least I will see my son tomorrow.

Happy Mother’s Day to you too! Yes, it’s a bittersweet time of year, with graduations happening. Luckily I don’t have anyone close to me graduating this year- last year I was a mess with my son graduating from high school.
Sounds like you had a better week and some good workouts. Hey, I just heard it could get up to 90 in Chicago next week- that’ll be fun, right? (ha ha.)

I’m glad you had a better week – keep setting those boundaries where you can!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Thumbs up for a better week! We had rain in last week’s forecast, for everyday but Wednesday…but didn’t get a fraction of it. The temps were still chillier than they should have been, but warmed up nicely from Thursday afternoon and on. Ouch to the oral surgery…I hope it wasn’t anything serious.

All the weird and mostly wet weather here too. But the sun came out today and I got some porch time!

Saying no and setting boundaries is hard. Well done, Marcia!
What’s with the oral surgery? Sounds pretty painful, but it didn’t seem to interrupt your fitness routine, which is great news!

So happy to hear you set some boundaries – I think I need to do a bit more of that, I’ve felt quite overwhelmed the last few weeks.

This week will be our week for some good weather — in fact jumping right over Spring and moving into Summer, as per usual (not sure how long the warmer temps will stick around).
Glad that you’ve been able to set some boundaries, Marcia. The struggle is real!

Happy to hear that this week went better than last week. Although the weather was still kinda crazy, glad you had nice weather for the Run Like a Mother virtual race.
