Finally we had better weather this week….sort of…and I ran outside all week. Here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Strength
Wednesday: Walk 3 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Strength
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles, Core
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Strength + Bike Bootcamp
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, TBD
While Monday was mild, the unseasonable cold and wind returned, much to my dismay. Easter will be cold this year and yes, there’s more snow in the forecast too. I swear we cannot catch a break.
I underestimated the wind later in the week but even on the wooded trails with the wind advisory over, the wind was brutal. On a brighter note, the trails are starting to green up the slightest bit.
Since it’s Boston Marathon week and all, I’ve gotten lots of questions about it. Friends from back in my Boston days want us all to go run it again. Others ask if I’ve “broken up” with the marathon. The answer is while I’ll never say never, I have no plans to make a run for another BQ. I’m very grateful to have made that right on Hereford and left on Boylston twice, and I do have a twinge of regret for giving up my third BQ spot in 2011. Now I’m beyond excited for the athletes I coach to enjoy their time on that iconic racecourse.

We celebrated this guy’s 5th birthday this week. Seriously where has the time gone?
We also attended another of Thing 2’s solo and ensemble concerts, celebrated Passover with the in laws and we’re having a small Easter gathering here on Sunday.
I’m very much looking forward to shipping out to A-town later this week for a mother-daughter sorority weekend at Georgia Tech.

Seems like the weather is a blog theme this week! It looks like the Boston runners will have good weather for a change this year! While I wish I had run Boston, it is a dream that I had to let go of. I don’t see any marathons in my future. Yesterday’s 15 mile trail race was hard and incredibly humbling.
I will be flying into Atlanta later this week as well–I have that half marathon with Holly! Enjoy mom’s weekend!

Happy Passover and Easter to you all! NIce to celebrate both of them. I don’t see any marathons or BQ’s in my future and I am okay with that. I bet it’s fun to look back on and good luck to your athletes tomorrow!

ah, the elusive BQ. Going to Boston has been a topic of discussion for the past 11 years around here. My husband has ran it 8 times and was really hoping to join the 10 year club, but injuries sidetracked that. I’ve qualified twice (ran once, got cut the other time). It was an amazing race, and cheering at the race was maybe a bit more fun than running it! Another BQ is always in the back of my mind. Unfortunately with my birthday on April 20th, it ways takes me a year longer to “level up” than my friends. But… races in late fall will start my next age group level up… so that’s a thought! That mother-daughter weekend sounds great. Have fun!!

Crazy weather. It was 80 on Thursday. Today it is cold enough to snow.
BQ? Very very doubtful it will every happen.
So special that you ran it.
Happy holidays.

Happy Passover and Happy Easter! And yay on a fun trip on tap for next weekend!
Our weather has been all over the place. Please no snow when I’m in Chicago next week! I couldn’t handle the packing dilemma.

I hope all your Boston athletes will crush it tomorrow!
I would love to go to Boston one day. I’m running Berlin in September which is a qualifying race for Boston. Now you have set me off on a trail of thought…
Amazing how fast kids grow up! One year they’re playing with stuffed animals, the next they’re performing on a stage! Thing 2 looks good!

Awh, I love the pic of your two little sweeties! Facebook has been popping up a lot of Easter (and spring, in general) memories recently…and it’s sad (but also quite joyful) to see all those pics from the past. This may be our first Easter without ANY of our kids attending (still waiting to hear if one of the daughters can swing it). It’s great that you get to celebrate both Easter and Passover. My best friend from college is Jewish, and her and I were joking about swapping family dinners this week (due to some drama in both of our households, LOL). Have a great time at your mother-daughter gig at Georgia Tech!!

Ah, I had big goals of a BQ but as time goes on it seems less and less attainable. On the other hand I am getting older and in this case it’s a good thing! I would like the experience of running it someday. I’ll be watching tomorrow for sure.
i have memories growing up of going to church on Easter Sunday and being miserably cold because we were wearing dresses and it was SNOWING. I think Easter is pretty late this year and you’re still having winter weather! But… look on the bright side- soon you’ll be complaining because it’s 98 degrees (ha ha.)
Love the picture of your daughter!

Well…I’m here now and while I love the historical significance and the way the whole city embraces it, I do think its a LOT of hype and people forget that there are so, so many amazing marathons to experience. Maybe I will feel differently by end of day tomorrow, but I don’t have plans to return again any time soon, but hope to have some other exciting marathon experiences on the horizon. 😉
Happy birthday to the pup! Such a sweetie.
Enjoy your mother-daughter weekend!

That picture of your girls from back in the day is so sweet! A Boston run will never be in the cards for me unless I go the charity route…though I continue to toy with the idea of running another marathon next year.
I cannot believe you’ve got more snow in the forecast! We’ve had some great weather lately, but it’s pretty cool here today. Tomorrow should be good for the runners.
Happy Passover and Easter!

I think I might have to be 100 to BQ. Luckily it’s not a dream of mine.
Ozzy looks so debonair! Your daughter looks very relaxed.
Happy Easter!

Happy Passover and Happy Easter! I still can’t believe that the Midwest is seeing snow in April – that just seems cruel.
Ozzy is just so handsome – such a cute pup!

I’ll never get a BQ so that’s fine – but how do some people end up running a 7 hour plus Boston, do they get in another way? I knew quite a few people doing it so was poking around in the results!

Happy 5th birthday to your cutie! We had A’s final middle school concert last night. Next stop, high school band!
Have the best time this weekend! I know it will be so fun for both of you.
