I suppose that headline could be a touch misleading since I didn’t have the entire week totally to myself. While the Caveman was away all week long, Thing 2 was away at a leadership camp for a few days but then she’s at school…and work, so yes lots of time on my own.
Before I get to that, here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Strength stack, Trails 4 miles
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Bootcamp, Stretch Sauna
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, 45 min endurance treadmill run, sauna
Friday: Walk 2 miles, Strength + Core, Sauna
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles, Stretch, Sauna
Sunday: TBD
The Caveman had cancelled flights on both ends of his trip so he had to leave earlier than planned and returned a day later than planned. Air travel right now is not for the fain of heart. Sigh.
It was another challenging week weather wise with snow, more snow and when it wasn’t snowing it was pouring rain with plenty of wind. I reminded myself that when I was off running the London Marathon back in 2019, Thing 1 had a snowstorm on her prom day, so this weather is not unusual. April is not the spring-like month we think it should be.
Work was completely off the leash again this week, which pushed my workouts to the back burner. Next week is looking a little calmer so I’m going to focus on that.
I did manage to carve out time for lunch with Wendy and it was awesome. Time with friends is good for the soul!
I hit 200 meditations on the Peloton app. Meditating in the sauna is the ultimate relaxation, just saying.
I also got a new passport photo taken and the renewal process is in motion. Plans for that Australian vacation we’d planned on pre-Covid are finally coming together…fingers crossed!
One of the best parts of having the week to myself is I got to eat what I want when I want, which means earlier dinners.

Bodyweight Strength Workout. Sometimes you’re pressed for time and just want a quick, no-equipment workout. This sequence fits that bill! It’s perfect on days you have little time or no access to gym equipment.
I’ll leave you with this sunrise pic. We did manage to see the sun at least a tiny bit this week.
How was your week? Do you have plans for Easter? Passover?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

It was so great to see you and catch up! That trip does sound wonderful. And I keep thinking about that kitchen, lol…
Let’s not let it be so long before we get together again! <3

I often have a string of days where I am the only one here and truth be told I kind of like it sometimes too. My daughter and her beau are coming in for Passover yay. So great to see you and Wendy together. I should be up there this summer at some point and hope we can all meet up again. Australia was originally on our list for this summer but it was looking iffy due to covid so we pivoted

My husband doesn’t usually go away for more than 2 days, and that’s enough “me” time for me. Yesterday I had a day to myself and got a pedicure, read my book, and ate a simple vegetarian dinner. 🙂

You got to meet Wendy! So cool! That’s a very nice photo.
We worked in Zurich before we were self-employed. For 20 years, Kai used to travel to South Africa several times a year for two weeks at a time. I enjoyed my time alone at home. Everything stayed so clean and tidy!

How lovely you and Wendy met for lunch! Great photo.
Sounds like a great week! Meditating in the sauna sounds incredible. Jealous!

I kind of like my alone time in the house (well, I still have Max, LOL). Sounds like you had more snow than we did (we just had some of it overnight, into Friday), but we had a lot of rain. Spring in the Midwest definitely is not all it’s cracked up to be.

I love being able to cook for myself when my husband is gone! Except he’s rarely gone the last few years. He definitely gave me the side eye about the veggie lunch today, and his comment about how he hard some leftover ground beef was frostily greeted. Moving on.
Legs up the wall in a sauna is awesome, too, just sayin’.

I can’t even imagine a week to myself…. maybe someday, sigh! I’m pretty sure the best part would be not having to cook for anyone except myself.
We’ll see if I continue my streak and do your workout this week! I’m enjoying them.
Sorry about your crummy weather- that’s exactly how I remember April when I lived up there!

I had the house to myself for a few days last month and I admit that I did enjoy it! As you said, nice to eat what I wanted and when I wanted.
So great that you and Wendy were able to catch up! Definitely good for the soul.
I hope work calms down for you soon.

Such a bummer about your husband’s flights 🙁 I’ve heard so many horror stories from friends that have had to fly over the past few weeks. It makes me want to stay away from air travel for a bit longer!
Love that you were able to get lunch with Wendy! I miss you both!
Darlene says
I would love a week alone. But that never happens. Sigh.
That’s so exciting about Australia.

So lovely that you got to see Wendy! Hooray! I am trying to take Easter Friday and Monday off – most of my clients don’t have bank holidays so I don’t always get them myself!

Mr PugRunner just had to cancel his work trip. In addition to our fence/dishwasher/garage door opener nonsense, he got a text that his departing flight would be delayed due to baseball sized hail. He decided someone was telling him not to go. I’m not arguing.
We will have my parents for Easter and A will use the weekend to work on his last history project of the year.

Friend time is the BEST time for reals! Miss you lady!! And Austrailia? WOW, how exciting!
