March may have come in like a docile, purring kitten but it left like nasty Scar of Lion King fame. It was cold here this week, and when it wasn’t pouring cold rain laced with ice, it was snowing and blowing. Just nasty.
Here’s how the week in workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Balance & Mobility
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, 30 min bike, Upper body strength
Friday: Walk 4 miles, 30 min treadmill run, 30 min Pilates + Stretch
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Bike bootcamp, full-body strength
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
I got out on the trails early in the week. The sunshine was great but let the record show the wind was not my friend and 20 feels darn cold when it’s spring, or at least it should be.
No sooner did we turn the calendar page over to April that I started to feel anxiety from the impending “MAYhem” that May brings. Already I’m getting notices of AP tests, Prom, final band concerts an an out-of-state event we need to attend. Thing 1 finishes her junior year at Georgia Tech in 4 short weeks. How can that be? It all slips away so fast. While I’m wishing away this cruddy weather, I’m doing my best to stay mindful and in-the-moment because everything moves so fast. Daily meditation helps a ton.

Balance Training Workout. You probably know by now that I don’t believe anyone is a natural-born klutz. Like so many other things in life, balance is something that improves when we practice it. Add this quick sequence to your weekly routine and watch your balance improve!
I don’t do a ton of ambassadorships anymore but this is one of my all-time favorites. The program was in question when the founders of Balega sold the company last year, so I’m extra thrilled to be a part of this wonderful brand for another year. Not only does Balega make the very best socks, they’re a wonderful citizen of the world that gives back and helps so many people and communities that need it.
I’ll leave you with this pic of Ozzy, in his fresh-for-spring haircut. Now we just need some spring weather!
How was your week? Has spring arrived? Any races? Do you feel end-of-school-year stuff cropping up?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

congrats on Balega. I love their socks but I’m been very lazy about applying to ambassadorships.
What spring? Supposed to have rain/snow today!! No sign of buds here yet..
Empty nester here… glad those days are over… Good luck!

Wow, I can’t believe Thing 1 is finishing her junior year already. Time does fly. Our March went out like a lion too — including tornado warnings and a level 0 tornado down the road from Deborah. Hopefully spring will settle in now.

Awh, sweet Ozzie 🙂 Sounds like you got more snow than we did, but we definitely shared in the psychotic wind & cold temps. You upcoming May sounds much like my Aprils of past with tennis, golf, dance recitals, prom and graduation(s), and a few races thrown in as well. I miss all the activities but not the ongoing chaos… if that makes sense?

Ozzy looks so cute! Spring in the northern states is not for the faint of hear, I’m just sayin’.
Thankfully we don’t have to deal with school stuff. I am glad I’m not a sandwich person (elderly parents, young kids) because the elderly parents have been really, really draining).
Glad you got out on the trails before they got snow again!

Yes, I can’t believe the school year is almost over. We keep getting information about “dorm move out” from Baylor, WHAT? It really does go way too fast.
I’ll check out your balance video! Yes, balance is super important, for everyone but especially as we get older. I try to incorporate balance work into my everyday life- like I do the “Old man’s balance challenge” while putting on my shoes, and while I’m brushing my teeth and putting in contacts in the morning i alternate standing on one leg, then the other. I also try to seek out yoga classes with balance poses. But it’s still a challenge sometimes!

we also had some crazy 40 degree weather swings and a tornado this week. just crazy! My son is graduating this May I cannot believe it! (either can he apparently lol) Time does fly. I also agree that we can work on balance just like everything else. Congrats on Balega I do love their socks as well. Just bought a bunch at the expo

We sure do need some spring weather and it doesn’t look promising for the week ahead–well, I guess April showers counts as spring weather. ugh
Glad to hear Balega continued the ambassadorship! They do have nice socks. I’m looking forward to seeing you this week! I can’t wait to catch up.

Ozzy is just too cute 🙂
I feel you on the impending MAYhem – the list of upcoming school events is getting long! And, like you, I’m trying hard to just take it all in…the days do go by too fast.
Congrats on Balega! My fave socks and I do love that they are good citizens.

Love a balance challenge!
Balega socks are great. I didn’t know they had been sold. Congrats on the ambassadorship!

Balega is a great brand.
I love the projects that they support here in South Africa. Also, they look after their employees and have a very good reputation.
My sock drawer is full of Balega socks. Congrats on the ambassadorship!

My daughter is a junior in high school and also has so much coming up like prom and AP exams. It’s always a hectic time of year.

Congrats on Balega ambassadorship! I do love them and run 98% in their socks – and they have creeped into my weekend wear too because they are so comfy! I just realized it was only 4 more weeks until my daughter is back home from college too. For some reason I didn’t have the moving day on my calendar until now. That was fast! And my son just asked his girlfriend to prom. yay! April is a crazy month for me, and May it stacking up to be busy too.

Yay for Balega! I wore Balega socks for the first time when I did my ultra-trail! They were amazing!!!! And the only blister I had was from a small stone I didn’t remove when I should have. After the ultra, I treated myself to a few more pairs!
