It’s a brand new month and you know what that means. It’s time to sit down and catch up with Deborah, Coco and YOU over something brewed.
Even though technically it’s not winter, it sure feels like it here, so I’m going with my usual Starbucks Winter Blend, half & half and a scoop of collagen. You?
Over coffee I’d ask you if you do the daily Wordle. Thing 1 got me into it and Thing 2 does it as well so it’s something fun we share every day. Thing 1 then introduced me to Quordle. It’s basically 4 Wordles you do simultaneously. Then came Worldle.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you ever reported a doctor for bad care/insurance fraud. Remember that sketch endodontist I went to for that failed/infected old root canal? She essentially took an x-ray, looked at it, and told me to go elsewhere. Well she billed me over $700 to do that. One of the items on the bill is “occlusal adjustment” which means grinding the biting surface of a tooth to improve contact patterns. What on earth does that have to do with an infected tooth? And why should I pay over $200 for that procedure alone?? I went to her because she’s in my insurance network and the endodontists my dentist referred were not. I feel like I should report her somewhere…somehow. Wth? For the record the endodontist I ultimately went to to resolve this whole fiasco actually charged less than this quack who did nothing.
Okay about those pandemic projects. Over coffee I’d tell you that YouTube reminded me that it was the 2-year anniversary of my channel this week. I started the channel because I didn’t see women of a certain age represented appropriately in the health and fitness community. Designing workouts specifically for women in the 40+ age group is my little contribution The YouTube channel was a pandemic project and so was getting outside to walk daily with the Caveman. Most days we can bang out a couple of miles at sunrise and a couple later in the day. Of course there’ve been times our walks were kept to a bare minimum, but I’m proud to say we haven’t missed a day in over two years.
What would you tell me over coffee?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Congrats on your 2 year anniversaries! I do like your videos–I know that you are providing safe, effective classes. And it’s nice that you and the hubs are still getting in your daily walk. If only that would happen here.
You could report Dr Sketchy to the state board of dentistry. They outline guidelines for practice and it sounds like she’s not on the up and up. Dentistry is a cash business and they don’t have oversight like we do in medicine It’s not right.

We do miss an occasional day when the weather is just too awful. We don’t walk 4 miles though. It was a stretch for *someone* to walk roughly 3 yesterday (and by that I don’t mean Bandit). Sigh. I’m glad you guys are going strong!
Don’t even get me started on drs & insurance.
I never hopped on the Wordle train — but my husband did. And he does Worldle too. He often just assumes I’ll know something, and when I don’t he’s super surprised (and I’m ticked off).
Catrina says
That’s lovely that you and your husband are doing those daily walks. Nice to free the mind and to have some time together without any distractions. We run together but we hardly find the time to talk during these runs!
I have a group chat with my dad and my sister where have our daily Wordle battles. It’s quite funny! 😀

Well done on that fantastic 2-year walk streak! I’m hoping to revive my daily walking as the temps warm up (and now that Max can be left home alone again). I came very, very close to filing a malpractice suit against my family doctor’s partner. He’s the one who blew off the staph infection, which landed me in the hospital for a week following emergency surgery on my knee.
Coco says
Ugh on the endodontist — and on how hard it is to report bad health care providers. I always find medical bills shocking. I think my dentist charges $75 for that little dab of tooth paste they use during a cleaning ….
Congrats on your YouTube channel – and on keeping it up for 2 years. I know it’s a ton of work!
Michelle says
We’ve been bitten by the Wordle bug in our house – my boys are into it too so it’s been a fun thing to share.
I like Wendy’s suggestion of reporting that endodontist to the state board.
Congrats on your anniversaries! I keep trying to get my husband to join me for some consistent walking but he’s very hit or miss.
Darlene says
Congrats on your video anniversary.
Yes I love wordle. But I hate seeing everyone’s score.
Those walks are impressive esp at sunrise. All my time seems to taken up by running and working.
Deborah Brooks says
I also wrote about medical bills today. It is insane some of the charges that they try to pass along to us. Sadly, don’t think most people understand the charges and what to do with them. Yes, we are big wordle fans in our family and we post our daily achievements in our family chat. Wednesday, hubs and I had a different word than the kids which caused quite an uproar! Congrats on your 2 years of content on youtube!!

I did your lower body workout this week! I”ll be talking about it in the weekly rundown- and I’ll check out more of your videos.
So are you challenging that dental bill? That’s really frustrating. I hate how no one can ever tell you how much anything is going to cost ahead of time, or what insurance is/isn’t going to pay, so the bill is a big surprise. There’s something very wrong with that.
I didn’t do Wordle for a long time, and then found out both my kids have been doing it all along. What? So then I started, but I don’t do it everyday. It’s kind of fun to do it and then share the results in a group family text- even if I don’t talk or text with my son about anything else that day, it’s a way to touch base.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Congrats on the 2-year anniversary!! Nope to Wordle but I know many people are fans of it. Definitely report that dentist.
Donna says
I started doing Wordle most days but am not a fanatic about it like some people. If I miss a day, it’s ok.
That’s terrible about the dentist. The state board of dentistry or whatever they’re called should have some advice about what to do. My daughter has a chronic illness so I’m unfortunately well-acquainted with outlandish medical fees and sorting it all out with insurance. It’s all so time-consuming! Good luck with that!
Denise says
I agree that there is not enough representation for our age group.
Great job on the daily walks, I wish I could get my husband to walk with me but at least he is going to the gym now. Baby steps.
Shathiso says
Every time I walk I tell myself I should do it more. I always love the experience and if I’m with my husband and the kids even better! So well done on your two year streak and your two year YT birthday!
I hope you find a place to report the Quack. Something sounds really dodgy there.
Jessie says
I love wordle! I don’t do it every day though, sometimes I just forget. But still fun to text my two sisters that do it and connect that way.
Congrats on the 2 year walking streak! Very impressive.
That dentist sounds so awful. Hopefully you find a way to report him/her.
Farrah says
hehe, I still haven’t gotten into Wordle (I think I’m in the middle of way too many games and really have no business adding another. 😛 ).
I’m so sorry you had to deal with that endodontist. I unfortunately have no idea how to report but it might be good to start with the state board? (Best of luck!)
