It was spring break here this week. After taking Thing 1 to the airport Monday evening, the house was filled with the coming and going of Thing 2 and her friends. Here’s how the week in workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, 45 min. Bike Bootcamp + Core
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, 30 min. Matty treadmill run, lower body strength
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 2 miles, Treadmill Bootcamp
Friday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Saturday: Walk 2 miles, 3 mile run, core
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, heavy strength
After being teased with a few very nice spring-like days, more “seasonal” temps returned along with grey skies, high winds, lots of rain and yes, blowing snow. It is still March after all. Work was completely out of control this week, and it’s going to stay that way for awhile. There’s so much to do and I’m being pulled in many directions, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed. I’ll get there though. I will. Just breathe.
While we kept up with our sunrise and sunset walks, all of my runs this week were done on the treadmill. Sometimes due to weather and others due to time constraints. I runfess I did not mind one bit. My runs felt great and knock wood, the ornery hip flexor remains silent. I also spent my share of time relaxing in the sauna. It’s all about balance, right?

Lower Body Strength. Many runners ask me how to get faster. Two keys to getting faster are adding speedwork and strengthening your body. This quick sequence includes some of the most effective lower body exercises for runners.
How was your week? Any races? Has spring sprung? Or is winter hanging around?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

Sorry about the overwhelming work – I’m in a less overwhelming work phase at the moment and they do come back to us!
Spring has sprung here but we’re promised chilly temps next week again …

Looking ahead to mid-week, I think March is going to exit like a lion! This weather is ridiculous and I didn’t bring my winter running gear up to Wisco. I’m warming up with coffee as we speak. At least the sun is out. Sounds like a busy week for you! I hope things settle down. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say you felt overwhelmed. <3

Glad to hear the hip is feeling better! I had to succumb to the ‘mill yesterday, but after your reminder of Matty’s Donna Summer run, I decided to give that a go…and those 30 minutes went much faster than anticipated 😉 That may have been only my second (?) Pelo run. I need to keep those in mind when it’s Milly Time, LOL Sorry for the busy week, and crazy schedule…hoping things mellow out for you.

Good news on the hip.
Impressive that your never miss your walks.
In the teens tonight. No. Spring has been delayed.

glad to read your hip flexor is feeling better. I cannot believe how cold it is in Chicago this weekend I was not prepared!

I have been enjoying my treadmill time thanks to Inventing Anna! With the time change making it dark again, I foresee my early treadmill runs going on for a bit more. Sounds like a fun week with the kids being around. My daughter was home just for a day this past weekend and it seemed like longer. Always good to hear the chaos of kids.

I always think your workouts sound great, but then never remember to check them out later in the week-i just automatically go to Peloton our of habit. But this time I quickly watched your video, and this workout looks GREAT. It has everything I need and nothing I don’t (hello, plyometrics!). I’m doing it for sure this week- thanks for posting it!

Ah, the sauna sounds like a great place to escape March weather.
Glad your hip flexor is behaving! Mine is getting cranky and I need to get to the bottom of it.

Hugs on the overwhelming.
Need to bookmark this class. Signed, my IT Band

I briefly considered a race this weekend but I really wasn’t feeling up to pushing that hard. I thought I’d be on the mill today, but it was only 3 miles & it wasn’t too bad.

Being busy with work can be a good thing! Good luck with balancing all your plates!

Nothing wrong with the treadmill, especially if its feeling good! Beautiful photo over the water. Spring was here on Monday this week and winter was back by Wednesday 🙂

Good to hear your hip flexor is staying quiet. I’m sorry to hear things on the work front are chaotic. Like you said, just breathe…you got this!

Spring was on vacation this week. Yesterday we had all the seasons in one day – overcast skies in the morning, then some nice sunshine fore a few hours, then rain, light snow and hail for about 30 minutes, and back to sunny skies. It was crazy!
Jenn says
I can’t believe more snow!
I hope work settles down for you soon!

I’m seeing so many signs of spring in the European blogs, too. It’s really nice to see the daffodils come out.
Here in South Africa, we’re going the other way. Right now it’s foggy and all autumny… but I’m not complaining, it’s nice to have less heat.
Good news on your hip, Marcia!

Sorry to hear work is overwhelming. I’m having a similar feeling at the moment and have to remind myself to breathe and to take it a step at a time. I’m now looking to focus on getting faster so will save that strength video!
