Unlike last week, the final week of winter eased in with gentle breezes, sunshine and warm air. I swear it felt like a hug from the universe amidst a crazy, cruel world. Of course we had some cold, raw days with driving rain as well, but I’m going to focus on the warm air and sunshine. The longer daylight allowed us to resume our beloved after-dinner walks. Here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 2 miles
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, 30 min Bike, Upper Body Strength + Core
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, trail run 2 miles, Upper & Lower Body Strength
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Bootcamp + Strength
Saturday: Walk 2 miles, Treadmill Bootcamp + Core
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
I kept the running miles low this week because I’m still nursing that ornery hip flexor. By St. Patrick’s Day it felt pretty darn good on the trails though. It was 50 degrees by the time I got out to run, which is perfection, and it continued warming throughout the day. It won’t be long before we start seeing some green!
My big surprise walked in the door Thursday night. Thing 1 had planned to spend Spring Break in Hilton Head with her sorority sisters. What I didn’t know is that she had 5 days free to spend at home first! Woohoo!
Sushi from Starfish is always a good idea.
Our time together included our fair share of family time, shopping (thank heavens No Spend February is over!) eating out and fun!
Let’s Run Toward Spring Challenge. Yes we reached spring and we had lots of fun on our journey together! Thanks to all who joined me! It was so much fun moving and connecting with you over the past 5 weeks.
Next Up: I’m coaching ZOOMA’s Fitter Stronger Faster Challenge. This is the one where we work on all the elements that help you run stronger and faster. We’ll do stuff like speedwork, form drills and yes we’ll strengthen those running muscles. I’ll also share tips for an effective dynamic warmup, prehab and recovery. Registration opens soon!

Arms & Shoulders Sculpt. With spring in the air, many of us have thoughts of tank tops and exposed skin dancing in our heads. This quick sequence will work that upper body in the best ways!
Runfession Friday Linkup
I can’t even believe it’s time once again to open the runfessional. Seems like March is going even faster than February. Be sure to join me right here THIS Friday!
I’ll leave you with this sunrise pic from one of our walks. Can you see Ozzy in the lower right hand corner?
How was your week? Has spring sprung here you are? Any spring break plans? When’s the last time you were surprised?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

What a wonderful surprise! I bet you were really excited to see M! I know how precious this time with our adult children is. I sure miss mine–and one of them isn’t even that far away, lol.

Love that sunrise. It seems to be cloudy whenever I get out that early.
Nice surprise.
And those warmer temps. Too bad they aren’t staying yet.
Happy to hear your hip is better.

What a fab surprise to have your daughter home for a few days. We have to savor those days when we get them. The hip flexor thing is so annoying that was what first got me to try prolo therapy and it worked pretty quickly. Hope yours is feeling better soon. Enjoy your warmer temps while they last!

I was trying to figure out how Chicago was on the way from Georgia to Hilton Head. 🙂 It’s great that she wants to go home and spend time with you — and go shopping. Glad your hip is feeling better. That sunrise is stunning!
Marcia says
Yeah no. Chicago is totally not on her way. I’m very flattered she wanted to come home for a few days!

Yes, I’m glad to see (and feel) Spring “springing up” all around me 😉 You probably saw…but I had a nice daughter(s) surprise of my own last week. Gosh, as tough as it was to see them leaving their childhood behind, it sure is great to have these young ladies (and I have a young gent, too, LOL) in our lives. It’s such a treat spending time with them, especially when it’s THEIR choice 😉 Enjoy your mom/daughter time <3

That is the best surprise ever!!! Sounds like you had a fun time together. Glad your hip is feeling better- mine’s been bothering me all week. The only time it doesn’t seem to hurt is while I’m running (go figure.)
I love that sunrise pic. Enjoy your spring weather!

Oh wow, what a great surprise to have your daughter home! Sounds like a fun time (and yay on shopping!!). That’s an amazing sunrise picture. Captured all of the beautiful colors. Good thing your hip was feeling well enough to enjoy the warm up. It would be a shame to miss that!

What a great surprise for you! How nice. I can’t really remember the last time I was surprised (other than waking up with a fever out of the blue last nice).
I agree you can’t go wrong with sushi. 🙂
I had planned to keep the miles low this week too, but not quite as low as it turned out to be! Oh well.

Love how it looks like Ozzy is guiding you into the light. Yay on improving hip flexor and major yay on Thing1 surprise. What awesome bonus time
Thanks for having us in that fun challenge!

You all look so happy in the group pic – even Ozzy is smiling! 😀
After-dinner walks must be so peaceful. Does your husband join you? It sounds like the perfect way to unwind.

What a lovely surprise for you, I’m so pleased for you. I’ve had a difficult week so I’m pleased to see other people’s nice stuff and pretty sunrises!
Michelle says
Awww what a wonderful surprise! It’s so great that you all got some family time!
Good to hear your hip flexor is calming down – hopefully that’s a trend that continues.
Thanks again for hosting the spring challenge 🙂

How nice that your daughter surprised you!
What a beautiful sunrise. I usually run in the morning, but its still nice to have the daylight longer in the evenings. We headed out to dinner on Saturday around 7 and I still had to throw on sunglasses in the car! Felt strange 🙂
Jenn says
Hi Ozzy!
I’m so glad your daughter was able to spend some time with you! How wonderful!
We are just wrapping up from Spring Break. I stayed home with the dogs. The boys went to see Billy Joel in Orlando last weekend, and Mr PugRunner is in SC for March Madness this weekend. It was not the most fun for me but what can you do?
Kim G says
It was definitely a dramatic shift in the weather! I’m just glad that it seems like all the snow is done 🙂
i love that your daughter stopped by and you were able to spend some time with her – i would say Ozzy was super excited too!
Donna says
What a nice surprise! I’m sure it made your time together even sweeter!
It’s definitely spring here in central NC. All of the flowering trees are in bloom and I’m loving having more daylight hours in the evenings.
