Despite it being our shortest month, February took forever here. March IS just around the corner though! Before we welcome in the month of SPRING, let’s open the runfessional.

So let’s get to it. I told you here I was doing Ross Rayburn’s Restorative Yoga series over on Peloton. The workouts are long and dull but I love Ross for meditation and this stiff-as-a-board girl needed a total yoga reset, so I suffered through the boredom of the really long poses. I was plugging along, trying to stay focused but somewhere along the way…day 5 to be exact, I missed a day. When I made the effort to pick up where I left off, I fired up the app to find the Restorative Yoga Series was reset to ZERO. As in I have to start back at day ONE. For a sec I even thought maybe I was crazy but when I checked my history I even have a bronze badge for making it partially through the series. What the heck?? Let’s just say there will be no do-overs. So maybe Ross broke up with me first but any way you slice it, I runfess I am done.
I’ve mentioned it before that I’m in a constant state of declutter. There’s always a large bag in the process of being filled and taken for donation. It’s satisfying to make space and pass along stuff that someone else might use. I runfess however, that I’ve also devised a way to keep more stuff. I’ve been leaving shoes down in the pain cave, because it’s super convenient to slip them on there. One pair turned to two, and two quickly became 5. Then I started storing a few workout tops there…and sauna shorts….and suddenly I’ve got another wardrobe-storing spot.
I’ve been on the fence about the Peloton app, but so far I’ve kept it, because it is nice to fire up the app and follow a workout once in awhile…or everyday. I runfess however, that it is somewhat rare that I actually follow the instructor’s cues. Sometimes I cue up a walk when I’m going to run, just because it offers music that appeals to me. Is that wrong?
In the same vein, when I run I typically drink Nuun. I runfess I basically buy whatever’s on sale. Drink Nuun Rest during a run? Sure, why not?
After treating myself to #allthethings in December and January, I proclaimed February to be “no spend February”. I’ve done well with this except I runfess I do have some tanks from Skirt Sports sitting in my shopping cart….and ok a few things sitting in my cart on the Athleta website. Just a few more days, hopefully they’ll still be there when I’m ready for full-steam-ahead spending in March.
Ok your turn: What have you to runfess? What do you drink when you run?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

I runfess I have never heard of Ross Rayburn but I would have left him too if he made me start over again. i do need to get some yoga back in my life!
I still drink Tailwind–I can’t stray! And i too have things in my Athleta shopping cart…

Well, I have not yet hung with Ross, so I may have to continue on that path. I’m just about through week-3 of Crush Your Core-2, and I’m close to bailing. I don’t find the workouts to be especially “crushing,” and all of her “whews” are really getting under my skin (I highly doubt these workouts are very challenging for her either, LOL). I love your idea of leaving a few spare shoes in your pain cave! I might have to plagiarize that idea!

I’m not sure I Runfess :), but I’ve been doing some YouTube yoga: 30 Days with Adriene. It’s free and I do it when I want. I finished the 30 days and doing her 30 day MOVE series. She’s a little zen for me, but they’re about 30 minutes and my abs were sore one day so I think it’s doing something (Plus I’m sure outta shape).
Put Amelia Island race in your shopping cart on March 1st!! 🙂

If I had more space, I’d start inventing new closets all the time… I am pretty sure that decluttering goes against human nature, that’s why we all struggle with it. That somee card nails it.
I find one of the best antidotes to stop shopping for new stuff is not browsing… that way, I’m not tempted. 😀
Michelle says
That would be a big no for me on the yoga series reset! Maybe I’ll just stick with Ross for those sleep meditations.
I can’t even tell you how many things I have in both the Brooks and Athleta carts – I may need an athleisure wear intervention LOL.

The Peloton programs didn’t use to be that way, and I don’t know why they are. It makes them useless for anyone who can’t schedule their life around Peloton. When I want to follow a program I use the links on Pelobuddy.com and do the classes in my own damn time. I don’t get a badge but I do get my workout.
LOL on the Nuun. I bought a case last year and am still working my way through it!

I did relatively well with spending in January but hey it’s my birthday & I had a little birthday $$ to spend.
I haven’t done too many Peloton courses but never had that happen. I definitely heavily modify the workouts but I do like it — especially for the cycle & treadmill workouts.
Oh no on making new space for clothes!
Jenny says
Ha, funny that we both talked about our electrolyte replacements in this runfession (mine is LMNT.)
Well, I would have broken up with Ross as well. First of all I was laughing at the way you described the class- long, dull and boring. i have done a couple restorative yoga classes with Denis so I get what you’re saying. I think you’d be better off (if you want to do it on Peloton) taking some of the stretch classes.
I can’t wait to hear all about your shopping spree in March! : )
Deborah Brooks says
hmm that is weird! The core program I just did was not set up that way. I did hear that there were some app issues last week so maybe a glitch. I broke up w Ross on day 2 ha. I really wanted to do that program but the classes are too long for me with everything else! I think a lot of us were turned off by that oh well
Darlene S Cardillo says
Never hung out with Ross. Not fan of long slow workouts so I am not going to look into him.
I Quit Peleton as you know. It keeps calling me back… so far I’ve resisted.
Oh those clothes… the bad news if that once the kids move away, I took over their dressers and closets..
Erica @ Erica Finds says
I runfess that I love that you use the app and go your own way. I always follow the cues on apps. I’m such a sheep. Baaah.
I’ve been trying to get rid of clothes and shoes but… they keep on coming!
Elle says
I always buy whatever nuun is on sale too. I have yet to jump on the Peleton trian.
Shathiso says
I love Wendy’s comment and I want to echo the same – I runfess I’ve never heard of Ross Rayburn but I too would have left him! I runfess I’ve never tried Nuun – not even sure it’s available here! I’ll look out for it.
Katie says
I do the same with the shoes… I brought my Thanksgiving-themed Brooks down to the pain cave because they are out of season and it would be “incorrect” to wear them outside right now. The shamrock St. Patrick’s-themed Brooks are upstairs now for outdoor runs, because ’tis the season. Hey, it’s easier to workout when the clothes are in place, amirite?? 🙂
Zenaida Arroyo says
I rarely follow the cues on the running classes. I run outside so there are no inclines, etc. I do it mostly for the music and to hear Matty. I miss him! That is so weird about the yoga series. That would definitely turn me off too.
Denise says
I am in need of purging some workout clothes…out with the old, in with the new, 😉
I just got a pair of running tights from Athleta but they were tiny so I have to send them back. I currently have new ones in my cart but I’m trying to be content with what I have. Ugh!
Jenn says
I think it wasn’t you, it was Ross. And that’s ok.
I love decluttering. Right now, it’s hard, because so many people and creatures need me and I can’t focus, but the boys are going out of town, so….
I like Nuun, although I don’t have any of the Rest flavors.
