Travel
We went to Marietta Georgia last weekend for a holiday party. The pics from said party are not on my phone, so nothing to share. My bad. Of course the highlight of the weekend was being able to visit Thing 1 on campus in Atlanta.
Did you see the The Internship? It was filmed on the Georgia Tech campus, pretending to be Google headquarters where Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were interns. When we first toured the campus, I knew I’d seen this place before. Sure enough, it was from watching the movie!
I finally had a chance to run in Piedmont Park, where the famous Peachtree Roadrace ends. While not as large as NYC’s Central Park, it looks eerily similar.
The fall colors are still vibrant in Atlanta and we enjoyed temps in the 70s. So much nicer than the weather whiplash we have at home.
Holiday Concert
Thing 2 had her third concert of the semester. I am SO happy to be able to enjoy these events in person! This holiday concert was so beautiful and she’ll be helping out the orchestra in their concert next week.
New Conqueror Challenge
Since I finished the Amalfi Coast Challenge a couple of weeks ago, I needed something to work on as we rush toward year end. When my friends at The Conqueror invited me to complete the Angkor Wat Challenge, I was all over it. Angkor Wat is a Buddhist temple in Northern Cambodia. I’d love to see it IRL someday but for now, virtual it is. Since this trek is “only” 20 miles, I’ll be finished hopefully soon! E-gift cards are available for all Conqueror challenges! Check them out here.
Peloton App Shenanigans
This week I passed the 1000 minutes of workouts milestone and I’ve got just about a 6-week streak going. That was pretty easy to do and I runfess I do not use the app for my runs or walks. However, since the Caveman was away this week, I did my walks solo (well with Ozzy) so I tried the 30 minute Classical Walk with Becs Gentry for kicks. One does not play the violin for 12 years and not develop an affinity for classical music and I have to say her music choices on this walk were fantastic.
New On YouTube
Low-Impact HIIT Workout. When time is limited I love to HIIT it as it’s the most efficient way to get my heart rate up and some strength training as well. Grab your hand weights and join me for this one! I hit a special milestone this week: 500 subscribers! I’m so grateful to all of you who have supported me with this crazy project!
The Week Ahead
It’s finals week for both of my kids. While the high school is filled with therapy dogs, Georgia Tech has the whole farm on campus, haha!
Who doesn’t love a shaggy therapy cow?
I’m pretty sure this is Thing 1’s spirit animal.
I’ve seen therapy dogs at my doctor’s office but we sure never had animals at school back in the stone age.
Oh and one last thing: It’s birthday week for yours truly. While I don’t love getting older, I am grateful for good health, family, friends like YOU who understand my special kind of crazy and all the abundance in life. Age is a state of mind right?
How was your week? Have you ever enjoyed therapy animals? Any travel coming up? Ever been to Cambodia?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

Happy birthday. Age is indeed a state of mind.
Very cool to run in that park. I’d love to run that race some day.
Congrats to your daughter on a live concert.
Our mask mandate is bad. Sigh. Still we have live events. I guess masks are small stuff.
No trip until Florida in Feb. and a nyc race in January

Looks like a busy but fun couple of weeks for you! Are you doing anything special for your birthday? Have fun no matter what you do!
Deborah Brooks says
I am also doing the Angor Wat challenge this week while traveling. They are fun to get postcards from where you run. I have the Peachtree run on my bucket list and I hear it’s great. Looks like a fun but busy 2 weeks for you all

So that’s where Thing 2 got her musical talent from! How nice. I’m sure you two must have some interesting discussions about classical music.
The only place I’ve heard of therapy animals in Switzerland is in an assisted living facility. It was a very popular dog!
I’ve never been to Cambodia. Enjoy the challenge!

I did see your birthday was coming! I hope you have a great day of celebration:-) No immediate travel for me, but stay tuned…there’s a big adventure on the horizon in a couple weeks. I’m tempted to try a Peloton walk with Milly …to see if she really has been reincarnated.

Happy birthday!!!
Congrats to your daughter for the concert.
I am glad that “Thing 1” loves the animals: this is very important. Every day I tell my grandsons that they have to love and respect the animals.
No trips in the near future and never been to Cambodia.
Jenny says
Ooh! Happy Birthday! Yeah, i don’t like getting older either but it’s still a special day. I hope you do something fun to celebrate- it’s hard with all the holiday chaos going on (I know, because both my kids have December birthdays.)
Wow, those therapy animals!!! I’m pretty sure neither of my kids has therapy animals at their schools- but I should ask them. I can just picture them being like “Oh yes, you didn’t know about the goats?”
Those pictures from Georgia are so beautiful. It’s funny to see fall colors when most places have transitioned to winter. Thing 1 must be coming home soon- I’m sure you’re looking forward to that!

Happy birthday! No travel coming up (I went to a bookshop and garden centre about 3 miles from home today and it felt so exotic!) – I had wanted to go to Spain for my birthday next month but it just seems too risky with the Covid figures here. So I’m just taking a week off work instead. Love the campus animals – super!

I love that Georgia Tech has a farm full of therapy animals! I would have loved something like that to take the edge off during finals week.
Congrats on hitting 1,000 minutes of activity on the Peloton app! Becs has a few different classical walks and runs if you want to try out more of her classes.
Happy early birthday!
Jessie says
Therapy cows! I love it.
We had a long layover on our way to Antarctica, so we got day passes to the Exhale spa to use their showers, and went for a run through Piedmont Park! It was a nice memory. How cool that the fall colors are still so vibrant and you could enjoy some warm temps! Looks like a great visit!

Even though 2022 will be a big birthday for me, it doesn’t bother me. My nephew got miffed about turning 30. It truly is all in your mind!
Piedmont Park looks so lovely! Especially considering the grayness here — most days, today was actually quite sunny. Sounds like a good visit!

Oh I love the idea of therapy animals for the students – exams can be so stressful! And, how wonderful that your daughter continues to have live concerts.
Wishing you a wonderful birthday!!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Happy birthday! And yes, age is just a number, it does not define you; otherwise, I’d be up the creek. LOL
It sounds like your daughters are doing well and enjoying somewhat normal school. There was definitely no such thing as therapy animals when I was in school, either.
Donna says
What a great idea to have therapy dogs for kids during finals week! My daughter would love that! I’ve seen therapy dogs at some airports but that’s it. I ran the Peachtree Road Race this past July and absolutely loved it. It’s one of my favorite races ever.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Jenn says
Happy birthday week!
I am all in for a therapy cow! My amazing next door neighbor is an equine therapist, and I am the one who gets to prep her therapy mini before he goes to the children’s hospital once a week. It’s pretty fabulous.
I’m so glad you had a nice week in Georgia. I ran Peachtree, but the park was so crowded that I couldn’t really appreciate it as an actual park!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Happy birthday! I hope you are having a great week. That’s so fun that you got to have a campus hangout. I did see that movie and I’d be geeked out to see the campus! We have a ski trip coming up very soon. I guess I should starting getting into serious planning mode soon. haha!
