It’s that time of year once again when many of us seek out the perfect gifts for family and friends. What do you get your running and fitness-loving friends? I’ve got a few ideas to get you started. This post contains affiliate links.
Lumen Metabolism Tracker. Ever wonder about your metabolism or know someone who does? I’ve been experimenting with the Lumen Metabolism Tracker for several weeks now and it gets more fascinating by the day. I’ve learned when and how to fuel my workouts, when I’m burning fat, and I’ve lost a few pounds in the process….even with all the Thanksgiving pie in the house. Check out my full review here. Try Lumen yourself or gift one to a friend and use code MARCIA10 to save an additional 10%.
Fré Skincare. This skincare line was specially formulated to keep sweaty, post-workout skin fresh and clean without drying it out. Every single product I’ve tried is amazing, but Purify Me cleanser, Revive Me replenishing serum and Detox Me post-sweat clearing mask are my absolute must-haves. All Fré Skincare is vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free and fragrance-free. Perfect for all skin types.
Goodies from Now
BCAA Blast. I don’t do a strength workout without it. I use BCAA’s before and during my workout to maximize performance and endurance. Each serving gives you 5g of branched-chain amino acids to support muscle growth and recovery.
Magnesium Bath Flakes. This product is so SO soothing for tired, sore muscles after a long run or tough workout.
Magnesium Topical Spray. If you’re not a fan of the bath, massage Now’s Magnesium Spray directly onto sore muscles.
Books
Rise & Run. This is Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky’s latest and in my opinion BEST cookbook. I’ve made a handful of things and they’ve all been winners. The recipes are mostly focused on foods to help you fuel and recover from a workout. Shalane also shares a marathon training plan and shares glimpses into her life at home.
Finish Line Feeling. This memoir from Liz Ferro is an inspiring story about the author’s journey from foster child and sexual abuse survivor to founder of the nationally recognized organization, Girls with Sole. Liz writes about how running, biking and swimming pulled her through the toughest times, and reminded her of the strength and resilience that lives inside all of us.
Safety Equipment. For a mostly solo runner like me, it’s imperative to take safety very seriously on the roads and on the trails. Since it’s so dark in the morning, I’ve been using the Sabre PepperLight 2-in1 Flashlight + Pepper Spray. This is also great for those of us who are out there in the dark of night walking the dog as well.
When I’m out running in daylight, I use Sabre Pepper Gel with Adjustable Hand Strap. The gel is easier to direct toward a specific target.
Subscription Seafood. This is the perfect gift for the runner (or anyone) who has everything. I’ve sung the praises of Sitka Salmon Shares before and they’re so worth mentioning again. Sustainable seafood is caught by small-boat fisherman in Sitka Alaska, then immediately blast frozen before being delivered to your door. It is by far the freshest and most delicious seafood I’ve ever cooked at home. Monthly subscriptions are available or you can purchase a single box.
Holiday seafood boxes are available! Check them out here. Order by 12/8 for arrival by Christmas Eve. Order by 12/22 for arrival by New Year’s Eve.

Fish Tacos
Balega Socks. These are my all-time favorites. Once I discovered Balega, I’ve never turned back. Whether you like thin or highly cushioned socks, or a higher rise for trail running, Balega has it. My go-to socks are the Ultralight no-show, Blister Resist and Hidden Comfort.
What is on your holiday wish list this year? What will you be gifting?
Wendy says
Nice list of goodies, Marcia! We have a new doctor in our office and her husband works for Sitka! I’m hoping they pass along some goodies to me…lol
Marcia says
Oh that’s so interesting! Their fish is SO good!
Kimberly Hatting says
Lots of great options here 😉 I think it was last year (Black Friday?) when I got my first intro to Fre. I need to branch out, though, and try a few more of their products.

Great suggestions! I have to tell you that after reading your review I purchased a Lumen. I just started playing with it this week – can’t wait to see what I learn!
Catrina says
So many good ideas, Marcia!
I love using BCAAs as well and I like the Now brand. So I’m off to order that right now!
Our neighbour used to travel to Alaska to fish the salmon and then bring them home (frozen of course). It was delicious! Your brand sounds just like that high-quality type of salmon. Enjoy!

Rise and Run is already on my list but I may add Finish Line Feelings. And of course Fre’ has its own list.
Donna Stefanick says
Nice list! I like how you included some things people might not ordinarily think of but would be great gifts for active people. I really like Now pea protein powder and am almost out so thanks for the discount code!
Marcia says
Donna YES! I love Now’s Pea Protein as well. So good!
Deborah Brooks says
Very practical list! I am loving the info I get from my Lumen and find it really interesting. Also love ordering my seafood from Alaska so I always have it around.
Black Knight says
Many good ideas for gifts. Only a little problem .. even if it looks delicious I don’t eat seafood.
Marcia says
Stefano I was not a seafood fan either! This stuff is life changing! Haha!
Jenny says
No seafood for me either, but I think this is a great list! i LOVE gift guides! I always get my husband running socks for Christmas (not quite sure where they disappear to during the year) and I’m probably the only person in the world who hasn’t tried Balega. Maybe this will be the year!

The Lumen sounded really interesting to me after reading your review, but it was a bit too much. I’d rather pay up front and not have to pay every month, even though it seems that that’s the way things are going these days.
You can never go wrong with fish & Balega. 🙂
Jessie says
Fantastic list! I love Balegas and hope for some in my stocking 🙂
Kim G says
the metabolism tracker tracker sounds really cool – I will have to check that out!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great gift ideas! I love Balega socks too. I want that cookbook too.
