Seems like I left for Oregon in summer and came back to fall. In the few days I was gone, my annuals seem to have given up and bolted for the season. Is it too early for mums and asters though? In other news here’s how my first week post-Hood-to-Coast went. Rest and recovery was the name of the game.
Monday: Walk 1 mile, otherwise rest
Tuesday: Walk 2 Miles, otherwise rest
Wednesday: Walk 2 miles, Upper body strength
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, 20 mins easy bike, Stretch, foam roll, sauna
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Stretch, foam roll, sauna
Saturday: Walk 4 miles bike intervals, Yoga + Core + Mobility, sauna
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Strength, foam roll, sauna
The Columbia River Gorge. The scenery in Oregon is breathtaking. Stay tuned for the full recap.
Yeah so HTC was hard on the ole bod. Don’t feel sorry for me, I totally expected it and knew very well what I was getting into. Early in the week my legs hurt too much to even foam roll and our walks were slow and short.
The infrared sauna I got the Caveman for Father’s Day came in very handy. I’m loving it!
Despite getting more sleep during the relay than expected, sleep was the main event this week. Clearly it was what my body needed and it felt oh so good. As the week progressed, I felt much better. Still though, I’ve got some healing to do and I’m in no rush to run.
The Week Ahead
I’ll continue with the recovery process, breathe and enjoy the beautifully cooler weather. I’ve also got GOBS of work to do, so there’s that. It’s all good though and actually quite exciting.
Later this week we’re headed to Atlanta to see our favorite college girl and of course take in a football game. I cannot freaking wait! I love getting fun Snap Chats like these from her.
I’ll leave you with this pic of the sunrise. Cooler nights are creating these magnificent ribbons of fog. I’m always a little sad when another summer slips away, but fall is pretty darn amazing too.
How was your week? Any travel planned? Excited for fall?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

I don’t think it’s too early for mums–I just put some large pots out in front! My summer annuals gave up, so it was time. I give you props for doing HTC–there’s no way this old body could do an all-nighter like that. Not to mention those climbs. Have so much fun in Georgia!

nice to see you taking a proper recovery! I am all for that. Enjoy your parent’s weekend in Atlanta! I still have a few more weeks until I see my son. I am a fan of the infrared sauna as well. Can’t hurt!

I agree, Fall is quite a beautiful season…but UGH. I just wish it was a little bit warmer and brighter LOL …and we all know what comes next. Glad the HTC recovery is going well…well worth all the fun, right?

Yes, it’s always a little sad to see Summer go, but I am totally digging the Fall weather.
We had talked about maybe going somewhere for the hubs’ upcoming birthday, but with the rise in COVID we nixed that idea.

Glad your dedication to recovery is paying off! Enjoy your visit to see Thing 1. Does Thing 2 come along, or does she have her own things to do at home?
Fall is my favorite season.

I’m looking forward to the HTC recap! Glad you’re getting in some good recovery this week. Enjoy your time in Atlanta- I’m envious. We won’t see my son till Thanksgiving! He’s just too far away.
Your photos are gorgeous! Love that sunrise.

Rest and recovery are a wise solution. You have learned the lesson that I don’t succeed in learning: listen to your body!
Have fun with your daughter.
I am glad that summer is leaving. I love fall.
Great photos!

Fall is hands-down my favorite season. Feel you on the morning fog.
Glad re-entry was what you expected and not more sore. What a great git the sauna was. Safe travels to Atlanta!

I’m sorry HTC was so hard on you, but a little rest is always good.
I love that you got to go on such an epic racecation.
We have some travel planned. A has a lot of camping trips to attend, and we will also be going away for our 15th anniversary. Yay!
