It was another week of hot, full-on summer weather here. So why would I want to freeze time? Because I love this time of year when the entire summer is at our feet and the possibilities, and glorious daylight, seem endless. Before I get into it, here’s how my workouts shook out.
Monday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 5 miles
Wednesday: Walk 2 miles, Bike Intervals, Upper Body Strength
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 3 miles, Barre Workout
Friday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Trail run 4 miles
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
The trails are lush and green, despite being in a severe drought here. The shade is much needed and very welcome. My Garmin has not been thrilled by my runs in the heat this week, but that’s ok. When it’s hot and humid I don’t feel one ounce of shame for slowing down and walking when I need to.

I remain in love with my new trail shoes. The New Balance More Trail are treating me to an oh-so-smooth and comfy ride, even up hills and on rugged terrain. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t in love with the colors too.
I’m up to my eyeballs in work but I checked off some big projects this week and that sense of accomplishment feels great.
The lilies are blooming…
…not to be outdone by the peonies. The aroma is amazing.
This pretty lady was spectating one of my runs this week.
Watching
We made it to Season 4 of The Crown, when Diana Spencer comes on the scene. I’m wondering how true the telling of this story actually is.

Barre Strength & Sculpt. I’m changing it up this week! It’s been a minute since I’ve done a Barre Workout so why not? Change does a body good! This one is low-impact and requires no equipment so give it a try!
I’ll leave you with this “golden hour” sunset pic from our deck, overlooking the water.
How was your week? Are you savoring all the daylight? Struggling in the heat? Fave summer bloom?

Beautiful photos this week. Everything is so green and lush right now. Just makes running more challenging with the humidity. This is my 4th favorite season but I am determined to make the most of it this year. Have a great week

I’m glad you are enjoying the heat. I would prefer it to be a little cooler, but it’s summer. I was surprised to see how green the trails were since it’s so dry!
Your deer looks a little friendlier than the one I saw this morning!

Running in the heat is really hard for me, but other than that I absolutely adore summer and don’t want it to end.
Props on making it to season 4! While I did find The Crown to be tedious and boring, I loved the actors and revisiting the story.

Yes! Stop the clock right here! It’s such a special time- things are opening up again after Covid, we have the Olympics coming up (diving and swimming trials are on tonight!) and for me, it’s the last two months before my son starts college. Everything is perfect.
LOVE that photo from your deck! It’s stunning.

Our weather was all over the place but the week ended with a welcome cool front — even more welcome because our 28-year old A/C is on the fritz ….
Love the lilies and the peonies! I’m loving our neighbors hydrangeas — I don’t think they are very fragrant, but they are pretty.

Both savoring the daylight & struggling in the heat, LOL, although thankfully ours didn’t hang around TOO long. We’ve had plenty of rain. More on the way for tomorrow — but we’ve had nice weather, too, so it’s not a washout so to speak.

Awesome week!. I need to check our those trail shoes. I wear Salomons and while I love them, for long runs I need a bit more cushioning. Thanks for the link! How are they with support and stability?

What an amazing photo from your deck! Spectacular. I love your mindset about this time of year, so true! The whole summer of possibilities and memory-making and sunshine…Wonderful 🙂

I have to go back to work in July so I am savoring these last few weeks. I love the extra day light for evening activities.
I loves peonies!!

I’m totally with you on “freezing” the season right now. Our #5at5 runs are in total daylight, and the sunsets are coming later. I always feel a sense of loss, on the Summer Solstice, knowing the days will (gradually) start dwindling…

It’s going to be our first real hot week this week. I do love all the flowers and longer days. Love that view from your deck!

I love the colors of your trail sneakers and glad that you are loving them! Love the photos of those flowers – so colorful!
It’s always nice to check off items on your to-do list, especially when they are larger projects.

loving the flowers and the deer <3 and I know what you mean – it's like the sweet spot of summer! I'm personally in love with all the hydrangea in my neighborhood and am planning on ripping out the ugly hedge in my tiny front garden and replacing that with these gorgeous flowers. Well, I'll have to wait a bit, but that's my plan anyway.

I do so love the extra daylight, but I’m doing my best not to curse the humidity.
Your flowers are beautiful – I’m especially a fan of peonies!
Glad the new trail shoes are working for you – great color!

Minus the heat, but I’m so with you on the long daylight. True endless summer vibes.

Glad you are enjoying the heat and the daylight. I prefer the local winter (not too cold) when I can run at 09.00 a.m. and I don’t suffer the hot weather. And after the workout a relaxing thermal bath.
Great photo of the pretty lady!

I do like Summer but not the heat nor the humidity. Last week was awful and this week is much better. My runs have been more pleasant in the morning. I like Summer because I am on break and the days are longer.

I just started watching The Crown. I have to get to season 4 to see Diana? That’s a long time! Pretty pictures this week 🙂
