We are just back from college moveout in Atlanta and I’d be lying if I said I was not wiped out. My actual workouts were sparse, although the travel and moving-related schlepping more than made up for it:
Monday: Walk 2 miles, Strength Training
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Bike Intervals, Lower Body Strength/Hip Mobility
Thursday: Travel day
Friday: College Moveout day
Saturday: Travel day
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, TBD
My one trail run this week felt great. I wasn’t in the best of moods when I headed out, but a few miles of fresh air does a body and spirit good.
Apartment-mates and sorority sisters. The fourth girl had already moved out and is visiting South Africa.
We flew to Atlanta and helped Thing 1 move out of her apartment and store her stuff until she returns in August. I can’t believe she’s finished two years of college already. It really flies. There were graduation ceremonies happening: Masters and PhDs on Friday and undergraduates on Saturday, and the air all over campus was electric. It was so fun to see all the graduates and their proud families. The next two years are going to fly, just saying.
Thing 1 gave us a foodie tour of Atlanta and it did not disappoint.
Sushi from Makimoto at Krog St. Market was a highlight
So were the donuts from Sublime Donuts
This creation from The Yard Milkshake Bar was a show stopper.
There was also Neopolitan pizza from Antico, tacos from Bartaco, and more, which I failed to take pics of, but noteworthy all the same. It was quite the culinary adventure.
Mother’s Day. I’m going to see my mom and my two sisters today. I hadn’t seen them since my dad’s funeral back in October. I’m not quite sure how the gathering will go, since the kids have not yet been vaccinated.

Glad the move out went well! I remember those being SO tiring. I’m sure it will be nice to have her home for the summer. Have a happy Mother’s Day!

Those move in and move out weekends were always so exhausting! This is the first year that I don’t have to do it bc my son is living in the same apartment next fall. Time does fly we will be going to graduation next year! Enjoy your mother’s day!

Happy Mother’s Day!!! You deserve some pampering after your week. I echo what Deborah said–I don’t have to do moving with Matthew anymore–they do it themselves. He won’t be home today–he has to work. But we’ll see Tom and my FIL. Another low-key gathering. Enjoy your family!

Happy Mother’s Day! Those donuts look delish. That milk shake has carb come written all over it. 😉 I’m sure all that schlepping burned it off.

OMG, those donuts (and all the food, actually). YUM! I keep having the FB memories pop up…one of which was out oldest’s graduation–from college–FIVE years ago. Not sure how that happened LOL So, yes, a huge head nod, it goes much too fast. Happy Mother’s Day 😉

Glad the move went well. I do love Atlanta, need to go back some time.

I have only been to Atlanta twice, once on the way to Antarctica and once for the marathon last March, but GREAT eating. Krog St Market has so many options.
Great job with the move!
Jenny says
Oh yes, moving is hard! Sounds like the culinary tour made up for it. I think we need more than a mere picture of that milkshake- maybe a video next time?
Hope you’re enjoying your Mother’s Day!

Hope you have a nice time with your sisters.
Oh wow on the donuts.
Your walking streak is very impressive.

Yum! I want to go to Atlanta just for the food. Happy Mother’s Day!

Love all the photos from your foodie tour in Atlanta. I’ve heard that there are some amazing restaurants down there.
I always consider moving to be a great way to get in cardio and strength training 🙂 It’s for sure a workout!

Hope you enjoyed your time with your family! We were all masked, although of course everyone took off their masks to eat. I am glad we chose to eat on the way, frankly, my BIL is (and will remain) unvaccinated.
All that food looks amazing! Even if I weren’t dying from hunger right now. 🤣
Enjoy your summer with your girls!

Moving out is always an adventure and definitely a workout! Your foodie tour all looks so good!
I hope you had a great day with your family!

I can attest to anything related to moving is a workout ! I can’t believe she’s done two years already either! that’s nuts!
All that yummy looking food…. I’m getting hungry!!
Hope you had a lovely mother’s day!

Two years already? Wow! All of that food!! Yum! Now I wished I had explored when when I was in Atlanta. I am truly jealous of parents helping their children move out of campus dorms/apartments. I don’t think any of my siblings did. 🙂

Looks like we both had some amazing milkshakes this past week! I bet it’s exciting to have your daughter back home again. Glad the move went well. There’s a lot of school excitement going on here too. Awards, high school graduation, and all of the end of the year events. It’s so nice to see things looking somewhat normal again!
