Over coffee I’d tell you it’s pretty amazing to be snowbirding….finally. We ended up getting here a couple of days late, but what can you do. Let’s sit down with Deborah and Coco and catch up over coffee. I actually brought some Bulletproof coffee down with us, so I’ll enjoy that poolside while we chat, if you don’t mind. Soaking up some Vitamin D from the sun is of utmost priority.
Over coffee I’d tell you the Caveman’s recent hospital stay gave me pause. I have a couple of friends who lost their husbands suddenly. I runfess that scenario definitely flashed through my mind. Life is precious and fleeting. Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one.
Ozzy earned his wings
Over coffee I’d tell you I was REALLY nervous about having Ozzy fly with us. While he was anxious in the airport, he did great on the flight. Thank heavens for kind flight attendants, who let him sit in my lap the entire time. The plane was blissfully uncrowded and he did not make a peep.
Over coffee I’d tell you I’m so looking forward to having Thing 1 join us here soon. She’s a TA again this semester and has been immersed in interviews for paid internships. Back in my day there was no such thing as being paid for a college internship. I was more than happy to work a gig in the CBS newsroom for free. Ugh. She’s already declined one sweet offer because she’s in the final round for three other, sweeter opportunities. Dang, I’m proud of her.
What would you tell me over coffee? Did you have a college internship? Where would you go to escape winter?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Enjoy your break from winter! We try to do a long weekend away in winter, either to Puerto Rico or Cancun and it’s always amazing. My husband and I both have a family history of people living into their 90s, so I’m definitely counting on us to have many, many years together…it is really scary to think that something could happen.

Enjoy your time in Florida! Looks like you left just in time to miss the deep freeze. I’m sad we won’t have our annual Florida trip. What a year! Also glad to hear everything with your hubs is better.

Good news about your hubby and also your daughter.
Enjoy your vacation in Florida. I’m heading there next Thursday. Can’t wait!!!

As a Floridian I somehow feel personally responsible for our weather and I’m sorry it’s been so chilly! It’s going to be warmer from now on.
I have a co-worker whose husband just died of Covid. Yes… we have to appreciate what we have, while we have it!
Hope you enjoy your vacation!

So glad your husband is feeling better! It is really scary to have all of that flash before your eyes. I am so glad that you made it to your vacation. Enjoy your time down there and soak in some sun
Coco says
I’m so glad you made it to Florida. And Ozzy too!! I bet Caveman’s heart issues were terrifying — so glad he’s better now. Congrats to your daughter — that is fantastic.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Wow! I didn’t know you took Ozzy. Obviously I’ve flown with animals — four of them, in fact. The dogs were definitely a lot easier.
You were very lucky with your flight attendant. We were lucky with the cats, no one complained about the constant howling (just one of them) and they let me keep the carrier on my lap.
The flight with the dogs? I had Chester on my lap, IN his carrier — he never made a peep. Then the attendant came by and made me put him under the seat in front of me. He still made no noise, but seriously, he was contained and bothering no one!

So happy that your husband is feeling better. You must have been so proud of Ozzy for behaving on the flight! I’m sure he is currently enjoying the warmer weather too 🙂
Michelle D. says
So glad your husband is feeling well enough that you could take your trip! I’m sure some time in the sun will do everyone a world of good! And how awesome that Ozzy was able to fly with you 🙂
A big congrats to your daughter – it sounds like she’s got some great options ahead!

I am so sorry to read about your hubby’s hospitalization. I am glad you could make your trip. Just a teensy bit jealous about being poolside, but I am very happy for you. Look at Ozzy on the plane! It’s great that you could take him with you. We don’t have a dog anymore, but that was always the one downside of traveling – having to find care for the dog. Taking him along is so much better. Good for your daughter! You have good reason to be a proud Mama!

What a great time to be in Florida! Enjoy your trip and your time with your family!
Catrina says
Ah, finally sun, Marcia! So happy for you. I hope you get to get your full share of vitamin D.
I was just looking at my photos from our stay in Naples, Florida. I would love to be there now and enjoy the sunsets, sipping a glass of wine. Enjoy it!
How long will you be staying there for?
Kimberly Hatting says
The hubs and I are escaping to Florida in March for a long weekend, but we won’t be missing the frigid freeze by then. Max won’t be joining us either LOL That’s so exciting about your daughter and all those internship opportunities. Our oldest had a lot of internships to peruse, as well. Her first job offer was with the company she’d interned with for two summers. Good luck to your daughter!!!

I can’t tell you how relieved I was to hear that Greg was ok. I sometimes have fleeting moments of worry that something could happen to Ron, but nothing physical really triggers that so I try to nip it in the bud. But we are not getting younger and I think when my best friends husband died in March (he was 52) that really set something off in me. Life is precious. We have no guarantees.
I was just looking at the weather in Palermo on the app this morning … so that must tell you where I’d go. But we really cannot travel. I think you are super brave to travel right now and to Florida of all places. But I know you will be safe and that’s what matters. We all need a break sometimes.
I did not go to college after high school, so no scholarship. I waited until later and then went to Portland Community College where my company paid for my International Business studies. I never knew what I wanted to do and I hated school (and had a terrible few last years in high school personally) so I just had to get the hell out of dodge and figure it out on my own. Anyway, that company that paid for my education also sent me here to NL. So not the worst thing that ever happened to me 😉

Enjoy your time in Florida. I love Snow Birds (the So Cal version), they are the ones who pay my bills! I’m happy to hear your husband is doing well. It is scary when things happen like that without warning.
Erica @ Erica Finds says
So glad that Greg is OK and that you were able to get away. Lucky timing! Soak up some sun for me!
I did 3 internships in college for $0 and a paid one in grad school. Barely paid. Lol.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Thank goodness your husband is OK. Enjoy your time in Florida. How long will you be there? I don’t think I ever got an internship in college. I missed out on all that. Poor Ozzy! I am sure he was terrified.
Jenn says
Look at Ozzy! Luna would be a mess on a plane! She hates the car, and she hates people in my space.
I can only imagine all the feelings you must have been having over Caveman. This are such difficult times in so many ways. I’m so glad he’s ok and you were able to head south.
How exciting for your daughter! She truly sounds like an amazing and accomplished young woman. You should be proud.
Shathiso says
So glad your husband is feeling better and I can only imagine all the emotions you’ve had. Life is so precious and you said it perfectly when you said “tomorrow is guaranteed to no one”. Happy you’ve been able to get away for a bit. Also, please tell Thing 1 the runner blogger community is also proud of her!
Farrah says
I’m glad your husband is doing better + that Ozzy did well with the flying! I had a bunch of internships in college but they definitely were not paid, so I worked a few jobs on the side as well, haha. That’s awesome for her!
