Well I went ahead and jinxed us. All my talk about a mild winter and minimal snow meant Mom Nature had to go and do what she does. She dished up not one but two big fat winter storms along with polar temps that cut short some of our walks and sent me to the mill for some of my runs. Here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Tuesday: Walk 1 mile, Treadmill 4 miles
Wednesday: Walk 1 mile, Heavy Strength, Balance, Mobility
Thursday: Walk 1 mile, Bike Workout, Upper Body Strength + Core
Friday: Walk 2 miles, Treadmill Run 4 miles, Lower Body Strength
Saturday Walk 2 miles, Run 3 miles
Sunday: Travel Day, wait no make that another blizzard so bike FTW
My trails are now way too deep in snow for decent running so I took most of my miles to the treadmill this week. I don’t find treadmill pics anywhere near as compelling as nature pics so you’ll have to use your mind’s eye here. Some of our walks were sharply truncated as well due to the icy and frigid conditions.
We were supposed to head to Florida on Sunday but sometimes the best laid plans fall apart, or shall I say our plans were blown apart when the Caveman landed himself in the hospital with difficulty breathing and an erratic heartbeat. Three negative Covid tests and a few infusions of antibiotics later, he’s home now, feeling better but we still don’t have conclusive answers as to what exactly happened. Our flight likely would’ve been canceled or at least delayed due to the winter storm anyway. Oh well, time to regroup.

Kitchen Update
Yeah we’re going to need to learn this no-kitchen survival skill
The big news on the kitchen project is that we finally managed to retain a contractor. Fingers crossed he comes through for us and doesn’t pull a disappearing act. Other than finalizing a flooring material, we’re pretty much good to go. Yikes!
How was your week? Did you get a dump of snow? Any snowbird trips in your future?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

Snow is coming.
Hope you get to warm weather at some point and me too. Feb 11. With work I can’t postpone.
Wish I needed more skirts. Nope. I am resisting.
Healing vibes for the hubby.

There was a day this week when it was just too slippery to WALK let alone do anything else outside. I do get some satisfaction from my treadmill runs but you’re right that compelling pictures are in short supply. Whew that the caveman is OK and hopefully you will get some answers. GOOD LUCK on the kitchen. I have a tentative plan for how we’ll get by when we do ours (we haven’t even started yet so it won’t be anytime soon): our air fryer doubles as an oven, we have a grill, and I’ll get a hot plate to use as a stove for the duration. And we’ll also do a lot of takeout;-)

So glad your husband is home. Continued healing vibes for a quick recovery. Sometimes we just never know what caused something.
Our snow has not arrived yet. We had a little snow one day this week, but nothing to write home about really. Tomorrow into Tuesday looks to be a different story.
Good luck on the rennovation! So sorry about the trip. It’s been years since we’ve traveled. We are crossing our fingers & hoping maybe this Fall . . .
Deborah Brooks says
I am really glad to hear that your husband is home and recovering -so scary! Sorry your trip got delayed and I hope you make it there soon. Renovation sounds exciting. I guess the snow gets old to you since you have it all the time!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Glad your husband is home and feeling better! That’s too bad about your travel plans. We are getting snow as we speak so I’m sure my treadmill will get some good use over the next few days.

I hope the Caveman is on the mend — and that you figure out what was going on. Fingers crossed on the contractor. I was shocked when on Day 1 they had ours down to the drywall and plywood.
Off to check out SkirtSports. I put a hole in my “new” tights (bought in a spring sale but barely worn) when I fell, so I need a replacement!

Our snowstorm is coming tonight and continuing into tomorrow. I am hoping it won’t be too bad but they are estimating a foot of snow – ugh!
So happy to hear that your husband is feeling better. I can’t imagine how scary and stressful that must have been! I hope that the doctors will be able to give you both some answers soon. Although you’re not in Florida this week, I hope that you can all have a nice relaxing week at home.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
It’s great to hear that your hubby is feeling better. I hope that you can get a firm diagnosis quickly and he’ll be on the road to recovery in no time!
I’m sorry that your Florida trip was postponed/canceled. It’s snowing here in Virginia today and is forecast to continue through tomorrow.
Jessie says
No snow in Minneapolis, but it seems to be everywhere else! I don’t take a ton of treadmill pictures as they’re all the same, even though I do love my treadmill mural/room!
what a cute picture of you and your daughter in one of your first skirt sports! Love it. You are a great example of a lifelong runner and a retort for those people who say, “running will ruin your knees.” No, it won’t. Running safely will keep you healthy and your bones and joints happy much longer than a sedentary life!
Kimberly Hatting says
Yep, snow here, too. Alas, it IS winter in the Midwest LOL Thinking of all of you as your caveman recovers. We’re hoping to escape to Florida in March…fingers crossed.
Wendy says
Geez Marcia, what a week! I’m glad Greg is home and recovering but what the heck was that all about. Poor guy! I hope you get to reschedule your trip–it’s cool down in Florida right now, so it’s not so bad…right? Let me know if you need anything.
Jenny says
Okay, well, don’t read my recent post. Er… the weather is TERRIBLE here in Florida! You’re much better off where you are! Seriously… I hope your husband is okay. That’s scary stuff, a lot of stress to deal with. Wishing you a less eventful week coming up!
Jenn says
I am so glad Caveman is ok, but how scary. I’m also sorry your trip got postponed. It probably would have been easier to be out of town while the kitchen was under construction, at least for a little bit. I hope the time passes quickly!
More healing vibes to the Caveman and we are thinking of you all!
Michelle D. says
So very glad your husband is home! I hope you get some answers as to what was the cause.
Sorry about the trip – hopefully, you’ll get the chance to reschedule at some point soon.
Best of luck with your kitchen!
Cari says
We’ve had a mild, dry winter too and our second storm is going to give us 18 inches. Um, Momma N, no thanks!
So glad Caveman is on the mend. xx
I love that pic with you and Thing 1.
I have a pair of the Malbec tights waiting for me at a friend’s and I can’t wait to get them hopefully next weekend. I don’t usually run in tights but a few days I’d have liked them. I won’t mind one bit if picking them up ushers in an early spring. Was so glad to see Sarah or Erika mention that Cascade would be back. That’s my one true skirt
Zenaida Arroyo says
Glad your husband is doing much better. Oh Mother Nature was truly angry with us this weekend. That is good news about the kitchen.
Renée says
I was so relieved to hear that your husband is ok! must have been quite a scare though!!
Glad the kitchen will be starting soon! did they give any indication how long it would take? My neighbour just started her kitchen remodel. Getting us back for our bathroom remodel I guess! Ha!
Liz Dexter says
That’s a hard week, I’m glad your husband is back home. And all that snow!! Good luck with the kitchen. I have to say the stew we had at our friend’s house in the middle weekend of ours was the best food we’ve ever had!!
