The big news here is Thing 1 tested negative for Covid (she tests weekly) and flew home from Atlanta on Saturday. Hooray! I’m not sure how she’s avoided Covid (she’s done her best with masking and social distance, but still) but I am grateful! The week in workouts was pretty much more of the usual, and that’s just fine with me. Running is the gift I give myself!
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Track Intervals 4 miles
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles otherwise rest
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles, Lower Body Strength
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Upper Body Strength
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Plyo Intervals with 2 miles running 400m intervals
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 5 miles
We were treated to more mild weather days. 2020 may be a total shitshow but Mom Nature is really coming through in the clutch!
Track day was chilly, and heaven knows I often don’t feel like going, but the speedwork streak since August lives!
Our morning and evening walks are done in gradually lower light, but the sunrises and sets are beautiful.

Not Loving
The number of people in Baggage Claim at O’Hare either without a mask on, or with their mask worn under the nose or chin was STAGGERING! While I am not the mask police, I am truly disgusted by this behavior. Is it any wonder how 1 in 15 Chicagoans has active Covid right now??
I’m not one bit prepared for Thanksgiving. While it’ll be just the four of us in the immediate family this year, I still want to make it special. A certain Thing 2 requested an Oreo Cheesecake so the plan is to knock out most of the shopping today and formulate a game plan for that cheesecake.

Be sure to join us for a special Black Friday Edition of the Runfession Friday Linkup. I promise it’s more fun and way healthier than being out in a crush of humanity snagging doorbusters.
How was your week? Are you all set for Thanksgiving? Making any new dishes? I hope you have a healthy and joyous one!

Thing 2 has good taste! I might just have to copy her and make an oreo cheesecake myself.
Thanksgiving is going to be a repeat of last year with just the two of us. Since most people are doing small gatherings I was worried about being able to get us a turkey breast but I found one last night so we’re set. We’ll make small batches of stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, and apple pie==>done! Now that there are two vaccines on the horizon, I feel like the end is in sight and that makes it easier to go without the big family gatherings.

Yay for your daughter being home! We picked my son up on Friday – feels great to have everyone under one roof.
Thanksgiving will be a quiet affair here too – I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that it is this week. You’ll have to share pics of that oreo cheesecake – sounds so good!

So sorry about the mask covidiots – it happens on our high street but I’ve been fortunate enough not to have had to go anywhere more crowded.

Don’t even get me started on the whole mask debacle! I spend the majority of my day at work reminding parents (not the kids) to pull their masks up over their noses. I’m just tired of bad behavior. I don’t want COVID.
Hasn’t the weather been amazing?

I haven’t made Oreo cheesecake for a few years…are you going to color it orange (you know, for a “fall” holiday twist?). A new recipe I might be trying is a sweet potato/apple side dish (stay tuned). Glad the daughter made it home safely…enjoy your family time 😉

Great news on Thing 2 being covid-free and home! Her being healthy suggests that taking precautions can pay off. Ugh on the un-masked masses at O’Hare. I’m so glad the people we saw on our trip to Denver were masked-up. Oreo cheesecake sounds decadent for sure!

Yay for your daughter coming home as well. Enjoy all that family time. I totally changed my menu when I realized it was just the 4 of us. OH well more room for dessert right?! Impressed that you have kept up 4 miles a day of walking. I get out for walks at least 4 times a week and hope I can keep that up come January. Happy Thanksgiving and see you fro Runfessions

I’m so glad your daughter tested negative and can come home! Thats terrible that so many people aren’t wearing masks at the airport. My husband goes to the grocery store once a week and says he sees people without masks there. Why is it so difficult for some people to follow the rules?

Happy to hear your daughter is home. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family. The Oreo cheesecake sounds yummy!

Great news to hear that your family will be together!!
This will be a very sad holiday for us. Just the hubby and me – may just do Chinese take out lol

That’s awesome that your daughter tested negative. Must be a real relief!
It’s just me & Mr. Judy. And it’s basically all prepared foods that all I have to do is warm up — because that’s pretty much all I feel like doing. I did make some butternut squash soup today — that butternut squash, which I’d already cooked, was slowly going bad, hopefully it’ll last long enough for me to enjoy the soup. And I might make an apple crisp. At least that’s the plan.
Enjoy that time with your immediate family, Marcia!

It drives me nuts when people don’t wear their masks properly, especially in the supermarkets. I just do my best to avoid them. I can’t believe that so many people were that reckless at the airport – that’s insane!
So glad that your daughter is home and I hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving holiday.

So glad Thing 1 tested negative. That’s got to be a relief.
I guess we are ready for Thanksgiving. I’m not super excited about it. My parents are coming over, and we will eat outside and keep our distance. It will be so good to see them, but also such a weird day.
