After a week filled with extraordinarily nice days, our fantasy weather came crashing down and normal November conditions set in. Oh well, it was so very nice while it lasted. Here’s how my week of workouts went:
Monday: walk 4 miles, Track Intervals
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Run 3 miles, Strength for legs, Abs
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Upper Body Strength, Mobility
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles, Core work
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
Is it just me or does it feel like we are cruising on hyper-speed toward the end of the year?
Track day in tank and shorts in November? Yes please!
Running was good to me as usual and Garmin said kind things. I’m all about strength over stamina these days. I can run fast for a short period of time but don’t even ask about any long stuff. Endurance has left the building.
I took down the Halloween stuff and left just some autumn decor, but holy moly most of our neighborhood is decked out in holiday lights already. I think people just want some joy. I get it.
Our high school came up with an amazing plan for the kids to start hybrid learning at the beginning of 2021. There’s been lots of pressure from parents to get the kids back to school and the format they came up with is so impressive. Just as they shared their amazing hybrid plan though, the positivity rate in IL has soared to scary new heights, so who knows when we’ll actually be able to take any steps toward normalcy?
We celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary on Saturday with a very low key evening at home. Time flies.
Gluten-Free Gingerbread Protein Waffles. A million years and 25+ pounds ago, I used to bake like a fiend and the holidays were my jam. I’d spend a full week just making a dozen or so different kinds of cookie dough and I’d host a “bakeoff” with family and friends. For health reasons, I don’t bake like that anymore but I sure do miss that beautiful aroma of holiday spices. These gingerbread waffles give me all those holiday feels in a much healthier way. Stay tuned for the recipe.
In case you missed it, my recipe for Roasted Honey Chipotle BBQ Sweet Potatoes is here.
Watching
We finished the Queen’s Gambit. So good.
We’re a few episodes into Friends From College but I runfess I slept through most of the last one.
I am also loving Martha Knows Best on HGTV, when I remember to watch it.
How was your week? Is the Covid surge scaring you? What are you watching? When’s the last time you made waffles?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

Hell yeah the COVID surge is scaring me. I wrote about it too. I’m tired of it but even more so, I’m tired of people’s complacency with it. They’re putting me and my coworkers at risk and i can’t abide by that. We’re living in a selfish time, that’s for sure!
Loved The Queen’s Gambit! It was like reading really good book and now nothing compares, lol. I think I’m going to check out the new season of The Crown. I’ve always been intrigued by Princess Di!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
It’s not just you! I think now that we have the election settled and a vaccine that it’s “Operation Warp Speed” to get the pandemic behind us. When the pandemic first started I felt like time really slowed down, and in many ways it was nice to soak in the time with my family, but now we’re headed for a new era
The Queen’s Gambit was awesome! I just started season 5 of a British police show called Line of Duty. It’s very intense but so good.

I loved the Queen’s Gambit! So good. I’ll be watching this season of the Crown for sure! I actually feel like the previous seasons actually were a good little history lesson. There were a lot of events covered (like the long fog or the mudslide that killed all those kids 🙁 ) that I never knew about. So I consider it educational TV 🙂
Covid cases are crazy here. I’m staying home as much as possible. Weather makes it a bit easier to do so!

Happy Anniversary! I love that photo from your wedding. I also agree that it seems like the end of the year is fast approaching, but I’m secretly okay with that!
The surge in Covid numbers is concerning to me, especially what we’re seeing around here in terms of children with the the virus. It makes me very nervous for anyone that works in the schools. We’re currently at 6.5% positivity rate and I think once it gets close to 10% things will need to shut down again.

Yes, it feels like a fast-forward to 2021. We just started the Queen’s Gambit, and it’s good! I’m also watching Emily in Paris (mainly when I’m on the bike)…it’s so funny and light-hearted. We still have a few episodes of Schitt’s Creek to finish as well….so sad to see that end! Congrats to you and your caveman 😉 I love your dress!!

It definitely feels like we are flying to the year-end! Not sure if that’s good or bad!
Great to hear that your daughter’s high school has a plan – I hope they get to bring the kids into the classroom. Numbers here are surging too and that definitely has me a little freaked out. We’re keeping to ourselves as much as possible.
Congrats on 22 years 🙂

Happy Anniversary.
Crazy weather. Summer to winter in days.
Our cars are rising. I wish everybody would just wear a mask indoors.
Finished Emily in Paris. Haven’t decided on the next one.
Lately it’s been the good doctor. Greys anatomy and this is us.

I agree about the numbers being scary right now. I hope the whole winter isn’t like this! The end of the year really is approaching quickly. We will probably wait to decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Coco says
Happy Anniversary! I think people are eager to put 2020 in the rearview mirror, but I won’t start doing Christmas until December. That’s my excuse anyway.
Those gingerbread waffles sound great — I will be watching for that recipe!
Deborah Brooks says
We have found some new obscure things to watch. We just finished Legends if you like spy type stuff it is interesting. Did you ever watch the Imposters-really good. Happy Anniversary! Hope that your school plan works out. This year is flying by although every day feels the same! Yum on the waffles!
Jenny says
Yum! I will be eagerly awaiting that waffle recipe! I’ve also changed up my diet in the last few years and they sound like they’ll be right up my alley.
Erica @ Erica Finds says
We’re loving Queen’s Gambit – 2 more to go.
Happy Anniversary! We’re married 18 years today!

I used to start baking cookies in August to bring in for the holidays. Yes, those days are long gone. It’s been a while since I made waffles, although I do enjoy them. Pancakes seem easier, although both are somewhat time consuming.
The surges are scaring me for my mom; they’ve had a couple of cases there. I’m back to I don’t know when I’ll see her again unless we get a really nice day, and that’s scary too at her age (92). Somehow we just have to keep the faith. Not always easy.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Happy Anniversary!!
I am currently watching on Netflix “The West Wing”. I’m loving it.
So far there’s been no talk anymore of students and teachers back to the classroom. None of my kids’ parents have said anything about wanting them back in the classroom.
I like waffles but make pancakes every Sunday. My mom looks forward to them!
Jenn says
Happy anniversary!
I loved Queen’s Gambit. I’m watching The Boys and The Crown right now, when I can. We only have one TV, and not everything is appropriate for the tween.
I’m nervous about the surge, but more about how people have been behaving. No one acts right anymore.
