These weeks have been a blur. They fly by, one after the other, until here we are. Christmas is bursting out at Costco, and Shutterfly is telling me it’s time to order holiday cards. 2020 you’re a weird one. I find myself in a constant state of exhaustion and yet sleep eludes me. I just keep running. Before we get into it, here are my workouts and virtual races for the week:
Monday: Track ladder repeats
Tuesday: Strength training
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Friday: Walk 4 miles, ZOOMA Amelia Island Lighthouse Loop 5k
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, ZOOMA Amelia Island 12k
Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Heavy Strength
Just Keep Running
We had what seems like peak colors here this week, along with some changeable, up and down, very windy weather. I say I’d entertain moving to a warmer climate but I do love me some seasonal colors…if only there were less winter and more of everything else.
I completed the ZOOMA Cape to Coast Challenge. Let’s just say running a 12k when you’ve been running mostly 3 or 4 miles at a crack is daunting. Rightfully so. Instead of a Lighthouse Loop 5k, I ran a prairie loop. My 12k was run mostly along a river trail. We’ll have to have our girls’ race weekend in Amelia Island another time.
That bling though. Wow!
Our deck in warmer times
It was time to close up the deck and hunker down for winter. I tried to drag things inside more gradually this year so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed with the task. That plan was mostly successful, but still. It’s a big job.
As 2020 slips away and COVID19 does not, it becomes more apparent that we’re going to be living in this “altered universe” into 2021. The Tokyo Marathon has already been moved to fall 2021. What about Boston? What about the Olympics?? The Chicago Symphony has extended their season cancellation until March 30, 2021. Any hopes I had of Thing 2 finally getting back to in-person learning by January are fading fast. Sigh.
We’re struggling to find something new to watch. We finished Emily in Paris and now we’re a couple of episodes into Away. It’s not my favorite because I prefer something lighter, but it’ll have to do, I guess.
How was your week? Are you getting your head around an extension of the pandemic life? What are you watching?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

On the TV front, I binged a show called Strong on Netflix this week. It’s a reality show where ordinary women team up with elite trainers and compete. Nothing stunning but I really liked it (and it kept me on track with my weight workouts this week). Our governor said this week that there is a plan to get the vaccine out to the majority of our state by next summer…and he’s not up for re-election this year so I guess I believe him? Anyway, yep, we’re home for another 6 months at least. All I know is that someday this will be over.
Congrats on the bling!

We’ve been watching Succession; we also watched The Art of Racing in the Rain, which was a really good book I read a few years ago. It’s one of the few movies that was as good as the book and it made me cry…so fair warning.
I’m so tired of COVID and people behaving badly. The numbers at LGH doubled this week and yet people are still penis nosing their masks. Thank goodness for running and nature, right?

Yep, Met Opera and the Phil both cancelled the remainder of their seasons and Broadway is gone through May 31. So surreal, and yet I can remember so clearly when it was “just” Tokyo. Yet that seemed bananas when we heard it on the way to the airport.
I agree, shave off some winter, and the dog days of August and give them to spring and fall and that would be perfect. Spring here has tended to linger into June which isn’t bad though.
*HUGS*

We just finished Emily in Paris too-I loved it. Away we also watched good but kind of stressful. I am currently into Lucifer kind of different but entertaining. Also did the patio clean up this week it’s a lot of work for sure. Yes unfortunately it seems as though we will be dealing with all of this for some time to come. Just have to keep on moving forward. Running helps!

Lovely bling, and no, not coming to terms well with it at the moment, extra lockdown here, I can’t see my best friend and she can’t have her kids in the house as they’re away at university. Horrible. At least I have running and we’re not banned from running with friends at the moment.

I plan to check out Emily in Paris. I’ve heard its good escapism TV.
So true about moving to a warmer climate…I would miss fall, but nothing else 🙂 If I want to get a taste of winter, I could go skiing somewhere out west, ha!
So true about Covid not ending with 2020…

Guess I’m the last one to hear about Emily in Paris. My husband is driving me crazy with an Italian channel he bought to watch more cycling — I just can’t pay attention when I can’t understand the commentators. I’m resigned to being home through the end of the year. I think after that work will start pressuring us to come back, even though early on they promised not to until there was a widely available vaccine …. Bummer on in-person learning. Our public schools are making plans to take baby steps in that direction, starting in November,

I love the Zoom race medals!
On Netflix I’m still watch Schitt’s Creek but I’ll probably finish that this month – it’s good! I wish The Morning Show would come back on Apple TV but I know so many shows have been delayed taping because of Covid.
I started seeing Christmas items popping up in stores last month and I just rolled my eyes. I am really not feeing the holiday spirit just yet and I can’t imagine that other people are either.

I hear you on the never-ending Pandemic, but it will someday fade like all things do. There are days though . . .
Our deck is tiny. I suppose that makes it easier. It’s also on the second floor with no stairs (and I personally like it that way — it makes me feel safer).Mr. Judy now uses a rope to lower the furniture before dragging it off to the shed.

That photo of you running in those autumn colours! Beautiful!
Just this week we were discussing 2021 with friends. I guess the current mode is going to continue for a while.
So sorry for Thing 2. It must be hard for her.

Congrats on the Zooma challenge. Great swag.
I did the half. Would have enjoyed more if I were in Fla.
This pandemic seems endless.
No TV until the time change. But Emily in Paris is in my list.

We were just talking about this at dinner. It feels like there’s nothing to look forward to right now. Usually the holidays are fun but this year they are going to be minimal, and seeing people will mean stressful decisions. And then what? A winter stuck at home.
Congrats on your virtual races!

You said it with perfection…if only Winter were shorter. I love the change of seasons, but I think we seriously get robbed of summer in the Midwest (at least we do in Iowa). Currently, we’ve been watching How to Get Away With Murder…great show, but very dark at times. I’ll have to check out Emily when this show wraps up (we’re in the last season).

I just started watching Emily in Paris. 2 episodes now and I really like it! Have you watched the Umbrella Academy yet? My family is hooked on it. It’s so interesting! I also started watching Mystic Quest (on Apple TV+). Geeky stuff which I can relate to as a computer programmer. 🙂 Our school was going to talk about going back 5 days, but they said they won’t be able to do that right now. Need to delay the talk a few more weeks until it’s considered again. boo.

I’ll admit I can’t quite bring myself to come to terms with the fact that we will be dealing with covid well into 2021. I’m so sorry your daughter won’t get to in-person classes – having a hybrid schedule for my youngest is helping to save all of our sanities.
We’ve been watching Grace & Frankie – some episodes are funnier than others. I actually hadn’t heard of Emily in Paris.

Those are cute medals!! I remember one year I was signed up to run that race but then could not make it. But if it is a girls weekend then I will be up for it.
Those are pretty leaves!! I love Fall.
I am currently watching “The West Wing” and am liking it. I don’t remember why I did not watch it when it was on TV but here I am. I’ve heard “Emily in Paris” is good.
I know what you mean about school. I think this year will continue to be at home. It sucks but I get it.

This new normal can bite me. 🙁
I am so sorry Amelia Island didn’t happen. I was looking forward to trying the race series again and meeting you and some of the other ZOOMA ladies.
Currently, I am enmeshed in Schitt’s Creek. I’m also watching The Boys, and would like to start in on Raised By Wolves. Clearly, light and fun are not in my wheelhouse right now.
