Welp, it’s unofficially summer here. It even feels like summer: Hot, humid…once again we made a beeline from winter straight to summer. As I type it’s 7am and already 71 degrees. I get to enjoy coffee on the deck while I work. Nothing wrong with that! Once again it’s time to open up the Runfessional for some soul and sole cleansing. Let’s do that, shall we?

I runfess I’m looking forward to our state opening up somewhat and moving to phase 3. My hair is ridiculous already. Oh and my hand soap stockpile is running low. I’ve had to resort to “Fall Harvest”. It’s embarrassing.
I runfess I’m also a little tired of having everyone out walking on “my” trails. Part of me enjoys when the weather is a tad cool or nasty because it keeps non-runers inside.

I runfess I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw the 2020 Tokyo Marathon shirt. I mean of course it would have been wonderful to run Tokyo and all, and who even cares about the shirt, but ouch it’s ugly.
After seeing the 2020 Tokyo shirt, I dredged up last year’s London Marathon shirt. I runfess I’d never worn it. So I did. It’s the dreaded men’s cut. Then I wondered where the heck my Berlin Marathon shirt even was. I remember paying extra to get one…hmmm.
I runfess if I had to pick a best World Marathon Majors race shirt, I’d go with either Boston or New York City. Probably New York City.
I was really excited when Zenaida invited me to do the Great Race Across Illinois with her. I’ve been racking up plenty of running and walking miles. But I runfess I haven’t logged into the website to post any of my miles yet. It’s sheer laziness on my part.
Alright your turn: What have you to runfess? What’s your favorite race shirt?
Wendy says
I haven’t posted any of my miles yet either for that Great Race Across Illinois. I mean, does it really matter? Can I just post them when I’m done?
Let’s not even talk about the hair. My appointment keeps getting moved and now it is happening mid-June. This will be a full 15 weeks since my last hair appointment. Clairol has been taking good care of me and I’m liking the longer hair. It is what it is. Cocoa is another whole matter, tho. She’s so freaking furry. And believe it or not, the groomer is booked until next week!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
How rude of those people to use your trail! LOL I feel the same way!
Phase 3?! We are only moving into phase 1 tomorrow…
Kimberly Hatting says
Yikes, that Tokyo shirt does leave a lot to be desired. I have so many race shirts, it would be tough to pick a favorite…though my QC Marathon shirt would be a contender (since it was my first 26.2 party). The hubs tried substituting Palmolive (you know, the DISH detergent) in one of our hand soap “foaming” dispensers. The smell almost had me gagging, and the foaming wasn’t happening.
Catrina says
Wow, that Tokyo shirt is awful. What do you do with race shirts that you no longer use?
I used to have a colleague that took them with her to Namibia where she donated them. But I have to runfess that recently I’ve been lazy and just threw them away….

I shared in my post today that I haven’t had a haircut in a year! Its so gross. I cut my husband’s hair last weekend because his was getting out of control. He won’t cut mine though lol. I don’t think I hav a favorite race shirt. I wear my long sleeve Baltimore Running Festival ones alot. I also have a couple 3/4 zips from other local races that are nice too.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Yes I runfess that it is a bit of a pain to log into my state challenge race every day and oops I skipped yesterday. I have 3 activities to log every day (1 run + 2 dog walks) and the challenge goes on for a year so yes it is a bit tedious. I also runfess that race shirts make up a good part of my wardrobe and that’s one of the perks of working in a super casual office.
Kim G says
I had to laugh at your hand soap stockpile because it’s the same at my house! We have been using vanilla bean Noel the last few weeks haha.
Yikes – that Tokyo short is horrible. Still not as bad as that MCM shirt from a few years ago!
Salons can open up here starting next week and my hair appt is tentatively schedule for the middle of June. I hope that actually happens because I desperately need a haircut!
Coco says
It’s SO humid here — it hits me like a brick even taking Scooby out at 5:30 am. Nothing is worse than the MCM shirt from 2018(?) – sort of greenish grey with a picture of a big group of runners that just didn’t turn out well. My hair sucks, but I’m going to hold off until I need to go back into the office — or to my son’s wedding — whichever comes first.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Wow that Tokyo shirt is pretty awful LOL!
We’re only in phase 1 here in MA but salons can open next week. This is the longest I think I have ever gone without a haircut…this ish is getting ridiculous!
Darlene says
Crazy weather for sure.
I’m running and walking across NYS.
I am loving the trails and they are mostly empty. But I can’t seem to motivate myself to run. I walk and take pics.
NYC marathon. I’ll treasure that shirt. So glad I did it last year. Who knew?
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Apparently my hairdresser is actually opening her own salon. So that will be interesting. I’ve gone this long without a cut before, but with the onset of unofficial summer, man it’s so damn frizzy! Definitely the downside of natural hair.
Obviously I’m having trouble finding stuff.
I’m still just running on streets near home, so mostly not having to deal too much with other runners. The wrong siders still get on my nerves, but I’ve sort of made peace with that. Can’t change it, so no use getting angry, right?
Erica @ Erica Finds says
That shirt for Toyko – hahahah! So bad. What will they do with all of them I wonder?!
It’s been so humid this week. Oy. Every damn year it takes me time to get used to it.
Phase 3 is delayed here and no end in site for lake closure. So bummed. It’s crowded running and walking everywhere here. And Waterfall Glen parking is DuPage county only – RUDE! lol.
Deborah Brooks says
wow phase 3? We are starting phase 1 today! While I think it’s great that people are exercising more and getting outside w their kids, I wish they would do it somewhere else. LOL thanks for the runfessions have a great weekend
Jenn says
Oooh, that is an ugly shirt. I feel l like sometimes, they just hit on a design that isn’t good. Yuck.
What does Phase 3 entail for you? We are still, I believe in full Phase 1, but I haven’t been paying all that much attention. Full hermit status is engaged LOL.
Laurie says
Running across states is pretty appealing. Doing it with a friend sounds like fun. They do have a run across PA, which I looked at but haven’t actually pulled the trigger.
Did you and I do Berlin the same year? 2017? The shirt is short-sleeved olive green and red. Kind of weird. It is a woman’s cut though. Maybe you put it on your discard pile. That Tokyo shirt is even uglier than the Berlin one, hands down.
MCM Mama says
I’m signed up for the one across Wisconsin, but I’ll be the first to admit I only care about Tennessee LOL. I’m obsessive about running that one. Probably has to do with it being managed by Lazarus Lake from Barkley. Also, I could run across VA, but didn’t even bother to sign up.
Pretty much all of my marathon shirts are MCM. Some are awesome. Some are not. One is so ugly you have to love it…
Cari says
That Tokyo shirt. Yikes.
Cherry Blossom offered a $6 mail of medal & shirt. I never ordered the medal and when I saw the shirt, yeah, no thanks. Not paying extra for something that will get immediately donated.
You with the soaps is me with the hand sanitizer, I’m down to some weird ass scents that I only bought to get the deal.
I don’t care about the roots, but I am in dire need of a hair cut. But my quarantime hair goal was ponytail, and I got there. It will be a toss up between hack it all off and be done with growing out, or have a “long” two tone ‘do. I don’t think I like either choice right now.
