Wow it’s been quite a month since our last Runfessions, hasn’t it? So. Much. Has. Changed. It’s hard to keep up. One thing that hasn’t though is the Runfession Friday Linkup goes on. My workouts may have taken a pivot, thanks to a closed gym and social distancing, but they’re happening all the same.
Let’s get started, shall we?
I runfess this whole pandemic thing feels like something out of a sci-fi movie. As a kid, I well remember talk about how a pandemic would be the end of humanity. And here we are, living it. Although I’m holding out hope this will not be the end of humankind as we know it.
I runfess my usual snarky gymfessions seem especially petty now that we’ve got so much serious stuff to think about. I will tell you though, there are plenty of very sweet instances at the gym too, like this (what I suspect) dad and daughter running together. They ran the exact same workout, changing speeds together. It was beautiful to see.
What? You don’t do Boston-colored eggs? Just me?
I runfess stuffing plastic eggs with candy for our egg hunt has been challenging. Damn you soy lecithin. Oh how I wanted to pop some of those (or 60) peanut butter m&ms in my mouth. Candy is something I’d never buy for myself, however, resisting it when I have to handle it is a different story.
You know I love taking a runfie as much as the next blogger. We all have our techniques right? I runfess I was running along on a favorite trail the other day when I caught a glimpse of purple in a tree. When I got closer, I realized it was one of the resistance bands I use to secure my phone in trees for runfies. Apparently I’d left it behind. Whoops!
Now that the economy is in the crapper and the Tokyo Summer Olympics have been postponed, I runfess I hope all the 2020 Tokyo Olympics souvies I dragged home from the marathon last year will become collector’s items. One can dream.
Your turn: What have you to runfess? Are you keeping your sense of humor at this challenging time? Favorite spring treat?
Kimberly Hatting says
It is a weird time, but I’m trying to keep a sense of humor. Oddly, I feel more optimistic that a lot of people during this pandemic. I don’t have my head in the sand, nor am I oblivious to how serious the virus is….I just have faith it will be over someday (hopefully soon). And, I am hopeful we will come out of it much more grateful for the little things that may have been taken for granted. On a lighter note…those Boston eggs cracked me up (oops…no pun intended LOL). Hope you’re doing alright <3

It has for sure been quite a month! Sometimes I still can’t believe that we’re not even a full 3 months into 2020. The year has felt like a decade, lol
That’s such a great idea about using the resistance band to take action photos when you run!
Catrina says
Aaahh, that’s how you take your photos! That is genius!
I am pretty sure your Tokyo 2020 souvenirs could get a good price. Put it online and see what happens!
Kimberly Hatting says
Knock wood, I’m feeling more optimistic than most. I’m still concerned for the welfare of everyone, and I know how serious things really are, but I have faith that it will not last forever. I’m choosing to go the gratitude route with this one 😉 Those Boston eggs totally cracked me up (no pun intended) LOL

Oh no to the Olympics souvenirs — I bet they do become collectibles (but maybe not immediately).
So sweet about the father & daughter. I write a bit about that sort of thing for tea next week.
I love reeses PB eggs. Used to love Cadbury eggs, but that’s too sweet for me now. But PB & chocolate will never get old. i have mint (healthier) m&m style candies I bought months ago. They remain unopened, which is how I am not wearing them on my waist right now.
Deb @ Debruns gave me the biggest belly laugh this week when she said I made video look so easy (as I’m currently trying to sink the video & audio for my meditation).

I miss your your gym stories.
Aren’t you glad we did go to Bermuda.
Who knows when we’ll travel again.
Running is only normal. At least we have that.
Wendy says
I read back through last month’s runfessions. Life was so simple a month ago, wasn’t it?
Now I know your secret…lol! Safe safe, my friend. I hope your dad is doing well.
Coco says
That is a sweet sight at the gym! LOL on leaving your resistance band in the tree. Your photo secret is out! `Love the Boston colored eggs!
Deborah Brooks says
ok wow now I know your secret to the run photos! I never can get my tripod in the right spot a resistance band is genius! That made me smile today bc it’s normal in a world of not normal. Thanks for the Runfessions and be well friend

I am missing my gym workouts too. At least we just got a letter from our rec center saying that they will not be collecting monthly fees for the duration.
Love the idea of bungee cording your phone to a tree to get a runfie. I’m gonna have to try that. I always wondered how you got such good running photos.
Erica @ Erica Finds says
When I first saw your gym photo, I thought that was Thing 2 and it was your home gym and I was going to drive over and beg you to adopt me. LOL.
Such crazy times downtown. I’m so sad about the Lakefront (and you know from my ranting FB chat yesterday pretty panicked!) but people were doing really dumb things and did not listen. Well, Lori Lightfoot was not playing. I sure hope this will pass.
That resistance band idea is INGENIOUS!
MCM Mama says
Shh, telling secrets to how you get awesome photos…. Such a weird time we are living in right now. Not sure my kids will get Easter baskets this year – I totally did not think to buy anything for them.
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Bungie cord? Great idea! I always wonder how people take their pics. I can’t believe the Olympics are not happening! Nice pens!
Michelle D. says
Genius idea to use a resistance band for your action selfies!
Love the Boston-themed eggs 🙂
Jenn says
OMG the resistance band! That’s hysterical!
Everything is just so strange. And of course, I hate to complain about anything, but at the same time, it’s just hard.
I do runfess that I am jealous of people running. My speed walks are ok, but it’s not the same.
Cari says
Runfie! I love that
Yeah it feels like a year or six since the last runfessions.
Mm peanut butter m&ms. There was a meme floating about how many jars of PB have we gone through in isolation. Mine hasn’t been opened for that exact reason.
The Accidental Marathoner says
The dad and daughter at the gym made me smile, and the forgotten resistance band on the tree made me laugh! I sure could use more of that these days. Stay healthy. I hope your dad is doing better.
