Happy New Year! I hope you’re off to a good start in the new year and new decade. Let’s grab a warm brew, sit down and catch up. I’m linking up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Join us!
Over coffee I’d tell you it’s been an enjoyable winter break with some wonderfully mild weather. I’ve loved having the kids home from school. There have been so many parties, get-togethers and of course too many treats, but I haven’t missed any workouts and my gym visits have actually increased.
I’d call this my new food pyramid except I can’t eat tomatoes since they’re nightshades.
Over coffee I’d tell you I’m going all-in on the AutoImmune Protocol (AIP) diet starting Monday. For 6 weeks my diet will be stripped down to the most basic, natural foods. No gluten, dairy, soy, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, or added sugars. Only healthy fats, free-range/organic protein, organic vegetables and a small amount of select fruits. This is going to take a ton of planning and a ton of combing through ingredients. It’ll be interesting to see how effective it is in bringing down my rogue anti-thyroid antibodies (ATA).
Over coffee I’d tell you this month marks this blog’s 11th anniversary. I’m not even sure what to say about that. Clearly I cannot stop writing.
Over coffee I’d tell you I’m excited to try new BCAA Blast from Now Foods. I’ve been a fan of their Big 6 BCAA for years for muscle growth and recovery support. BCAA Blast contains 100mg caffeine so it’ll be a great pre-workout motivator.
Also new at Now for 2020 is Effer-Hydrate Electrolyte Tabs and Effer-Energy Electrolyte Tablets with B-vitamins and Green Tea Extract. Right now, both are ON SALE for $5.19 per tube! Remember you can save $10 off your $40 purchase at Now Foods with MARCIANOW10.
What would you tell me over coffee? What are you looking forward to this month?

I love that broccoli tree!
The AIP definitely sounds sensible. The only thing I am surprised about are nuts. I always thought they were healthy fats. I like to have a Brazil nut every day for Selenium.
Wishing you all the best with the all-in AIP phase!

Anxious to hear more about how the AIP works for you. I have experienced an uptick in RA symptoms this past couple of weeks, no surprise. I’ve been trying to stick to eating anti-inflammatory, but there has been more wine, more cookies…now to get back on track!
Coco says
Happy New Year! I love that broccoli Christmas tree — that broccoli looks a lot nice that what I usually find at my store. Good luck with the meal plan. It sounds like cooking from scratch might be the best way to go. Between being vegan and fermented soy products conflicting with her meds, my daughter’s diet is very tricky. When does Thing 1 go back to school?

Anxious to hear how the AIP works for you. I’ve experienced an uptick in RA symptoms the last couple of weeks. No surprise–there’s also been an uptick in wine and cookie consumption! Time to get back on track.

I don’t even consider myself a particularly good writer, but I do still have a love of writing.
Working out has become a bit difficult again, as I’m back on the back & forth to my parents, and I don’t see that ending anytime soon. It’s a difficult time, but I am glad that I can be there for them (even if sometimes I want to run away screaming!).
I did pretty good food-wise until I spent the last few days at the old folks’ home, LOL! There were definitely more sweets, but they were really good & I enjoyed every bite. You know I’ve done a variety of detoxes, ore resets, or whatever you’d like to call them over the years. They can be really helpful — the problem is most aren’t sustainable, but sometimes we just need that reset. Good luck!

That eating plan sounds very tricky! Hoping it really helps you get things under control. I am curious to hear more about the BCAA’s I wonder if something like that would help me?What do they do for you? Thanks for joining to catch up for coffee

The weather has been awesome, right? Glad the snow has already melted. 11 years of blogging, huh? For me it is 10 years. Simply wow!
Laurie says
Happy 11th anniversary! That is amazing. I hope you write for another 11 years (at least)! Good luck with the AIP diet. I think there are a lot of bad chemicals in the environment and our bodies are beginning to let us know that something is terribly wrong. I am excited to hear about the results. Keep us posted!

Good Luck on the new food protocol starting on Monday. You are so disciplined that I know you will stick with it, even when it gets hard.
Loving the new NOW Foods products – they look awesome!

Good luck with you new diet. Hope it accomplishes when you need to feel better.
I started my blog in March 2008. Who knows who cares about what I have to say. But I love the accountability of it and the people that I have met both virtually and in person because of it. So for no I an continuing.

Oh, wow, good luck with the diet! I would love to do something like that at home but it’s so difficult with my son, my husband, and my 90 year old mother here. Looking forward to hearing how you are feeling over time!

That broccoli Christmas tree is so cute, haha. Good luck to you on the autoimmune diet–I hope it helps!
Happy blogiversary to you! I may need to check out those electrolyte tablets–they’d be good for my super long hikes!

So glad you had a good holiday! I’m glad it’s over and glad to start the new chapter.
I am going to also do a sort of elimination / hormone reset “diet” (not dieting, just seeing if eliminating certain things help me feel better) after Ron’s birthday trip to Paris. No sense doing it before or during because… hello, it’s Paris. haha! I do believe nightshades are part of the elimination process…
I just hit 10 years blogging this past November. I don’t know that I like to write (I guess I do), but I do know that I like to look back. Sometimes it helps put things into perspective.

No grains, nuts, seeds or legumes? That would be tough for me. I wish you all the best!
Curious about the Effer-Hydrate. I just restocked my supply of Nuun tabs but I’m always open to new products.
San says
Wow, 11 years of blogging. That’s amazing.
I’ve been a loyal NUUN user but am intrigued by the Effer-Hydrate tabs. I am a bit picky when it comes to flavors.
Good luck with your diet. It sounds very restricting, but you know why you’re doing it!
