In the midst of the holiday season especially, it seems like my to-do list is a mile long and any chance of catching a breather to relax, regroup and recharge is wishful thinking. Staying consistent with my workouts and getting up early to set intentions for the day are two of my favorite ways to decompress, but recently I had the opportunity to sample CBD products from cbdMD.
I received these products free from Mom’s Meet to test in exchange for my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.
What is CBD?
Let’s back up a sec. Just in case you aren’t familiar with it, CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It’s a natural compound found in the hemp plant. Because it contains no THC, it is non-hallucinogenic and non-intoxicating. CBD comes in a variety of “delivery” forms, for example topical rubs, capsules, oils, bath products, gummies, etc.
What does CBD do?
This is a tough question because the effects of CBD are very individual. My experience with it differs from that of my husband. Depending on the individual, CBD may be effective for pain relief, calming depression and anxiety, enhancing sleep, and treating skin conditions, to name just a few. According to my research, CBD builds up in your system over time, so just because you may not feel results immediately doesn’t mean you won’t after a week or two.
One of the things that immediately appealed to me about cbdMD is their focus on quality control. All cbdMD hemp is grown in the United States. It’s organic, non-GMO, and gluten-free. All cbdMD products are tested by a third-party lab to ensure purity.
My Experience with cbdMD
cbdMD Bath Bomb. It’s no secret I enjoy an epsom salt bath after especially tough workouts or long runs, so opting for the Rejuvenate bomb first was a no-brainer. My initial impression was it’s smaller than other bath bombs I’ve tried. It contains 100mg cbd in addition to baking soda, epsom salt and essential oils. I dissolved the entire bomb under warm running water, as directed then relaxed for 30 minutes or so. The fragrance was pleasant and soothing. What happened next surprised me. I fell asleep in the bath. You read that right: I dozed off. That NEVER happens. I even awoke for a minute then dozed off again. Truly, I’ve never been that relaxed in a bath.
CBD PM Sleep Aid. This is a blend of CBD, Melatonin and other natural ingredients like chamomile, valerian root and cascade hops. It’s meant to relax you and help promote a restful night’s sleep. The directions are to put a dropperful of the oil beneath your tongue and hold it there for 30 seconds to a minute before swallowing, 30 minutes before bedtime.
Because I am so sensitive to meds, alcohol, etc., I was reticent to take the full dose. Instead I went with about half a dropper’s worth and figured I could increase it the following night if that amount was not effective. Turns out even with the half dose, I dropped off and had a wonderful night of deep, dream-filled sleep. I felt totally refreshed and not the least bit groggy in the morning.
Premium CBD Oil. This was the last product I tested because, to be honest, I was the most skeptical of this “daytime” CBD oil. I’m a pretty calm, cool and collected person, if I do say so myself. I rarely if ever struggle with nerves or anxiety so I wasn’t sure this product was the best fit for me. I was all prepared to tell you this one had “no effect” on me….until it did. A couple of hours after taking a half dose, I was monitoring my mood and noticing nothing different. Then it dawned on me: I’d been struggling with tension in my upper back due to a combination of “tech-neck”, strained trapezius muscle from heavy lifting and plain old stress. The pain and tension radiates up my neck and into the lower right quadrant of my skull. A couple hours after taking the daytime CBD, that pain and tension vanished completely. Boom!
Final Words. Overall I was very impressed with all of the cbdMD products I tested. They are very effective for me, even with less than the full recommended dose.

Meditation & yoga do help me a lot! I haven’t tried any CBD products yet. I know sometimes when I’m driving to my parents my neck gets so tight, although with all the back & forth the last few months I seem to have mostly gotten over that.
Always nice to read reviews from trusted sources. 🙂

Yes, I have tried CBD oil when I had problems with my Achilles tendon. It was the most magical thing and I instantly felt relief. I am a big fan!
I would recommend it to anyone who has muscle pain or tension. Thanks for the useful information!

Glad to hear the CBD was so effective! I love the topical products I rub on my aching joints–it seems to help me sleep too! But I haven’t taken an oral product yet. Not sure if I need to altho lately my anxiety has been through the roof. Great review!

I still have not tried any form of CBD…late to the party. Maybe it would help me nod off into dreamland faster, huh?

These products sound wonderful. I have so much trouble sleeping through the night that I am willing to try almost anything. Also my stress tends to settle in my neck and head. Sounds like I need to check out CBDmd. Thanks for the review Marcia!

I have not tried any CBD oil products myself but it sounds like people do seem to get relief from them. I have also fallen asleep in my bath! 🙂

I started using a topical CBD rub during marathon training this summer and I thought it was a life-saver. I have been hesitant to try an oral product yet because, like you, I tend to be super sensitive to most things. I have been struggling with sleep for the past couple of months so now you have me intrigued. Great review!

I had tried a CBD cream once or twice but I didn’t notice any benefit – probably because I need to use it more often. I would totally try the bath bomb as that sounds SUPER relaxing!

I need to get these. I have trouble falling asleep and then struggle to wake up the next morning. The oil would definitely help me relax as almost every day I am stressed out at school with everything that I need to do.
