We’re in full-on holiday mode here. Thing 1 finished (make that spanked) her finals and flew home from Atlanta. Thing 2 has one more week of school. It feels SO good to have everyone together, under one roof again. Here’s how my workouts went:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Run 3 miles
Wednesday: Strength + Plyo Intervals w/2 miles running
Thursday: Trail Run 3 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Trail Run 4 miles
Sunday: Strength + Stepmill Tabata
Running stayed to the bare minimum. I think about ramping up, but that’s as far as it’s gotten. Just thoughts. No action. Haha! After getting a couple of snowstorms in late October/early November, we’ve been mostly snow-free since. The barren landscape could use a coating, but I won’t complain.
Overall the week was a good one. Busy of course, but filled with joyous, holiday-related events. Office parties, flute rehearsals and holiday concerts. One concert and a masterclass are complete, two more holiday concerts to go. I told Thing 2 all I want for my birthday is a playlist of some of her flute pieces. I’m not terribly hopeful I’ll actually get it, but one can dream. She’s had one helluvan amazing year.
Salad with a side of broccoli anyone??
Despite having PLENTY of holiday treats in the house, I’ve been pretty good about sticking to my mostly AIP (autoimmune protocol) diet. I did enjoy some pizza and popcorn, which will be off the menu in January, but I’ve done zero holiday baking, which is a huge win for me. All willpower goes out the window when there are home-baked cookies in the house.

OMG that full moon! Did you catch a glimpse of the Cold Moon? Our last full moon of the year and decade? It was a stunner!
Richard Jewell Movie. This is a sad story that needed to be told. If you’d asked me who was behind the bombing in Centennial Park in Atlanta back in 1996, I’d still have thought it was Richard Jewell. What a mess the media and the FBI made of this innocent man’s life.
Not Loving
Decluttering the blog. This is what I get for writing this dang thing SO darn long. I’ve been going back and removing broken links, idiotic posts, reviews of products that no longer exist, and the like. It’s a slow and painstaking process but what a walk down memory lane! My kids were SO little. I looked so much younger. So many brands are long gone. I used to do SO many giveaways that are now irrelevant.
Week Ahead:
It’s yours truly’s birthday week. Because the holidays aren’t enough chaos on their own. Haha!
Mark your calendar for December 27 and join me for the final Runfession Friday Linkup OF THE DECADE!
How was your week? Are you training through the holidays? Looking forward to 2020? Savoring what’s left of 2019?

Happy Birthday
My week sucked.
Looking forward to 2020 and pain free foot.
Worrying about missing my 2020 halfs

I need o go back and declutter some old posts as well. Great idea! So glad that you have everyone home again. Just feels good to have all the kiddos under one roof. My baby comes home Thursday. Counting the days. Happy birthday in advance!

Congrats to thing 1! My training plan this winter is to cut back on mileage. I was just a little burned out and I don’t need to start training for my next half until January, so I’m doing lower mileage and working on speed. I think it’s good to just take a break once in a while, and the transition from fall to winter is the perfect time to cut back.

Hooray for having everyone home! Mike is out of town but I had a drop in by Tom and that turned into dinner. He went out with his friends and came back to spend the night. Here I thought I was going to be alone…I go to get Matthew tomorrow. This adult children thing is turning out to be ok.
There’s a special something heading your way! I hope it comes in time for the big day! Happy Birthday, my friend!

Well done for sticking to the AIP despite having plenty of treats in the house!
That salad with a side of broccoli looks so good – was that the office party thing?
I hope Thing 2 will do that playlist for you, let’s see if she gets round to doing it. You definitely will get it one day, the question is only when. 😊

I do way less baking these days too. Wait, you’re supposed to go through old posts, LOL? That’s why there’s a date on them, as far as I’m concerned. So hard to eat healthy when the days are short and all the comfort foods are calling my name.
No training here. Definitely ok with that. Life is busy enough as is.
Savor your time with your family, you know how fast that time flies!

I finally got the bilk of my holiday baking/sweet making done Friday night. I have kept my hands out of it for the most part. My trick…Invisalign LOL I have to think twice about everything I put in my mouth because I will have to then brush/floss afterwards.I have several posts from this past year that the pics are no longer showing…I read somewhere that the links to said pics can die (?) or no longer be valid, even if they are your own pics. So…I need to revisit the drafts (in my free time, because I have PLENTY of that) and reload the pics. That’s assuming I will remember the exact ones that go where. Happy early birthday!!!

It’s such a blessing to have everyone under the same roof for the holidays. Although busy, I’m sure it’s bringing you so much joy! 🙂
I saw a commercial for the Richard Jewell movie and I definitely want to see it just based on the commercial. I read up a little on the case and it made me so sad, especially since he passed away so young.

That moon was crazy awesome! We saw it the other night when we were driving to a Christmas party. Are you training for anything in the spring? If not, take some rest from running! You’ve been training for lots of marathons this past year I feel like…you deserve to take it easy 😉

What a great idea to declutter the blog, but its intimidating to think about. Good for you!

Happy Birthday week! I do know how great it is to have everyone home. <3 <3 My blog could use similar cleaning- maybe I’ll find time over the holidays.
Laurie says
Congrats to Thing 1 for a great semester. Isn’t it fun having everyone home for the holidays? We have a full house right now too – everyone except my oldest and his family. At Thanksgiving, my youngest was missing.
I haven’t been blogging for very long (2 years), but mine could use a good decluttering too.
Liz Dexter says
I’m running through the holidays as a) I want to beat last year me’s mileage, and b) I’ve signed up for a 12 Days of Christmas marathon thing for charity, where we have to run 26.2 miles in total over that period! And well done for that decluttering – so hard to make yourself do!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Geez, I really should think about decluttering my blog – glad you mentioned it.
So wonderful to have everyone home – My son comes home this week and I cannot wait. Enjoy your family time! And Happy Birthday!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I hope you had a great birthday!! I need to do a similar thing with my blog. I have had a few different domains and went back and forth with WordPress and Blogger that some of the posts look weird, photos are upside down, etc, etc. At one point I thought about hiring someone but is it worth it? In reality no, but a part of me says yes because I want it to look decent and in order. Richard Jewell? I had to look up the name. I had forgotten about him.
Thelma says
How many times did Jill try to win one of those damn giveaways???? And how many times did she actually win? She told me zero – and I believe her.
Oh the blog. I look back on mine from time to time – it is definitely a fun trip down memory lane. Well, until you see how fast you used to run, then I shut it down and go back to my icing my achy knee and heating my stupid foot.
