It’s getting to be that dark, spooky time of year. What better time to open up the Runfessional for the Runfession Friday Linkup? It’s always good to bare our sweaty souls and soles and start a new month with a clean slate, am I right? Let’s get started:
Halloween is just about here. Even though I’ve got just one 14 yr old in the house now, and I know for a fact that we’ll get maaaaybe a handful of trick-or-treaters AT MOST. I runfess I bought no fewer than 5 bags of Halloween candy. Let the record show, it’s been sitting in the pantry for over a week now, unopened. Why do I do this to myself?
Typically I don’t get spooked very easily, but I runfess coming across these awful-looking things while out running really threw me. Apparently they’re called Stinkhorn Mushrooms and I understand they smell horrible, thus the name. I runfess I did not get close enough for a whiff. Gross!
Which came first: The ad?
Or the World Marathon Majors Medal? Eerily similar, right?
You all know how obsessed I’ve been forever about snagging the World Marathon Majors 6 Star Medal., right? I runfess I was taken aback when I saw this “knockoff” of the coveted prize. Technically I doubt there’s any trademark infringement since the designs are from two completely different industries, but it kind of makes you go hmmmmmm doesn’t it?
After a week and FIVE trips to the Verizon store, knock wood, my new phone finally seems to be functioning fully. In the process, Twitter restricted my account and I think brain surgery might have been easier than it was getting that sorted out, and in the process I lost over 100 followers. I runfess in the past, I’d assumed people with restricted accounts were posting porn, political rants, stinkhorn mushroom pics or other inappropriate content. Who knew changing wireless phone carriers was such taboo?
Alrighty your turn! What have you to runfess? Fave Halloween candy? Ever had a social media account shutdown?

Happy Runfessions!!! Sorry for my lack of participating, there’s this little race in DC this weekend and I will be running on the fly (quite literally)…from about 3:30 a.m. tomorrow and on. Eeewww…those mushrooms, quite nasty! I impulse-bought a bag of Reese’s and have only eaten three (so far LOL). Invisalign has done wonders for my will power 😉

York Peppermint Patty.
I have a candy dish on my desk and colleagues are surprised I can deal with it – they haven’t realized I fill it iwth candy I mostly don’t like.
Mushrooms are gross. I used to hate finding them in the back yard when it’s damp.
Glad your twitter is fixed. I have no doubt you’ll get your followers back.

I don’t think I would want to come across those mushrooms! Sorry you are having such issues with the phone stuff. Why are things like that never simple? I runfess I never log into twitter anymore. I just automatically post there when I post on instagram or publish a blog post.

Those shrooms look spooky! We had zero trick or treaters last year. Our neighborhood had a parade with a fire truck and a block party, so I guess the kids didn’t bother walking up our hill after all that.

There is nothing new under the sun!
I need to set up voicemail on my cell phone. I never set it up. I’ve had it almost 2 years. And yet it seems to think voicemail has been set up, so that means a chat with my carrier. I feel your pain. Although apparently Verizon was able to help out on my mom’s cell phone.
We don’t give out candy — turn out all the lights & pull the curtains. There are a lot of kids in our neighborhood, and even more have moved in recently. I didn’t buy any candy, either. I’m sure Mr. Judy isn’t happy about it, but we’re in a raised ranch so you have to camp out on the landing (plus handle the dogs). Just call me scrooge.

Ha! I bought one jumbo bag of my favorites (Hershey’s variety) because we don’t get a lot of trick or treaters. I mean, what to do with all the extra candy, right?
That is so crazy about the phone. I wonder why you’d lose all those followers?

Love em.
We never used to get many trick or treaters but more young couples have moved into the neighborhood. So we’ll see.

I runfess that I use twitter so seldom now that I have not even added it to my “new” phone (that I’ve had for over a year now.)
Those mushrooms are… interesting.

Eek on the shrooms. I runfess that I can’t remember the last time I visited Twitter. I’ve gotten so burned out on social media.

Halloween was always my favorite holiday to get into and decorate. Now that the kids are gone I don’t do it anymore. We don’t get any kids coming to our house. This year, I did not buy any candy (yet) but I was so craving some last night. I rummaged through my pantry searching for chocolate (PMS) and ended up eating chocolate chips. Not as good as Reeses for sure! As I stood there eating them in the pantry, I thought this is what they mean by closet eaters. Wow that was a Runfesion.

I also purchased Halloween candy already, but I’m proud of myself that everything is still sealed. Let’s just hope I can last another week without opening!
So sorry that you had such a nightmare dealing with Verizon, but glad that it seems like everything is back and running normally now!
Those mushrooms would have stopped me in my tracks too – they look so odd.

I hid the candy I bought from myself!
The Wharton image is standard PowerPoint (and pretty lame!) lol!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I runfess that I still haven’t bought any candy – I will probably hold off till the last possible minute so it’s not in my house. I’m a sucker for Reece’s and York Peppermint Patties!
Those shrooms are pretty creepy!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Because our street is so busy with traffic, we tend to not get trick or treater’s…and yet, we have purchased way too much candy that we just have been eating ourselves over the past month, lol! Reese’s cups are definitely my favorite!
Wild mushrooms always freak me out….I’m glad you didn’t get a whiff of those, they are so ugly!
Thanks for hosting the runfessions, yours always make me laugh!
Laurie says
Am I the only one who thinks that those mushrooms look…ummm…phallic? We bought a huge bag of candy and will only get a few trick-or-treaters. Coincidentally, the bag we bought is my hubby’s favorite kind! 🙂
Jenn says
Oh my gosh! I can’t believe they shut down your Twitter! That’s crazy!
I love Twix and Take 5 bars. And Reese’s cups that have been chilled in the fridge. I just love the whole idea of Halloween in general! I’m excited for this year.

I used to save up books all year to give to trick or treaters and they loved it, “Oh, it’s the book lady’s house” etc. Then one year the next day I came out and found a couple of books torn up and all over the street and I was upset, cross and embarrassed and now we hide instead. Kids round here are pretty good and usually only knock if there’s a light on and a pumpkin or ghost etc showing.
