This post is sponsored by CBDMEDIC but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.
As an avid runner, cyclist and gym rat, I am no stranger to the muscle and joint aches and pains that go along with an active lifestyle. Performing an exercise that is new to you, going further, faster or lifting heavier can all result in DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), not to mention the times when we seek temporary pain relief from muscle strains, sprains, etc.
Post-Workout Pain Relief with CBDMEDIC™
Why do muscles get sore?
Muscles feel sore because tough workouts cause micro-tears in the fibers. The training process is a calculated sequence of tearing muscles down then allowing them time to recover, adapt to the workload, and build back stronger. That’s how we become more fit.
Why is recovery important?
Recovery is a crucial part of any training plan and should never be skipped. Just as there are a wide variety of training plans out there, there are also a variety of ways to recover. The key is finding the ones that work best for your body.
Recently I was invited to try Active Sport™ Advanced Pain Relief Stick from CBDMEDIC™
I was pleasantly surprised to learn it is available over-the-counter at my nearby CVS pharmacy. I headed over and easily found it in the aisle where pain-relief products are sold.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s an oil rich in cannabinoids, extracted from the Cannabis Sativa L plant. Because it is THC-free, there are no hallucinogens. CBD is a natural alternative for pain relief that is safe, effective and legal.
I chose the Active Sport™ Advanced Pain Relief Stick because, having run the Tokyo and London Marathons, and finishing off the 6 World Marathon Majors earlier this year, you probably know I love to travel for races. The portable, no-mess convenience of a stick really appealed to me, not to mention it’s perfect for tossing in a gym bag.
Natural Ingredients I Can Trust
The Active Sport™ Stick contains cooling camphor and menthol, so it feels icy and soothing as soon as it’s applied. The proprietary formula increases blood circulation and reduces inflammation. I love that it glides on smooth and is not greasy or heavy. I used it on my achy hamstring after running as well as after heavy strength training sessions, but it can be used on dry, unbroken skin before and during workouts as well. Other natural ingredients in the formula include Clove Oil, Peppermint Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Eucalyptus Oil and Beeswax.
All CBDMEDIC™ products are backed by 15 years of pharmaceutical research and development. I especially love that everything is completely free of synthetic fragrances, artificial dyes, steroids, parabens, petrolatum and phthalates. I’ve come to realize that everything I put on my skin is absorbed, so high quality and purity are of utmost importance.
The Active Sport™ Advanced Pain Relief stick is definitely a product I’m going to rely on for temporary, natural pain relief after tough workouts.
In addition to Active Sport™ formula, CVS also carries Back and Neck Formula as well as an Arthritis Pain Reliever. Check out the complete offering or shop online here.
What’s your go-to for relieving muscles aches and pains? Have you tried CBD?
I’m linking up with Kim and Zenaida for Tuesday Topics, and with Debbie and Marc for Running Coaches’ Corner.

I haven’t tried CBD, mainly because it’s so unregulated. I’ll stick with my Deep Blue Rub, which thankfully I haven’t had to use in a really, really long time. Then again, I haven’t been running a lot. Coincidence, LOL?

This sounds like a great option to the CBD craze. I especially am intrigued with it being in a stick… more convenient than the actual oil. I’m one of the last ones who has not yet boarded the CBD bus, but this is the first product that actually interests me…thanks for the great review!

I’ve been using Biofreeze for years to help with muscle soreness but I’ve heard so much about CBD products that I’d really like to give them a try. Thanks for brining this brand to my attention!

I’ve had great results from CBD for my achy joints. Sadly the product I use is no longer available. I may have to check this one out! Thanks for the review.

I love that CBDMedic is available at CVS! That sure makes it convenient! I’ve had mixed results with CBD, but I do seem to get some relief from the arthritis in my hands with it. I’ll have to check this out!

I have not tried any of the CBD products myself. I think the idea of having it in a stick is way more convenient than a messy gel or cream. Glad it’s working well for you

CBD is taking the sports world by storm. Problem is there are so many companies to choose from. It’s utterly confusing. This one seems to be a viable option. Need to check if it is available here…

OMG haha! I had no idea you posted about DOMS and muscle soreness this week. Clearly it’s on both our minds. 🙂
This stuff looks amazing. I have CBD oil that my husband took over. I should try some of this stuff. Thanks!

I’ve been having very good luck with CBD products since starting marathon training. Nice that this one is available at CVS – I’ll have to keep that in mind when my current supply runs out.

I’m interested to see/hear what the long term implications are of using CBD. I haven’t tried and not really interested in the value, but I am curious as there is quite the buzz about it.

I have not tried any of the CBD products yet- interesting that Bath & Body works are carrying the line as well.

This is the 2nd post I’ve read about CBD. It is a sign that I must get it, right? Love the convenience of getting it at CVS. I checked Walgreens and Target and it isn’t available there. Sorry it took me so long to read your post. Thanks for linking up!
