Okay it’s not officially fall. I lied, as fall doesn’t OFFICIALLY arrive until Monday, 9/23. Not that I’m rushing the seasons or anything. It’s been a blur this past couple of weeks. In a good way, but still. Why does every single thing hit the fan at once? Just why? Weather wise our heat and humidity returned. While it’s warmer than it typically is for this time of year, the nights have been cooling down nicely so I can open the windows, which is always nice. Post ZOOMA Great Lakes, my running returned to the back burner.
Monday: Run 3 miles
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: Run 3 miles +12 min Tabata
Thursday: Strength + 20 min Tabata
Friday: Yoga
Saturday: Rest (flute auditions with Thing 2)
Sunday: Strength/Tabata
I’m staying the course with intermittent fasting on most days and it’s been about 3 weeks now since I added Tabata workouts to my routine. I haven’t weighed myself, but I’m feeling good and my clothes are finally starting to fit differently so YAY! Intensity does an old-lady body good!
All is well on the home front. We celebrated my mom’s 79th birthday and Thing 2’s musical talents continue to blow my mind. She’s had some exciting opportunities lately that have required tough decisions about her future. I can’t tell you what’s going down exactly (because she asked that I not) but let’s just say WHOA! I could not be more proud of her. It is truly amazing the magic that lies at the intersection of talent and hard work.
Loving
Active Beauty Marine Collagen. You know I love my collagen and have seen amazing results since taking it: Brighter, smoother skin, less joint aches and pains and faster recovery after tough workouts to name a few. Recently I had a chance to try Active Beauty Marine Collagen. I simply mix the powder with water and it makes a refreshing Strawberry Lemonade drink. It’s gluten-free, non-GMO, contains no artificial flavors or sugars and it tastes great. This would be perfect for those of you who’d rather not use a beef-derived collagen. Get it on Amazon (affiliate link) and try it for yourself.
Nutpods Pumpkin Spice Creamer. I runfess I’m not the biggest pumpkin spice fan that ever lived. And I cringe when I think about the sugar in those PS lattes. Typically I’m a black or coffee with half and half kind of girl but at this time of year, I welcome a little spice. I found Nut Pods Pumpkin Spice Creamer. (affiliate link) It’s made from almond milk and coconut cream, is dairy and soy free and has zero added sugar. It’s just the hint of spice I was looking for!
Not Loving
For over a week now I’ve had this pain in my shoulder/upper back that radiates up my neck and into the lower right portion of my skull. It isn’t always painful but rather it comes in waves. I may have strained something or pinched a nerve while weight lifting or it’s something to do with tension…or perhaps all the time I’ve spent driving lately…I don’t know but I sure wish it would go away.
Speaking of Runfessions, Join me right here this Friday for the Runfession Friday Linkup!
How was your week? Is running on the front burner? Or back? Are you all-in for fall?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

I’ve been wondering about the Nut Pods creamer. I’ve heard great things about it but didn’t know they had a pumpkin spice flavor – I will have to try it!
I’m sorry to hear about the pain in your upper shoulder. Do you think a massage might help release some of the tension there? I hope that it starts to feel better soon.
Deborah Brooks says
I have not seen the nut pods creamer or the marine collagen lemonade yet. Both of those look like something I might like. Congrats to your daughter-it’s so much fun to watch your kids succeed and thrive doing something they truly love. Hope that shoulder thing feels better soon.

I am so confused by our weather lately, we’re starting to get fall colors AND it’s 85 degrees. I’m all in for fall running, if fall ever gets here that is;-) Congrats on seeing results with IF and tabata.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Huh. And here I DID think it was Fall (even if it doesn’t feel like it). So sorry about the shoulder pain. Hope it goes away! I have been spending a lot of miles in my car, but the only thing that bothers me is sometimes my neck tenses up — more about what’s going on than the driving.
Running is definitely somewhat on the back burner for the forseeable future.
Wow, you’re mom’s a baby! Mine’s 91. But yes, there is almost 40 years between me & my parents.I always complained about how they were so much older than my friends’ parents.

We had a pretty intense summer-relapse with the weather last week. Most people know I’m not crying about it LOL I do like fall, though. I just prefer the fall weather to happen when the calendar actually calls for it 😉 Ouch on the should thing you mentioned….hoping that clears up (or eases up) soon! And, congrats to the daughter 😉

I do like Pumpkin Spice creamer and will have to try that creamer. Maybe a massage will make you feel better? If not, then maybe a visit to the chiropractor? Those two is what have helped me with my back and any back related pain. Excited to hear about your daughter! That is awesome!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I wish fall would come in already! It gave us a nice tease this week and then summer came roaring back!
Congrats to your daughter! Sounds like exciting things ahead!
Sorry about your shoulder – time for a trip to Dr. Miracle maybe?
angela @ happy fit mama says
I’m not mad at the weather at all right now. I’m glad summer made one last hurrah before we are officially in fall. I won’t be made if it sticks around too! Hope your shoulder feels better soon!

Awesome on Thing 2. Boo on your shoulder
All in for Fall, but summer is visiting this weekend

I get a similar feeling in my upper back/neck and its so annoying! It’s not painful but makes me wants to massage my neck all the time. I think its tension or related to the way I sit at my desk at work (its always more towards the right side). I hope it feels better!
So exciting that your daughter has such great things happening!
Debbie says
Well, I’m reading this on Monday so it definitely is fall. Yay!!!!
I get spots in my upper back/shoulders sometimes too. They trigger a headache! I try using a tennis ball or massage ball against a wall and rubbing it out. I hope it feels better soon.
Wendy says
Sounds like it might time for a call to Dr Miracle! Hopefully, that shoulder thing is nothing serious. Who’s got time for that?
It’s feeling a bit fall-like today…
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I am loving the break in humidity we got this weekend! It’s like Florida finally decided to play along and welcome fall with the rest of the world! I know our heat will come back but right now it’s been so nice to run in these lower temps.
I hope you figure out what happened to your shoulder/neck! It can be so frustrating when you don’t know what you did or why you are in pain.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I’ve only tried one PSL at Starbucks, and that was iced. I wasn’t a fan! I do see they have a pumpkin drink that’s especially made to be an iced coffee, so I’ll try that next time. I won’t be sad to see summer go. I love having all four seasons around here. Each one is great. Well except for spring. That’s my least favorite season, but at least it has beautiful flowers and green plants!
