School’s officially out this week and summer weather arrived in all it’s fabulous, sun-kissed glory. We actually strung together 4 (FOUR!!!!) gorgeous, rain-free days. After our cold, wet spring, this felt quite fabulous. Here’s how the week in workouts went:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Run 2.5 miles (ran out of time)
Wednesday: Run 5 miles
Thursday: Swim + Strength Train
Friday: Run 4 miles + leg day
Saturday: Rest (actually tons of yardwork)
Sunday: Wonder Woman 10k (recap to come)
My running mileage is low by design, although I runfess it still feels weird. Did you notice that swim in the rotation for the second time in as many weeks? Yeah I’m pretty proud of that.

I’m showing my age here but this song always goes through my head this time of year.

School’s Out! While Thing 1 has been out a few weeks already, Thing 2 officially became a rising 8th grader this week. I’ll have nobody in high school this fall and that’s a-okay with me. Time flies fast enough. Having no school schedule to adhere to means I can get my workouts done earlier AND there’s much less traffic, which is awesome for running.
Thing 2’s spring flute recital. This was yet another occasion where I stuffed my purse with Kleenex because I suspected I’d lose it….and then I didn’t. But I’m SO amazed with the progress she’s made with music this year. Her spring solo was 8 levels higher than the one she performed last December. I think I mentioned before that Thing 2 has a long history of quitting every single thing she tries. She’s got 3 years in with her flute now, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed she’ll stick with it.
First strawberries of the season. Omg so good! It’s time to make my Lemon-Berry Shortcakes.
2-year anniversary of Ozzy’s gotcha day. That sure went fast! What would I do without my little monkey?
ZOOMA is headed to Bermuda! Mark your calendar for February 15-16 and join me for a weekend of running adventures. There’s a variety of race distances to choose from and a multi-race challenge. Use Code MARCIA to save 15%.

Sweet cravings. I told you last week all about how I was gonna work on this. But I didn’t. Whoops! I already stuffed the fridge with all kinds of veggies/greens so this week will be better.
My veggie garden. I’d been growing veggies seedlings indoors for months but, because it’s been so cold and wet here, the community garden opened 2+ weeks late, and I still haven’t gotten out there to get my plot started.
How was your week? Is school out? Have you been to Bermuda? Did you race?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

We used to have strawberries here until some fungus took over. Man, those were the most amazing strawberries I’ve ever had! Even though we no longer have those, my neighbor’s raspberries have snuck through the fence and we are enjoying those. I love all the fresh grown produce!
I wish I could go to Bermuda. I think it’s amazing that Zooma is having a race there!

That photo of Ozzy is so cute!
A race in Bermuda sounds amazing! Of course that would be the ultimate racecation too.

We had some picture perfect weather here too – wasn’t it glorious!?
A race in Bermuda sounds like fun…tempting 😉

Yes, this past week (almost) made up for summer’s late arrival. Gosh, Bermuda sounds enticing….;-) Gosh, you’ve had Ozzy two years, already??? I’m excited to hear about the WW race! Thanks for linking with us, Marcia!

Love your pictures and that you had some sun – hooray! And I’m working on my sweet cravings by trying to sleep more (still!) and not buying any chocolate (not sure how that’s going to work out). Good luck to you on that, we’re trying together at least!

I would love to grow strawberries, but I think our yard is too shady — can’t grow tomatoes. Congrats on Thing 2’s flute progress. Sounds like she had found something she’s talented at *and* enjoys. Zooma Bermuda is tempting ….

I would love to grow fruit (or anything!) but I tend to kill plants so I don’t even try. It’s been a few years, but I do remember the joy of school being out. Especially when the kids are a little older and can take care of themselves during the day. Love that your daughter has found something that she loves to do. So important!

We always play that song on my son’s last day of school when we are driving home. lol

Ozzy is too cute.
I would like to race in Bermuda or everywhere abroad but my wife is scared of traveling.

Ozzy is so cute.
Darlene and I are going to talk Bermuda today, I think
The strawberries have been on steroids this spring. Loving it.

I was so excited when I saw the Zooma Bermuda race it’s so close to VA/DC but that time of the year there is no direct flight. Kind of a deal breaker for me. I am sure I will have major FOMO though. I may do RnR New Orleans the next week

Sweets have a way of creeping back in, always.
I’ve had a few strawberries from my garden but so far they’ve been meh. Anything that you can add to make them sweeter? Maybe the ones that survived the winter will taste better. But I’ve been enjoying other veggies (lettuce, bok choy, herbs, chard).
I went to Bermuda once with my family when I was 9. It was so awesome. I wonder how much has changed? Although I probably wouldn’t even realize what has changed.

yay for school being out! for both! and yes, I’m your age and I get that song in my head too haha! I don’t really blame you for not running much. I really think it’s ok. you had an insane first half of the year. time to recovery and take it a bit easy. I have never been to Bermuda. We did not travel when I was growing up. My parents were divorced and there were pretty much no holidays. Well, sometimes we’d go to Pinetop, Arizona haha, but that’s certainly no Bermuda! I got my passport at 23 and left the country at 24, so I missed travelling on that side of the US. At some point I’ll get there 🙂 No racing for me – I think my first race will actually be in August unless I find something in between the second week of July and my Half in Helsinki!

Bermuda sounds pretty amazing, jealous you’ll be there for a race-cation!

Between the weather and my crazy busy travel schedule, I haven’t even started planting this year. It will be a slim year for me now that we are already in the middle of June. Ozzy is adorable!
