It’s a new season and a new month. It’s also time to sit down and catch up over a cup of something warm. I’d invite you to my outdoor sanctuary aka my back deck, before it gets entirely too cold to sit out there. I’m linking up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date, and with Meranda, Lacey and Rachel for the Friday Five.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that while I’m glad to have a week of single parenting behind me, I’d also admit that it really isn’t that big of a deal. The bigger issue is having “floor guys” here constantly. That’s a PIA.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you I was delighted to have a replacement bottle of the Bath Salts that was confiscated at the Vancouver airport after Seawheeze show up in the mail. I totally understand how a company like Saje wouldn’t be able to send everyone another free bottle, but they were kind enough to offer us a 50% discount code + free shipping so I jumped on it. Yay!
Get the recipe for my No-Bake Chocolate-Cherry Protein Bars here.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you how nerve wracking it was to do a live takeover of the Great Lakes Gelatin Facebook page. I think it went ok…but one can never truly assess oneself, am I right? Although it’s not the first time I’ve done FB Live, it’s still so weird to be basically talking to a camera. The dogs always look at me like I’m nuts. Thank heavens neither of them made a cameo appearance.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you Thing 1 is totally up in the air on college still, and she continues to receive recruiting offers for track. She toured Duke and UNC this week. She’s worked so hard and I’m beyond proud of her. The world is her oyster.
The last time I saw Meb in town for the Chicago Marathon
Earlier this year when I came across Meb on the Gasparilla race course.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that while I won’t be spectating the Chicago Marathon from the blogger press box this year, I’m excited to be heading out on a blog field trip with Wendy to see my old friends Meb, Carrie Tollefson and a bunch of other running luminaries, compliments of UCAN. Stay tuned for more on that.
What would you tell me over coffee? Does public speaking/FB Live make you nervous? Good luck to everyone running the Chicago Marathon this weekend!

Wow. Hanging with the elites? How lucky.
Good luck with the college search. Hope she picks a school near a great race. Lol.

I’m so not ready for the college search yet. So.not.ready.
Have fun at that meet up – sounds like a blast.

Wow! TWO pictures with Meb? How awesome. Have fun at the Chicago Marathon. I ran it several years ago and loved it. It was 39 degrees and raining at the start the year I did it. The winner slipped on the wet logo painted on the road at the finish line, hit his head, and had to be taken to a hospital in an ambulance. Quite a memorable finish!
Glad you got your bath salts! 🙂

Fantastic that your daughter has so many options out there! Yay 🙂 Hope you and Wendy have a fun time together this weekend. Should be a fun one! Thanks for joining us for coffee

Meb is such a class act! I got to meet him at the Bix7, a few months after he’d won Boston. I thought you did great on the camera! I have only done a couple of live shoots…and I agree, it’s weird talking to a camera. I tend to get more nervous anticipating it rather than the actual “filming” as it happens.

Having people work in your home is the ultimate PITA. I remember when we had people redoing our kitchen not long after we moved here — the head guy is actually the son of a neighbor I’ve now become friendly with, but didn’t know at the time. Still, having cold air constantly blowing throw, little access to your own kitchen (or bathroom), making the sure the dogs stay inside . . . not fun. It’s definitely worth it in the end.
Your field trip sounds amazing.

Does Thing 1 know what region of the country she’d like to go? That always helps narrow down choices. I stayed in the northeast since that’s what I was familiar with. The furthest place from home I looked was Gettysburg.

The UCAN outing should be fun!
It’s great that your daughter has some great options! Any chance you’ll be heading to the Boston area for college visits? 😉

That’s so awesome about your daughter! Best of luck to her on the college search! Yay for lots of options! :]

Ah, that Meb meet up will be amazing! I’m not nervous about public speaking anymore but speaking to a screen is hard. I do a lot of webinars for work and I really miss that audience body language feedback. Hope your floors are done soon!

That is awesome that the brand sent you some new bath salts. Why exactly did TSA confiscate them?

Hi Marcia!!! Ooo those no bake bars look just scrumptious. How exciting for your daughter- the world is truly her oyster!! I actually am in Duke’s Doctorate program and absolutely love it. I cannot say enough good about the school. Just my biased opinion 😉 Have a great Sunday!
