Making healthy choices when it comes to exercise and nutrition can be challenging. Add in the fact that we’re all busy working, going places and caring for others, it’s easy for those healthy choices to fall by the wayside. Here are five healthy hacks to help you save time and your sanity.
5 Healthy Hacks That Save Time and Your Sanity
Workout first thing. Plan what you’ll do and what you’ll wear the night before so no thinking is necessary at the crack of dawn. Just get up, get going, and be done. It doesn’t have to be a class you need to fight traffic to get to or a workout that takes up an hour or more of your time. Find quick yet effective HIIT, yoga and no equipment workouts online. Your mind, body, and spirit will thank you.
Reach for a breakfast that does triple duty. thinkThin Protein and Probiotics Hot Oatmeal is a super convenient, nutritional powerhouse. Starting my day with a hot breakfast that’s not only simple and quick to make, but delicious, satisfying and good for my gut is a win on all fronts.
Each 1.94 oz. bowl packs 10g protein, 1 billion CFU of live probiotics and 6g fiber. All in just 200 calories.
Whether I’m hitting the gym, heading to the office or working at home, a hot, healthy breakfast is as close as the microwave. Now that summer is coming to an end and cooler weather is right around the corner, a hot breakfast sounds even more appealing.
Each bowl contains a blend of rolled and steel-cut oats, coupled with red quinoa and chia seeds. My favorite might be the Cinnamon Almond Bowl that’s bursting with delicious brown sugar and cinnamon. The Maple Pecan and Blueberry Harvest flavors are amazing as well. I love that all varieties feature gluten-free, non-GMO ingredients I can feel great about.
Follow the 2-Minute Rule. If you can knock it out in two minutes or less, JUST DO IT. Answer an email, complete a simple household task, etc. Saving it for later, planning to do it, etc. will take five minutes or more…if you even remember it.
Don’t be available all the time. Designate a specific time once or twice a day to check messages and emails. If your phone is a distraction, keep it on silent and return calls in batches.
Automate or Delegate Tasks you Don’t Love Doing. Whether its cleaning your house, doing laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, or running errands, automating small yet time consuming tasks frees you up to focus on bigger things.
How do you stay on track with healthy habits when life gets busy? What flavor of thinkThin Oatmeal would you choose?

I definitely prefer to workout first thing, and maybe for that reason I need a good breakfast – those bowls look yummy! I need to do better with that 2 minute rule. I waste time re-reading the same emails and NOT dealing with them until “later”. Great tips.

I agree that working out first thing is the way to go! And I try to ignore my messages until I know I’ll have time to respond.

Working out first thing is what I would recommend too! I try to pair foods from two food groups to make me fuller longer – smoothies with a ton of veggies/fruit or oatmeal and fruit are my go-tos.
Laurie says
Yes, yes, yes!!! Workout first thing. There are too many things that can crop up during the day that prevent you from working out if you don’t. Great tips. Thanks!

I’m all about oatmeal-type of breakfasts, usually because (five days a week) that’s what happens at my desk at work. I’d probabaly go with the blueberry, but apple and cinnamon is always a safe bet, too 😉
Lesley says
If you remember it… I fall into that batch. If I don’t write stuff down and don’t do it when I remember, I don’t.
Wendy says
If I don’t work out first thing in the morning, it doesn’t happen.
That cinnamon apple oatmeal sounds pretty yummy to me!

I wish I could afford to have someone clean my house for me.It’s a terrible time suck! I do my to do list each night, and I try to keep it open somewhere so that I’m actually working on it!

I agree that working out first thing in the morning is ideal. I’m going to see if I can implement this twice during the work week. It would be nice to have more time to relax after work vs. getting in a workout or run.
I have heard of Think Thin products but haven’t gotten around to trying them yet. I would love to try the Oatmeal, especially as the temperature gets cooler!

I’m all about working out first thing in the morning, though usually on an empty stomach (unless it’s a long run on the weekend) and then by the time I’m done, I’m ravenous and just SOMETHING TO EAT FAST. These sound like a great option, thanks for sharing!
Cari says
I love this – especially the two minute rule.
I need to get better about morning workouts. I love how I feel when I do them – but it’s not yet enough to get me going when there’s no external force
Fairytales and fitness says
I haven’t had breakfast yet so that looks really good. I don’t normally eat a hot breakfast but this seems simple enough!
HoHo Runs says
Hot oatmeal (with milk and berries and sometimes yogurt) is my favorite year round breakfast. I’d probably like any of the thinkThin flavors. I love the Two Minute hack. Thanks for linking.

I have always done my runs in the evenings after work but recently I managed 2 runs before work. And what a difference it made. It was done. And I didn’t have to spend the last part of my work day stressing about navigating traffic and getting home on time to run. It actually took a huge weight off. Like Kim G said in her comment, I think I will have to do this on at least one or two mornings in the week whenever I can manage.
Deborah Brooks says
I am looking forward to oatmeal season! I have not tried these but will check them out
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Yes! Working out first thing in the morning does the mind, body, and soul a world of good! I’m looking forward to the cooler weather and oatmeal season – it’s usually my go-to breakfast. I’ll have to check these out.
