Aaaah summer. Can we just hit the pause button right here right now for about…oh say 4 weeks…and enjoy these lazy, golden warm days a little longer? Alas time waits for no one and August will make an appearance next week. You know what that means right? It means the Runfessional is open and ready for you to spill all of those transgressions that happened in July. Let’s get started, shall we?
July Runfessions
Prancing around Miami in Seawheeze race shorts for all to see.
You won’t find me wearing a race shirt before I actually run a race but I runfess that whole thing went out the window when my Lululemon Seawheeze race shorts arrived back in May. Even though the race isn’t until late September, I’ve been wearing them all summer long and loving them. Sorry not sorry.
I runfess I had designs on doing a tri this weekend but when I realized it fell ON Thing 2’s birthday, I bagged the idea. After the logistical nightmare that was RnRChi no thanks family parties, I wasn’t about to do that again.
Extra creativity points to the marketing department
We’re immersed in college visits with Thing 1 lately. There are SO many things to consider. I runfess there’s a special place in my heart for the schools that send cute swag our way. I know, I know. Frisbee anyone?
I told you in my June Runfessions how ticked I was that Nuun sent me a survey then immediately stopped me in my tracks as soon as they realized how old I was. I ranted about how I’d never buy Nuun again, yada yada….until I found a kick arse sale at Whole Foods. And loaded up.
Once again, I’m waaay overdue for a haircut. What else is knew? I runfess I may have used my super-long ponytail for self-defense purposes a few weeks ago on Free Slurpee Day. Did you partake? Thing 2 and I were waiting our turn in a long but nicely moving line when I realized the lady behind me was a close stander. Close to the point she’d bump up against me on numerous occasions. Who does this? No matter how far I moved away she’d snug right up again. So I started whipping my head around nice and fast so my ponytail would back her off a bit.
Alrighty your turn! What have you to runfess? Do you loathe close talkers/standers as much as I do?
I’m linking up with Meranda, Lacey and Rachel for the Friday Five.

Those Lululemon shorts are cute and I don’t blame you for wearing them now. I don’t blame you for skipping your tri after how crazy last weekend was with your races and celebrations at home. That sounded like way too much pressure to me.
Thanks for the linkup! It was fun joining in again after taking too many months off.

OMG…the whipping pony tail! I runfess one time, in my college days (#bighair), I did a “hair flip” to get my big bangs outta my eyes and my lion’s mane nearly clobbered the dude standing behind me on the bus. I don’t know which of us was more embarrassed….

It drives me crazy when people stand too close! Good idea to use your ponytail to keep her away. I think I would also wear those shorts before the race! They’re cute and you probably won’t get as much use out of them after September.
Erica @ Erica Finds says
You’re too funny! I had your nuun experience with Nike – they always want 18-25 or something! And the ponytail weapon 😂😂😂
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Great idea to use your ponytail to create some space – I so loathe the close standers! Those shorts are super cute – I wouldn’t have waited until the race to wear them either.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I bought a few pairs of Lulu shorts this summer and they have ended up being my favorites too. Light and comfy. Always armed with my ponytail 🙂
Rachel Frutkin says
Close standers are the WORST. I seriously want to turn around and tell them to back the hell up off me. But I don’t because… well, I don’t know why.
I had the same conundrum about my MCM shorts the first year I ran it. I ordered them (and a hoodie and a jacket) and desperately wanted to wear all. But it was my second marathon (after my first horrible experience which almost resulted in a DNF) so I decided I needed to be a good girl and wait. So I did. And now I don’t want to wear them TOO much because I don’t want to wear them out and not have them. Ha! The struggle is real.
Wendy says
Eww to the close stander. Doesn’t she know anything about personal space? I like your defensive strategy.
Remember when I said I wouldn’t go back to Lululemon? Same as your Nuun experience. We are week.
Darlene says
I can’t wait to find out which school your daughter chooses. Hopefully there will be some good races you can run there.

LOL at using your pony tail to preserve your space. I’ll have to remember that – oh, wait, I’m actually thinking of getting mine cut off…
Those shorts are cute. I’d totally be wearing them all summer.
The Accidental Marathoner says
Haha too funny about the pony tail! People just don’t understand the concept of personal space. I’m very good at elbowing people when they get too close.
HoHo Runs says
Oh, love those shorts! Darn, my pony tail is too short for whipping around. But what a great idea! I have a rant about prospective universities — the insane amount of mail!!
Kim G says
Those shorts are super cute! I haven’t done that race but I love that their swag always seems to be super cute, and unique!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I’m way past due for a haircut too — totally normal, right? — but I do like a long braid in the summer. 🙂 And ugh to the people who invade our personal space.
Laurie says
Yes!!! Let’s hit pause. I am not ready for back to school yet. I am still enjoying the last weeks of summer, my favorite season. Why does it go by so quickly?
Love the whole ponytail thing! 🙂

Some people just don’t get personal space. I usually back up a little so they have to back up too. I’ve got a pretty mean evil eye too. Lol.
The shorts are cute and I think you’re fine wearing them before the race…”training” shorts and all.
