How’d we get to JUNE?? I mean seriously almost half the year is gone. Nevertheless it’s time to linkup with Coco and Deb for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Join us!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you the weather here has been stellar. Now that the teenager is out of school I have my early mornings free until 7 so I’ve been getting out to run at 5 and it’s been spectacular. Think 52-56 degrees, calm, peaceful, most of the time I don’t see a soul. AND those runs have been some of my best of the year pace-wise.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you the teenager and I took the train downtown and met my BRF Jill in the city for some Mag Mile shopping, sightseeing, cupcakes and other shenanigans. I even took her to my personal (free) “observatory” in the Hancock building to score these stunning views. Come visit me and I’ll take you there as well.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you my superfood garden has finally been planted! It took 2+ hours of exhausting “turbo” gardening, complete with a little unburnsay on my ackbay but it’s done and I couldn’t be happier.
Here’s what I’ve got growing:
- Tomatoes
- Peppers
- Peas
- Rainbow Swiss Chard
- Beets
- Spinach
- Kale
- Red & Yellow Onions
- Carrots
- Cucumbers
- Pumpkins
- All kinds of herbs
If we were having coffee I’d tell you my Stitch Fix stylist hit it out of the park on my vacation Fix. I asked for exotic, swanky pieces perfect for the Greek Islands and she delivered. I bought every single item! I’ll show you when I get around to taking pics. In the meantime try Stitch Fix for yourself with this link.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you I am super pumped to be heading out next Friday for a fun-filled girls’ weekend running the Utah Valley Half marathon. Utah will be a totally new state for me so watch for a new Starbucks mug!
What would you tell me over coffee?
I’m linking up with Meranda, Lacey and Rachel for the Friday Five, and with Deb and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Join us!

My Stitch Fix arrived yesterday and it was another keeper! I am loving all the fun pieces my stylist picks for me.
I am having serious FOMO about Utah! Sigh.

I might have to try Stitch Fix again bc I was not thrilled with the 2 I got before. I have never gone shopping at Mag Mile but I think I would love it. Utah is going to be great! See you for coffee tomorrow

Glad to hear that the weather in Chicago has been beautiful so far. Let’s hope that good weather last all summer, straight into October, lol 🙂
I so wish I was going to Utah next week! There are so many awesome bloggers and runners going for the race – I have serious FOMO!

Good luck and have fun in Utah! My vegetable garden is in, and with this beautiful weather, I swear the plants have doubled in size just in this past week! MOST of my flowers are in. I spied some beautiful red-breasted finches on my deck this morning. Ah…Chicago summers!
Lesley says
I kept two pieces from my last Stitch Fix, but they were great! I asked for some summer dresses that I can wear to work, and a bridal shower in July, and I have two great options.
Teresa says
Oh what fun that sounds like in the big city! We’ve been to NYC too many times to count but never to Chicago. I’m going to have to put that on my list and let you give the “local tour” 🙂
Your super food garden sounds super impressive!! Can’t wait to see the fruits of your labor!

Still seeing other names when I go to put my stuff in 🙂

Now that sounds like a serious superfood garden! I’m also having serious FOMO over Utah. I so wish I could have made it work, but I’ll be knee deep in coordinating our town’s annual lacrosse tournament! I’m sure you guys are going to have a ball!
Thelma says
Oh hey, a shout on the blog again. I should come visit more often :).
What a fun day. Finally hit Nordstroms the day after and no go on the KS purse. Grrrr.
Nice job on powering through that garden, Lou! I finally bought a plant. As in one. That’s progress over last year.
Miss you and hope to chat before you head to Utah!

It’s crazy how fast this year is going! I feel like I’m nowhere near where I wanted to be and hardly anything is crossed off my to do list. Oh well, guess it’s time to start doing!
Abby @BackatSquareZero says
Oh my gosh can I come visit you for the weather. We are at 80 and humid already at 6/7am which is scaring me for August marathon training.
