In typical Chicago fashion, we were all over the place this week. Before I get to the loving/not loving goodness, here’s how my workout week went. Not too shabby if I do say so myself:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Trail run 6 miles
Wednesday: Swim 500yds, Bike 18 miles, Run 2 miles
Thursday: Strength
Friday: Trail run 9 miles
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Speedwork + CrossFit
Loving: It is officially spring break here! Whoop Whoop!
Not Loving: We aren’t going anywhere.
Super Not Loving: The Caveman is in Dallas on business for a entire freaking week, the weekend included. Way to buzzkill a spring break.
Loving: We had one glorious sunny day with a record breaking temperature of 82. Pretty unheard of in Chicago in March, but Mom Nature is weird.
Not loving: Later that very evening, a “pneumonia front” the weatherman’s term, not mine, blew in and the mercury plunged 40+ degrees in 2 hours. Ridiculous, but that’s how we roll.
Loving: I was able to hit the trails twice this week.
Not loving: I hit some very muddy stretches. I really REALLY hate getting new running shoes muddy.
RocknBlog team at the RnRVegas 5k 2015
Loving: I’m all registered and hotel is booked for RocknRoll Vegas baby! That’ll most likely be the capstone race in a year that includes races in Utah and Berlin, not to mention the exotic locales (Dubai, Greek Isles, Montenegro) I’ll be training in over the summer. What’s not to love about that?
Loving: RocknRoll announced their newest tour stop: IN CHINA!! How crazy cool would that be?
Loving: I made good progress this week on the teenager’s Sweet 16 party arrangements.
Not loving: Due to schedules and availability, it looks like her party and my triathlon will be on the same day. No pressure there…
Kind of loving maybe: There’s an option to change to the super-sprint.
Kind of loving: The super sprint would cut down the swim distance. Insert happy dolphin dance here.
Loving: Spandits is having a sale! Remember SPANDITSLOVE saves you 10% off your first order so go load up and tell them Marcia sent you!
What are you loving lately? No so much?

I heard it was warm here on Saturday, but we were in Michigan where it was cold and rainy. Now I think the rain is coming this way. I also hate getting new shoes muddy! Its kind of annoying getting any running shoes muddy because I don’t want to drag it through the house, so they usually just sit by the front door until my next run.
Kimberly G says
The weather here has been all over the place as well. Sometimes I think Mother Nature is drunk.
I’m also loving the new RnR tour stop. Unfortunately I know I won’t be able to do that race, but how awesome is it that they are in a new country?! I love it!
Thats awesome that you booked Las Vegas! The half marathon is a lot of fun 🙂 I won’t be there this year, but I will be doing RnR Philly, Brooklyn, Montreal and San Antonio
Katie Shepherd says
You sound like me planning birthday parties and then one happens to fall on race day. Uh oh. Great job on hitting the trails! We have trails and lots of dirt to run in my neighborhood and I don’t like to get my shoes dirty either lol! I cut across a dam when I want to avoid hills close to my house! Sad hubby isn’t home but hope you are able to enjoy your spring break a little!
HoHo Runs says
A big birthday bash and a triathlon? You can do it! But I can’t. LOL. So sorry you aren’t going anywhere for spring breaks but you’ve got some really cool travel plans to make up for it. Thanks for linking Marcia!
Gina says
Wow marcia! How are you traveling to all of those amazing locations! so jealous! I really REALLY want to do vegas this year, but hubby put the “negative” on it. 🙁 BOO!
Coco says
Wow, not sure what to think about RnR China. It will be interesting to hear about at least. So, the sweet sixteen will be your tri after-party? That would win a Super Mom award for sure.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I’m not so sure I’d want to run in China, but how cool that RnR is going there!
Do you want to meet for lunch this week? I feel like we’ve got a few things to dish…
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I am loving this weather this past week as well. I am hoping it is here to stay. What I am not loving is this cold I have been fighting ever since the marathon.
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
RnR Vegas was my favorite half race! You are going to love it. Looks like a great tri training week for you again too. I am hoping for a great brick workout this week
Kimberly Hatting says
Loving I’m on vacay, not loving that it’s a bit if a pain to blog & keep up with social media stuff. First world probs of epic proportions….
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Yeah I’m getting a little tired of the weather whiplash – Mother N really needs to make up her mind!
You have some great travel plans ahead! I’m thinking you can pull off the tri and sweet 16 on the same day 😉
Renée says
Loving that spring is finally here in the Netherlands – not loving that I have to work and sit indoors all day (when it also irritates my back).
what a bummer that the Caveman is away during spring break! awful timing!!
So… I’ve got Vegas on my radar, the price alert that was sent last week was so low… but I don’t have the money quite yet and have to be realistic about going. It would sure be amazing to see you again, but this time in VEGAS!! Of course we are going to Chicago this year so I could already be satisfied with that trip to the States and not be so greedy!
which Greek island are you going to? my fave is Crete 🙂 and wow you have Dubai and Montenegro in the mix too – incredible! I’ve not been to Dubai but Montenegro is amazing.
Judy @ chocolaterunsjudy says
Sometimes I enjoy a little alone time without Mr. Judy. Shhhh! It’s been a long time; he used to travel a lot for work but not so much now.
Eek on the tri & sweet 16 party! Good luck with that one.
I saw the China announcement . . . that’s kind of cool (but pretty sure it’s not happening for me).
Loving all the food this week . . . pretty sure I won’t be loving the scale this week!
Darlene says
Is it really spring? Not here.
You have some great travel plans.
Looking forward to Vegas and seethe #holottafun gang. Sorry to miss Utah. Can’t do it all.
Lesley says
I’d love to do Vegas, but I really need to be smart and see how I feel after Bolder Boulder. I’ll time to take a break, then re-assess where I am with my knee, and what I need to work on before my next race. I have serious FOMO, though, and it’s really tough!
Ana says
Tri and a party! You got this!!
You have spring break early! ours is not for another month here!
oh!! Warm weather is the best!!
Rachel says
I also really, really hate getting shoes muddy. Like, severely hate it. Those pictures people post with their super muddy shoes after a trail run crush my soul. And I love running trails so… ;p
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
82!!!??? We hit 70 🙂
Elle says
You have some great sounding trips coming up this year! Awesome!
Abby @BackatSquareZero says
Ohhhhh…. sweet 16 and tri in the same day – oh dear heavens you are one brave momma.
Anna @ Pipers Run says
You are a busy lady! Can’t say I’ve run a race and b day party in one day, but I’ve done a half marathon and thanksgiving at my house in the same day – not recommended.
Smitha says
Tri party and then a 16 party!! You are going to be one tired girl!!
Jenn says
I’m registered for Vegas! I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I’m halfway there 🙂
My husband is gone too. Work travel can get old really fast. I much prefer recreational travel, or the kind where I get to tag along.
Great week for you, despite the muddy running shoes!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
I’m so jealous of all of the traveling that you’ll be doing this year! I wish that I could add Chengdu to my racecation list for this year, but its just not feasible with the school calendar.
Mary Beth Jackson says
You have the sweet 16 party and I have a baby shower to plan but at least I am not running/tri the same day! Wish I could come to help! Loving that I am signed up for RNR Vegas! Let’s do this! WOO HOO!
Angela @marathonsandmotivation.com says
It sounds like a GREAT Week! Pneumonia Front? Wow, I had not heard of that, it sounds like something we would have in Maine too. Love that you had that warm day… a light at the end of the winter tunnel!! 🙂
Ilka says
That’s an awesome training log as usual Marcia! You are such an inspiration and always going strong!!
…and yes, I totally agree, getting new running shoes muddy stinks…
Have a great training week Superwoman!
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
You need to do that China race. Need to.
