Although Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer (sniff) we’re on the brink of a long, holiday weekend, so holla! Do you have any fun plans? Other than nailing a decent long run for marathon training, we’re pretty fluid here. I did run across a few news items though that were too, um….interesting not to share. Here are my freakish Friday faves:
Did you hear about the incident at the Dublin City Triathlon in Ireland? Yeah how freakish would it be to get hit by a deer during a triathlon? What’s even crazier is I ran on that very path in Phoenix Park when I ran the RocknRoll Dublin Half Marathon last month. Really glad I avoided a “deer altercation”. Geez. Thankfully the rider who was hit is ok.
Apparently runners aren’t the only cheaters in sports. This couple, law enforcement officers no less, apparently faked their summit of Mt. Everest by doctoring photos. Critics claimed the couple’s clothes from various stages of the climb did not match. Now they’re banned from climbing any peaks in Nepal for 10 years. Seriously, who even thinks of doing this?
Maybe not as freakish as the previous two stories, but these next two are too freaking good to pass up.
Prana played a starring role in my travel wardrobe in Ireland.
You may know I love me some Prana. I’ve been a fan for years and years. Well I am SMITTEN with their fall collection and they’re offering 25% off select fall styles + free shipping on everything now until September 5. Add to that this handy little discount code (PFS16MHS) for 15% off and you MUST go order yourself a thing or 6. Heaven knows I did.
Speaking of fall fashion, my favorite Spandits! is rolling out new patterns for fall! Of course I love them all but THOSE SKULLZ!!! They’re a must have, of course. So festively freakish, they make me wanna go race in Mexico. Remember SPANDITSLOVE saves you 10% off your first order and subscribe to their newsletter already because they sneak deals and discounts in there!
Any fun plans this weekend? Racing? Will you update your wardrobe for fall?

No changes yet. I’m itching to get some fall clothes out, like sweatshirts and long sleeve running shirts, but it’s still summer down here. I’ve never adjusted to labor day not bringing cooler weather, so it’s always tough. I see my sweatshirts and so very much want to wear them.

Very interesting stories! I have no idea what kind of people have the time, energy or desire to make stuff up. So crazy.

Those skulls will look great for the Carrera de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) race in Pilsen.

Wow I guess climbing to the summit is not only a personal goal but public too! Shame on them! I couldn’t live with myself if I fakes something like that. Karma just has a way of coming back to bite the ol butt!

Marcia: I have a friend who would LOVE those sugar skull tights, but I can’t find them on the Spandits website. Do you have a link?
